{Chapter 1} [Missing Artifacts]
"Have you ever been told you can't do something because it's 'not lady like' or 'because your a girl'? Well, i have. Me and my friends all have. I've heard that since i could walk and talk. When i was seven my older brothers told me to "Stop playing with swords, your a girl you can never be a knight." I'd just scoff and tell them that i will do whatever i please. It would really tick me off when they would say that. Some days i would even give in and think they were right, not anymore. Never again! Now, i've made swords for kings, fought their best guards and beaten them. I own over a dozen swords! People have called me crazy, weird and awkward. I stopped caring, mostly. and i-"
Emily stopped writing as she heard the door to her dorm slam. "Zoe?" She called out, no answer. She grabbed the sword that was beside her, and carefully crept to the living room where she heard rummaging. "Zoe?!" She called louder this time, still, no answer. She looked around the corner, only to see a cloaked figure. It was rummaging through a box that sat beside a desk. Emily snuck behind the cloaked person and put the tip of her blade to the small of their back. The person froze, and turned slowly. They took off their hood.....it was Candy, she was half cat at the moment. "Candy?! What the hell are you doing in my dorm?!" Emily asked. "Oh, um. I was looking for Zoe's spell book..." She admitted, rubbing her hand on the back of her neck.
"This spell book?" a voice that sounded like Zoe's said from behind them. "Yes! Gimme!" Candy reached for it. "Why? You can't use magic like this. Your not allowed." Zoe stated. "Pleeeassee!" Candy begged, turning into a dog and giving her the puppy eyes. "Just tell me what you need, maybe i'll help." Zoe said, crossing her arms over her chest. "I need a spell! Me and Abi accidentally made a really huge mess in the kitchen while baking! And Abi can't clean it up with magic because...well...she's only in charge of nature." Candy told them. Emily smirked and rolled her eyes, "Why not just clean it up by hand?" She asked, "It would take forever!" She said flailing her arms in the air. Zoe sighed, "Fine. Let's go." She gave in.
The three of them ran to the kitchens, only to be greeted by a mess of cake batter, flour, water and....ivy? "Abi!?" Emily called. "Right here!" She said with a smile on her face. "Why is there ivy everywhere?" Emily asked. "I, erm, tried cleaning it?" She said, an innocent smile now upon her face. Zoe looked around, closed her eyes, and snapped her fingers. With that, the mess was gone. "Damn, you've been practicing that one, huh?" Emily asked. "A little, how else do you think i clean the messes in the dorm?" She said, a smirk on her face.
The bell rang, "We're late for class!" Abi yelled. They all quickly ran to the history class room. "You late girls, again." Said Ms.Samantha. "Sorry!" Candy apologized. "Take your seats, this is the last time i'm letting you guys off easy, got it?" She said. They all nodded. They took their seats at their assigned desks. "Okay. Today we're going to take a little trip to the relics room! You guys are going to learn about the-" "Artifacts of the founders!" They all finished the sentence for her. "Miss, we've learned everything about them already!" Gloria, a girl in the back, called. "Well, today you actually get to see them in person." She explained.
After Ms.Samantha finished explaining how they are 'not supposed to touch' she warped them into the relics room. She led them down a hall, the girls looked at all the busts of old teachers and past principals, and most importantly, the founders. Four siblings, Arthur Mystic, Rashell Mystic, Mina Mystic and Joshua Mystic. The four founders of Mystic High, and probably some of the most important people in history. "Just a bit further, now, do any of you know what the artifacts are and who they belonged to?" Ms.Samantha asked. "Oh, oh! I know!" Emily raised her hand. "I know Arthur Mystic had the most beautiful and badass swords ever!" She said, Ms.Samantha nodded. "Oh! And Mina Mystic had a crystal, right?" Abi asked. "Don't forget about the spell book of Joshua Mystic! There was magic in it that has been banned for thousands of years!" Zoe gushed. "And of course the golden knife of Rashell Mystic!" Candy called. Ms.Samantha smiled and nodded, glad her students actually listened when she talked.
"Okay and here they...Oh my God!" Ms.Samantha yelled. Everyone rushed to the front. They saw broken glass cases and no artifacts. A few of the guards overheard the scream and ran into the room. "What's wrong miss? Oh my..." The captain said. "We have to inform the principal at once!" He yelled and dashed off with his men. All students were sent back to their dorms. The girls all went to Candy and Abi's room. "Who or what could've taken them? And why?" Abi asked. "Well, i've done research and on the underground markets, those things are worth a fortune! They're asking tens of thousands of gold pieces just for the book!" Emily said, feet on the table. Abi pushed her feet off. "We can't just sit here and do nothing!" Zoe said. "Agreed!" Emily said. "What can we do?" Candy asked.
"Well, what if we went and got the artifacts back?" Emily suggested. "And just how do you plan on doing that?" Abi asked. "We suit up, find out where they are, get them, and probably kill some orcs and evil wizards on the way!" Emily said smiling, and jumping to her feet. They all looked at each other, "I know you all think i'm crazy, and i don't blame you! But we can do it! I mean, why not?" She asked. They all smiled and nodded. They exited the dorm and went to the principals room. Emily kicked in the door, the guards and had arms ready. "Sorry. I always wanted to do that..oops?" She said. "What do you want?" Principal Ray asked, "We're going to get those artifacts back for you!" Emily yelled. The guards began laughing, Emily's face went red. Zoe saw her clench a fist, she stepped in. "We know we can do it! Laugh all you want jerks, but we know where to look, we know what we're doing..right guys?" Zoe stated and asked. "Yeah!" "Mhm!" The other two replied.
The Principal thought for a moment, "Why should i let you? What makes you girls more qualified then my best army of guards?" He asked. "We're a hardworking team, and we're smart and work well under pressure." Emily told him. The Principal nodded. "Alright. I'll let you girls go. Just don't let any one know that the artifacts are missing. Bring them back and whoever stole them, dead or alive." He said, Emily smiled at this. "Yes sir!" They all said. They ran back to their dorms to get supplies and weapons. Emily grabbed a hatchet and put it in her boot, strapped a knife to her thigh and put her sword into the sheath on her back. Her knee, forearm, and shoulder armor was on, she also grabbed her book and drawing pad and threw them into a pack. Zoe packed a bag full of spell books, potions, tablet, and her knives attached to her boots. Abi packed food and her lucky crystal, which also helped regenerate her powers. Candy grabbed her knife and made sure her cat claws were sharp.
They met back up at the entrance of the school, "Ready to head into the unknown, go on an epic quest, kill some bad guys and get the artifacts back?" Emily asked. They all nodded, still slightly unsure. "Wait!"Candy called. "We need a team name. I mean, the captains guard has squad names, Alpha, Saphire, and blaze. What are we?" She she asked. They all thought for a while, they all gasped at the same time and yelled, "Team Cairde de mo!" They smiled and high-fived. They walked out the door, ready for adventure. Four friends, will they make it? Can they get the artifacts back and catch whoever stole them? Let's hope so. To Be Continued...
