8. 162 Candles

After Vicki's sudden "disappearance", Sheriff Forbes questioned everyone who knew her to get answers. To be honest, I think she was suspicious of vampires and wasn't gonna drop the investigation just because we all decided to lie about Vicki.

As I stepped inside the Sheriff's office, I could smell the vervain inside. It was unsettling but thankfully, I could control it. "Sit down, please." Liz Forbes commanded me with a gentle smile.

I did as I was told and smiled at the blonde sheriff that was sitting across from me. "Why am I here?"

"How well did you know Vicki Donovan?" She asked me.

I knitted my eyebrows together and looked thoughtful. I couldn't tell the Sheriff that I buried a vampire after she was killed by Stefan Salvatore. And, by the way, Damon Salvatore compelled Jeremy Gilbert to forget about the girl he loved. "I didn't know her well." I responded. "Matt Donovan is my friend but Vicki and I weren't close."

Sheriff Forbes wrote down every word I said. "Do you have any idea of what happened to Vicki Donovan?"

"According to Matt, she left town and said she had no idea of when she was coming back." I repeated the fake story that Stefan fabricated.

"Thank you for coming, Amelia." I stood up after she motioned for me to go. "May I ask about your parents?" I froze at her question as I couldn't compel her to believe my big fat lie.

I turned around with the most awkward smile ever. "My parents are not in the picture. I emancipated myself last year."

Liz Forbes smiled. "Thank you for your time, Amelia." I nodded and left the office immediately.

When I got outside the station, I found Stefan and Elena sharing weird and painful looks. "Wanna walk me home, Stefan?" Elena looked at me in disgust so I did the only thing I could do. Snarky remarks. "You may not like vampires, but never forget that we saved your life after Vicki attacked you and cleaned up your mess when you asked Damon to wipe you brother's memory. So, you're welcome!" I flipped my hair and grabbed Stefan's arm.

"Did you have to be so mean to her?" He asked.

I sighed and looked at him. "Stefan, she is literally being a bitch to you. I like Elena, she's my friend, but she can't treat people like she treats you. We may not be humans anymore, but we have feelings and a vampire's feelings are hella heightened." The young Salvatore smiled at me and I winked at me. He was one of my best friends and I had faith that Elena was going to come around.

I arrived home and found Tyler at my front porch. "What are you doing here?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

Tyler stood up and smiled at me. "I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed our night and I want more."

Without giving a second thought, I ushed Tyler against my front door and kissed him passionately.I grabbed my keys and opened my door without breaking the kiss. I took off his shirt and ran my fingers through his hard chest. He took off my blouse and smirked a little, which kinda made me blush. We fell into the couch and continued to kiss when my phone started to ring. I picked it up in annoyance. "What?" I yelled.

"Hello to you too." Damon said and I rolled my eyes. I bet he was grinning like he always does.

I sighed. "I'm kinda busy right now, Damon."

Tyler raised both his eyebrows as I stood up. "Do me a favour and try to steal the crystal from Bonnie Bennett. That witch can't have that. It's mine!"

"I'm not with Bonnie right now and I'm not gonna do what you're asking." I huffed.

Damon hung up on me and I could tell he was pissed. "Do you mind if we postpone out makeout session?" I asked as I put my red blouse back on.

Tyler rolled his eyes and grabbed his shirt. "It's okay, Red." He kissed my cheek and left my house. Tyler Lockwood was a mystery to me. He could be an asshole and sweet at the same time. Damon is suck a cock block!

Bonnie texted me saying she'd be at Elena's house and I saw that as an opportunity to figure out what was so special about that crystal. Damon wanted it so much even though it clearly belonged to the Bennett bloodline. It must be the key to find out Damon's true intentions.

I rang the doorbell of the Gilbert residence and was greeted by Elena's aunt, Jenna. She was quite beautiful with her auburn hair, green eyes and radiant smile despite the fact that she was in charge of two teenagers. "Hi!" Jenna said with a smile.

"Hi! Is Elena home?" I asked as she moved for me to walk inside.

Jenna pointed to the staircase. "She's upstairs with Bonnie."

I couldn't move or else Jenna would see that I was unable to step inside her house. As a vampire, I needed to be invited in or else a barrier would push me away. One of the many perks of vampirism! "Can I come in?" I asked, my legs were trembling and my hands were sweating.

"Sure. Come in!" Jenna smiled and I walked inside, relieved that she was nice enough to let me in. "You're the new girl, right? Elena speaks very fondlly of you."

My eyes traveled around the nice house and a smile creeped into my lips. "Elena is a terrific friend."

Jenna glanced at me and smiled. "Elena's room is upstairs. If you need anything just call me. I'll be around for a couple of hours."

"Thank you." I smiled as I tucked a strand of my hair behind my ears. Once I reached Elena's room, I heard giggles and I knew Elena wasn't very comfortable around me ever since she found out about vampires. My hand twisted the doorknob and I opened her door. Bonnie smiled at me and Elena just froze at my sight. I sighed and entered the room. "Elena, can we talk?" I asked with a shy expression.

Elena got off her bed and took me to the bathroom. "I know what you are." The doe-eyed girl explained. "I promised Stefan I wouldn't tell his secret but I don't want to hang out with vampires." She whispered the last part.

I sighed and twirled my hair. "Being  vampire doesn't mean we're killers." I told her. "Do you even know why I became a vampire?" She shook her head and I leaned against the wall. "The man I loved was turned into one and I wanted to spend my eternity with him. Yeah, vampires are capable of love just like everyone else." I chuckled.

My brunette friend hugged me. "I'm sorry, Amelia. Being around Stefan is hard because he lied to me but I'm not mad at you." I smiled at her and she opened the door.

"Everything okay?" Bonnie asked us with a raised eyebrow.

Elena and I smiled at each other and sat on the bed. "Everything is perfect. Now what did you want to show me?" She asked.

Bonnie grinned and a pillow. "Grams has been teaching me stuff and I need to show you because I trust you." She turned to me. "Both of you."

My eyes widened. "You've been learning magic?"

Elena looked at us confused and Bonnie nodded. She ripped the pillow and focused on the feathers. Suddenly, the feathers started floating around us and Elena stood up on her bed, shocked but happy. I glanced at the beauty of the feathers floating around the room and smiled. The gift of magic was stunning. "Bonnie..." Elena started. "This is amazing! Thank you for trusting me." The three of us hugged and smiled.

Caroline decided to throw a party at the Mystic Grill and, coincindentally, it was Stefan's birthday. I put on a black skirt, a red velveteen top, my favorite leather jacket and black stilletos. Bonnie was already waiting for me outside the diner so we could walk inside together. "Why is Caroline throwing this party?" I asked as soon and the two of us entered the Grill.

Bonnie shrugged. "I have no idea but everyone came." She smiled.

I grinned while looking around. "Welcome to the party!" Caroline put her arms around our shoulders and smirked. "Having fun yet?" She raised an eyebrow.

"We just got here but the party looks amazing, Care." I smiled at my bubbly blonde friend.

Caroline stared at Bonnie's necklace. "Look, Bonnie, I made a mistake when I gave you that necklace."

Bonnie clutched her necklace and took a step back. "I'm not giving it back."

"Well, it's not yours!" Caroline reached for the necklace and got shocked. This crystal's mojo is strong. "What the hell!" The blonde screamed.

I put myself between my two friends and looked at Caroline. "The necklace belongs to Bonnie now and I suggest you leave it at that unless you wanna stir up some trouble."

Caroline gasped and Bonnie stared at the blonde. "You don't want this necklace. Damon does." Things just got interesting. "Tell him that if he wants my necklace, he should come for me instead of asking you to do it." Caroline Forbes was angry and confused but she walked away gracefully.

I turned to the Bennett witch and smirked. "Nice going!" We high-fived and went straight to the bar where I spotted Tyler and Matt. My two boys together.

***

At the bar, I sat near Tyler and we glanced at each other. "Hey, Amelia!" Matt Donovan greeted me, his blue eyes sparkling. "How are you?"

"I'm fine." I smiled at the blonde boy but something inside me didn't feel right. I guess I couldn't be around Matt while hiding his sister's death from him. "Can I get a beer?" I asked the bartender. He handed me the drink and then I turned to the Lockwood boy.

Tyler got closer to me and smirked. "You kinda owe me." He stated.

I licked my lips sensually and looked right into his eyes. "I'm not one to owe people anything so I believe we should come up with a solution."

"How about we ditch this party and go straight into my house?" He asked.

My eyes wandered around and I saw Damon getting rough with Caroline before he stepped outside. "Tell you what, I'll see you after the party and we can do whatever you want." I winked at him and kissed his cheek.

Matt and I locked eyes before I turned around. I overheard him talking to Tyler. "What the hell is going on between you and Amelia?"

"It's none of your business."

Was Matt jealous of me and Tyler? I mean, we were just fooling around, but still I enjoyed Tyler's company.

Once Damon got inside the Grill again, I grabbed his arm and looked into his piercing blue eyes. "What are you up to, Damon?" I glared at him.

The sneaky Salvatore smirked at me and put one hand on my shoulder. "Honestly, I do have a plan and I need the crystal and the council on my side." He shrugged. "Since I can't have the crystal, I decided to spice things up."

I dragged him to the bathroom and furrowed my eyebrows at him. "I can get the crystal from Bonnie if you tell me your plan."

"That is a decent proposal but I'm not comfortable yet to speak about my plan." Damon stated, humor in his voice.

My hand made its way to his neck. "If you so much try to harm any of my friends, I will kill you with no remorse."

Damon sighed and pulled me against the wall. "I know you would love to kill me, Amelia, but I'm not the bad guy here. All I want is to be free to love." He kissed my forehead and left.

I was not feeling good about the entire situation so I decided to follow him. I watched as Lexi, Stefan's friend, was dragged outside and I knew something was up. Outside, I found Stefan and Elena hiding out. "What's happening?" I asked.

Stefan looked at me with a worried expression. "Be quiet!" He demanded.

Lexi started to defend herself against Damon and Sheriff Forbes but to no avail. Liz shot against her but it only annoyed Lexi. Suddenly, Damon pulled out a wooden stake and buried it on Lexi's chest. The blonde vampire looked at him with a shocked expression. "Why?" She mumbled.

"It's part of the plan." Damon replied.

Tears streamed down Elena's soft cheeks so I embraced her. Stefan stood up in anger and punched the wall. "He's gonna pay for what he did."

Elena let go of my grip and placed her hand on Stefan's back. "Please Stefan, don't do anything. It's dangerous!" She begged.

I nodded at Stefan and grabbed Elena. "Do whatever you need to." I said, no emotion in my voice.

After that, I took Elena home and hoped that Stefan could get anything out of Damon. He did say he wanted to love so, perhaps, it all comes down to the love of a woman. And I think I know who she is.
