Old Friend

Namjoon walked into the run down chateau where Jimin and little Jae once lived. They have long since moved on. The pain from the memories were too great for them to linger. Two years had come and gone like the tides. Each year his heart grew a bit heavier, wondering if he'd ever have his spunky little companion back.

Or if she too would be lost to him like Jin.

Sometimes late at night when he knew she would be sound asleep, he would wander through the Mystic Forest to check on her. Her white fur looked like it had been dipped in black all the way up her legs.

Part of Taehyung's punishment. It showed just how much time her life line had left. How much had she accomplished in training the black fox that laid curled up beside her?

They seems to be getting along well, considering their closeness inside the burned tree. So he journeyed deeper towards the stream of dreams.

"Hwasa old friend." He whispered into the night air. Hwasa's sky blue eyes shone in the darkness. A small smile on her pale bark face glowing in the light of the moon.

"Who are you calling old, Namjoon?"

He laughed softly, trying not to disturb the sleeping creatures. Making sure his voice didn't carry, so that one in particular didn't come barreling this way.

"How are things going In the Mystic Forest?"

"Things are going well. Aside from time not being on the little ones' side." Hwasa sighed, her eyes drifting to the clouds in the stream. There in a small cloud was a girl with white hair dancing happily with a boy with a gummy smile. Everything around them was warm and colorful, there was no sadness. All you could feel was pure unsolicited happiness.

"Whose Dream is this?"

"Yoongi..."

Namjoon watched as they laughed and played around in the meadow. Jinx loved the meadow, he would always find her there after a long day of warning villagers of disasters he'd create.

"Do you think she'll make it?" He asked, not looking at Hwasa. His eyes stayed fixed on the cloud which played the dream.

"It's hard to tell. He has only been able to shift one time effectively and that only lasted mere seconds."

"Do you know why?"

"Sadness... it's still wrapped around his heart."

Namjoon sighed, rubbing his face in anguish.

"There's got to be some way to get rid of it."

"She's worked so hard. They will figure it out." Hwasa reassured him and somewhat herself. Yoongi was smiling more as time passed, but Jinx was getting slower. She could see the pain in her eyes when she would sit by the stream. Her eyes would glaze over with tears she tried so hard to hide.

Yoongi stayed close to her. Perhaps the sadness that still held him was fear of losing her. Maybe she was what he now loved most in this world.

Maybe.

Namjoon smiled at Hwasa who returned the gesture.

"How is Jin?" His heart squeezed as he said it. Knowing good and well that she couldn't tell him about him. It was against the punishment.

"Namjoon."

"Yea, I know... I just."

Hwasa sighed, tears pooling in her eyes as more dreams formed. She leaned over the swirling clouds, crystals falling into them creating vivid pictures of many creatures dreaming. Namjoon watched them silently, searching for a glimpse of Jin's handsome face. One that he has missed for far too long.

There was nothing.

No sign of him. Namjoon wipes his eyes on the back of his dark brown robes.

"I'm sorry, Joon."

He waved his hand at her.

"It's fine, it was nice seeing you again. Keep an eye on Jinx for me."

Hwasa nodded, her leaves rustling in the cool night breeze. A twig snapped close by making her eyes dart towards a pair of glowing red eyes. They were fixed on Namjoon. Why it didn't come out to attack, Hwasa wasn't sure. Because Jin wasn't supposed to have any memory of him. Slowly it faded away into the darkness not making another sound.

Perhaps love can conquer all. She thought staring off into the dark shadows where the pen once stood.

"He always knows when Namjoon is in or near the Forest." Lilith's motherly voice floated through the night air. Hwasa smiled, turning to see her friend moving towards the stream.

"How is Jinx?" Hwasa asked, even though she had seen the little fox hours ago.

"She's strong, that's for sure... although I think the pain is getting worse each time she glitches."

"They've been at it almost everyday since he agreed."

"Yes, I'm wondering if they will make it in time." Lilith wrapped her limbs around her trunk, gazing into the clouds.

"Only time will tell." Sighed Hwasa, another crystal falling from her blue eyes.
