Punishment
When I woke up we were in the meadow. Namjoon had laid me down in the daisies. Their soft sweet smell was comforting in the grueling minutes that passed waiting for Taehyung.
You know if it wasn't for the fact that he gave the most awful punishments he'd be quite delightful. But today... for me he was ever so frightful.
The dust blew toward us like a whirlwind, I attempted to shield myself with my tails but ended up crying out in pain. One of them was missing... in its place was a dark shadow of its former self. This was created by Namjoon to sustain my life. Or at least hold me over until my punishment was finished.
Taehyung appeared, with dark hooded eyes and a look that made me feel like dying.
"Jinx..." his tone was low and threatening when he approached. I could feel the heat from the underworld radiating off his tan skin. His dark robes had smoke billowing off killing the flowers beneath his feet. His dark wavy hair swooped back. Such a darkly handsome man.
"Namjoon..." I whimpered, trying to move closer to him. He shushed me, patting my head with a slight smile. But I could tell that he too was unnerved by his brother.
"You have caused a ripple in the future, a great King was to be born this day. Alas, fate had to take him and his mother. When it should have been his sister."
I felt the guilt wash over me, like the hot lava that poured through the city below. I was burning from within.
"I'm sorry..."
He glared at me as if my apology was minuscule.
"YOU THINK THAT PATHETIC APOLOGY IS GOING TO BUILD AN EMPIRE?!!" He boomed, shaking all the trees around us.
Or was that the Pen?
I looked around, my hair standing on ends. Namjoon glanced hopefully towards the trees. He was the only person I could think of that would want to see the Pen.
"I know what your punishment is..." Taehyung murmured softly. His eyes had blue fire dancing in them as he stared at my shadow tail.
This is it... this is where I die.
His eyes lingered on the Mystic Forest and my heart fell. It was beautiful, dark and creatures of all shapes and sizes lived there. Yet it was no place for a nine tailed fox. Not this one... there is a story about a black nine tailed fox. But for the life of me I can't remember the story or even if it was real. That's the beauty of it. The Forest has a magical seal around it, that only magical folk can see.
Jimin will forget me... so will little Jae...
Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked towards the edge of the meadow where the little chateau was still burning. I could just make out Jimin and Jae. They were huddled together. His once so happy face was now tortured with grief.
There was bound to be sadness no matter what I had decided to do. Had I stood still and observed little Jae would be gone. But, Jimin would still have his little king.
"Jinx... did you hear Taehyung?" Namjoon pulled me from my thoughts. I looked at him with sad eyes, shaking my head no.
"She doesn't even listen! How do you keep her in line!" Snapped Taehyung, a blue flame sparked all over his robes. His anger was growing.
"I'm sorry..."
"You are to tell your fox what I said. I have other matters to tend to." Taehyung whipped around vanishing in a wisp of smoke. I shivered.
That man scares the tails right off of me.
"Joonie?" I looked up at my friend worriedly. He tilted his head sideways with a weary smile.
"You are banished to the Mystic Forest..." He began.
No...
"There is a black nine tailed fox there..."
I thought that was just a story... wait. No.
"Joonie, Jimin will forget me... and little Jae!"
He sighed crouching down to pat my head.
"Little one, even though we love our human friends, we are not to meddle in the judgements written out by the fates. I would have thought you would have learned from my mistake." His eyes filled with hurt followed by sadness and heartache. I nuzzled into his side.
"I'm sorry, Joonie." I murmured. Namjoon just stroked my fur before continuing with what Taehyung had said before.
"You are to train this fox... since you have inadvertently killed the future king. You are to train this fox and present him as a human to go forth into the trials to become the new king. You have three years."
How did I miss all of this before?
"But that makes him a glitch..."
Namjoon nodded.
"I have to train him to be a glitch."
In order to possess any type of power in the human world you must have the charisma and skills of a high society human. I don't really know how to help someone to obtain these skills.
"Yes, Jinx... I know it will be hard for you. But, until you have achieved this... you cannot return to me."
I stared up into his dark eyes once more. He seemed to have fallen further into his destructive mind. Like Taehyung's flames, Namjoon's destruction oozed out onto the valley. Killing all the daisies and tiny flowers that surrounded us.
"I-I don't know how... what will happen if I don't succeed before the third year mark?"
His tone was colder than usual. Sending chills down my spine when he spoke.
"Your shadow tail will fade and you will die."
Namjoon stood up, brushing the dead flowers off from his reddish brown robes. He was a beautiful sight in the evening sun. Fear pooled in my stomach as I looked towards the Forest once more. A beautiful mysterious place filled to the brim with scary and unique creatures. My new home.
I must find the black nine tailed fox. I will make him a king.
Best darn glitch King you ever did see!
"I will make you proud, Namjoon!" I called to him. He smiled softly, tiny dimples forming on his cheeks.
"You always do."
I got up and ran around and in between his legs a few times, then bolted towards the Mystic Forest, determined. All the while ignoring the pain.
