Glitch

I never really understood why I was called a glitch. So being thrown into the Mystic Forest to teach another creature to glitch... well, I don't think I know how to do it myself. It's been so many years since the last time.

Jimin and little Jae, I was never really sure how they saw me. Did they see the fox? Or the fragile framed girl with white hair and bright eyes. Namjoon says it ties into what makes us truly happy. You get a bubbly feeling in the middle of your chest and you change.

Sitting in the middle of the meadow, I gazed up at the starry night sky. Yoongi sat beside me as I drifted through my worries one after the other.

"Is this part of the training?" He drones lazily. I've gotten used to that tone. It's kinda soothing. He really wasn't bad company once you figured out how to keep the sadness from creeping in.

"No... it's not." I sigh.

"What are we doing then?"

"I'm thinking and looking up at the stars...you, well it looks like you are sitting there."

Yoongi smirked. He's started to do that more lately. Which is a good sign. How long is his punishment supposed to last anyway? Pretty sure the Sunshine god was already back from his. The sun during the day felt like it was hugging you with its rays, giving you hope.

"What are you thinking about?"

"How to train you."

"Oh... you don't know."

I wish I could say that I did. But I am determined to please my Master Namjoon. Yoongi will be the best Glitch King there ever was.

"I have an idea."

He simply nodded, then looked up at the night sky. The cool breeze running through his black fur showing off the blues and greens. He is a beautiful fox.

"Let's go see Hwasa at the stream of dreams." I broke the peaceful silence that had drifted over us. He nodded, hopping up from the ground.

"Race you?" He shouted, taking off into the underbrush not even giving me a chance to respond. So I ran after him laughing at his quirkiness. He really was opening up more.
Hwasa tears fell into the stream, the moonlight hitting them just right as they fell making them look like tiny diamonds. Yoongi was laying down at the bank with his head on his paws watching the dreams float along.

"What's playing on dreams tonight, Yoongi?" I asked, laying down to watch the cloud dreams drift.

"One of the Pens is dreaming again, they seem happy."

"He deserves to be happy...just like his brother." Whispered Hwasa.

"What?"

"Don't fret little fox.." Was all Hwasa said before closing her eyes, humming a soft melody. It was quite soothing. Yoongi fell asleep soon after she had started, I on the other hand kept watching the dreams play.

"Oh hi little fox." the boy with the doe eyes called from across the stream.

"Hi..?"

He smirked resting his head on his fist as he crouched down.

"I believe you have something to tell me."

"What?"

"Ugh... What is it with you and the questions?!" He groaned. I watched as his eyes flickered purple then back to their normal color. Which god was he?

"I don't remember needing to tell you anything."

Hwasa's eyes shot open, the tranquility in her eyes turning into a raging storm.

"Leave!"

"Aw... Hwasa, are you still mad he chose me over you?" Smiled coyly. I could see her branches shaking. Who chose him over Hwasa? Why?

"You might want to leave." I warned Jungkook. He smiled at me.

"Not until you tell me what you were supposed to."

Swoosh!

Hwasa swung at Jungkook who disappeared in purple smoke. Hwasa drew in a breath turning every direction to find him.

"It sucks when you are rooted to the ground, doesn't it?" Jungkook's taunting voice drifted through the night air.

He was now standing halfway upstream with his hands on his hips, rocking his shoulders back and forth with his tongue stuck out.

Hwasa glared at him, the storm slowly dissipating in her sad eyes. Black smoke appeared soon after the storm subsided. Taehyung stood beside Hwasa with a look that could kill. Directed right at the taunting boy down the stream.

"Jungkook!" He yelled with such anger the bushes turned to ashes in seconds. Possibly the most terrifying thing I've seen in awhile. Jungkook yelped, his pants being caught on fire.

"I told you to leave the fox alone."

Jungkook patted his butt with a pout.

"You burned my tush, TaeTae."

Taehyung glared at him, pointing his finger to the ground beside him. Jungkook appeared by his side in less than a second. Taehyung grabbed his neck and they both disappeared in the smoke they came in on.

I noticed Hwasa was just staring at the ground Taehyung had been standing moments before. A look of longing and heartache etched across her pale bark face.

"Hwasa... Did he choose Jungkook?"

She didn't answer for a long time.

"No... the god of the underworld did. Jungkook is his punishment. Oddly enough the boy loves Taehyung. Would do anything for him. Probably why he did it in the first place." She sighed.

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine little fox. I face my punishment much like al the others."

I looked down at my legs, they were completely black now. If you didn't know any better, I could pass as one of those cuddly looking bear things... what are they called again. Oh yea, Pandas.

Yoongi stirred in his sleep, I peeked at the stream to make sure he wasn't having a nightmare again.

"That's odd." I mumbled. Hwasa gazed at the stream to see what I saw.

"What is it little fox?"

"Yoongi isn't dreaming..."

Hwasa smiled. "He is dreaming... he's just not dreaming of his fox form. Look again. Do you remember what he looks like?"

I stared at the stream of dreams for what seemed like an hour. Then it showed a boy sitting with a girl who looked much like a fox. They were just sitting looking up at the night sky. It all seemed so happy.

"It's a happy memory. A little distorted, but happy nonetheless. Sweet little fox, have you figured out what makes you glitch?"

"It has to do with love and happiness. You have to channel it to glitch. Kinda like thinking happy thoughts and pixie dust to fly in that fairytale."

Hwasa nodded.

"How would you teach it to him?" She gestured to the curled up in a ball black fox. I scrunch my face in thought.

"I guess I need to channel my inner pan."

Once again I looked back at the stream watching Yoongi's dream. He was finally starting to feel a glimpse of happiness. I just hope I can continue to bring him happiness. My time is running out.

Instead of waking Yoongi to go back to Chakri to sleep, I curled up next to him, drifting off into a peaceful slumber.

——

The sun rose to greet us with its warm happy rays. Yoongi stretched out, yawning big.

"We didn't go back to Chakri?" He asked me. I just shook my head.

"Ready for a day of training?" I asked chipperly. He shrugged looking around. The Forest was super quiet in the early mornings. It was definitely a strange sort of silence considering all the creatures that dwelled in it.

"To the meadow!" I cried, racing towards the other end of the stream. Yoongi shouted at me that it was not fair. But I kept on running until I was rolling in a field of wildflowers. Yoongi fell on the ground and rolled with me. A hint of a smile on his face.

I smiled, maybe it won't take long after all. I sat up catching my breath, watching him roll around a little longer.

He was very much like a little boy when the sadness wasn't overwhelming him.

"Yoongi."

Yoongi stopped to look at me.

"You ready?"

He nodded, sitting up straight his ears perked up.

"To glitch you have to think of the happiest memory you have and combine with that of something you truly love. A love that fills your heart to the brim." I watched as his face formed a frown at my words. I wasn't sure if he was thinking really hard or if he didn't know what his happiest moment was or love.

"Okay." Yoongi murmured softly. "I think I got it."

"Can you feel a bubbly feeling in your chest? Kinda warm?"

He thought for a second, then he nodded.

"Okay, focus on the bubbles... try to imagine yourself as a human."

Yoongi frowned, looking up at me. "Can you show me?"

It had been so long since I glitched. Could I even do it with this shadow tail?

"I may not be able to. But I will give it my best effort."
I smiled at him happily.

What was my happiest moment? I closed my eyes breathing in the sweet scent of the flowers. Focusing on my thoughts. Drifting through my memories to one in particular. How strange that it would be this one.

Okay... what do I love? The meadow? Well I do love the meadow but it's not what I love most. Little Jae, I loved her since she was first born. Alas even she...

Oh...

The bubbly feeling filled my chest warming me up from within. I breathed in deep, a feeling of water rushing through my veins took over and then there I was. Standing on two feet in a silken white gown with long silvery blonde hair.

It worked. I let out a giddy laugh, dancing around in circles with my arms outstretched. Yoongi sat watching with a smile on his face that stayed a little longer.

I smiled back at him waving an arm to urge him to try. Silently he tilted his head towards the ground. His tails wrapping around him, making him look like a puff of black fur. Several minutes passed, nothing happened. Yoongi didn't move and he wasn't talking.

"Yoongi?" I asked, moving closer to him. He looked up at me with tears in his eyes.

"I-I feel t-the bubbly and the warm feeling... it just stops when I try to figure out what I love." He hiccuped, wrapping his tails tighter around his body. My heart sunk as I scooped him up into my arms.

"It's okay." I whispered, petting the back of his head. He just looked up at me with sad brown eyes.

"It's only the first time trying." I tried to be reassuring.

"But you are running out of time."

He was right, I was running out of time. But I was determined.

"Try again. This time dig a little deeper."

He gave a little sniffle, then closed his eyes. Carefully I sat him down on the ground. Not exactly sure I could hold him up when he did change.

Again he sat for several minutes, however this time a white light surrounded him and his tails were swishing. A silhouette of a boy appeared and then disappeared almost as soon as it came. I was overjoyed.

"Yoongi!!" I cheered. He looked up at me confused.

"What?"

"You were so close!!"

His ears perked up and a gummy smile like in the dream appeared on his little fox face.

"Want to give it another go?"

He nodded.
