5. You're Undead to Me
It had been three days since Stefan locked Damon in the cellar without feeding and surrounded by vervain. I have to admit that not being worried about Damon's recklessness was a relief to me but I felt sorry for him. Stefan was having way too much fun with this entire situation.
I arrived at the cellar and Stefan had the little window on the door open. "Why did you call me?" I asked with my arms crossed over my chest.
"Are you sure it's impossible for Damon to escape?" Stefan asked with his eyebrows knitted together.
"Yeah. My spell is clear. Only Salvatore blood can open the door, which means only you and Zach are able to let him go." I explained with clear annoyance on my tone. Stefan was still trying to process the fact that I was part witch, but doubting my powers was slightly offensive.
Stefan looked at me. "I still can't believe you are half a witch."
I sighed while looking at Damon. "Look, I never asked to retain my powers after turning into a vampire. I know I'm a freak and don't really belong to any supernatural category."
"No. You're the most powerful vampire I have ever met and maybe that's why everyone is scared." Stefan stated. "Vampires are afraid of that kind of power. You're basically a mythical creature." He chuckled and I smiled at him. This was the first time we actually talked as friends and I could tell why Elena was drawn to him. He was kind, nice, a good listener and sweet.
Damon was starting to wake up and looked at me. "Hey, Red!" He tried to smirk but was too weak.
I smiled at him. "You need to save your strength." I warned him.
Stefan glared at his brother. "You've been locked up for the past three days after I laced Caroline's drink with vervain."
"That was clever." Damon coughed. "Where's my ring."
Stefan took a deep breath in before replying. "I am going to take you to our family's crypt in a week once you desiccate completely and become a living corpse. You won't be able to hur anyone else anymore, so you don't need your ring."
I knitted my eyebrows together, shocked by Stefan's cruelty. "This is not what I agreed to when I placed the spell on this cellar." I glanced at Damon. "You said that you would release Damon once I found out what he was hiding."
"Damon is a threat with no shred of humanity inside of him." Stefan looked at me. "He's a monster."
I scoffed at his explanation. "You're just as bad as he is." I grabbed my phone that had been beeping with texts from Caroline. "Now, I need to go to a car wash and pretend I'm actually a normal teenager."
I was baffled by Stefan's actions. Sure, I agreed to lock Damon up and even helped Stefan with his plan, but I had no idea he was going to let his brother rot in some cold crypt just out of spite.

At the car wash, the girls and I listen as Caroline explained to us the rules of the car wash and she expected us to behave accordingly. "Also, Elena what are you wearing? I specifically said that you had to bring a bikini." Elena was about to talk but Caroline interrupted her. "Nevermind. Just stay put and collect the money."
"Hey!" I turned around to see Matt behind me, his hand running through his golden hair. "I wanted to apologize for what I said at the ball."
I grabbed a bucket and a sponge and started walking. "Why should you apologize to me? You were just being honest." I filled my bucket with water and detergent.
Matt took the bucket from me and stared into my eyes. "I was a jerk and should have appreciated your company."
I rolled my eyes but got distracted by Tiki's scream after being hosed down. "Whatever, Matt. It's not like I was expecting anything to happen between us. We're just friends." I kissed his cheek and walked towards a car to wash it.

Once the car wash was over, I joined Bonnie at the Grill. "Matt apologized to me and I blew him off."
"I almost blew up a car and got Tiki all wet after getting angry at her." Bonnie stated.
I grabbed a chip and nodded. "Okay, you win. You know, witches are heavily driven by their emotions." I chewed my food and looked at my friend. "Once you've mastered control over your emotions, you will be able to control your powers. Get a grip, Bonnie!"
Bonnie looked at me with a puzzling expression. "But I don't wanna be a witch."
"Tough luck! You're already a witch and nothing's gonna change that." I glanced at Elena who was talking to an old man. "If it makes you feel better, I'm still trying to control my powers the way I want them."
"I guess..." Bonnie sighed and started eating her fries.
Magic can be overwhelming, but I really needed to know the extent of Bonnie's powers before including her in my world. I could teach her everything she needed to know about magic and her heritage for her own benefit. No one knows what she's going through besides me.
