3. Friday Night Bites

After Damon refused to tell us his true motivations, I have decided to take matters into my own hands and find out what he truly wants in Mystic Falls.

I arrived at school and saw Bonnie and Elena at the quad, so I joined them. "Hey ou two!" I smiled and they looked at me with serious faces. "What did I miss?"

Elena sighed. "Bonnie doesn't trust Stefan and wants me to back off."

"That's not what I said!" Bonnie defended herself and then turned to me. "I got a bad vibe from him and I just think she should be careful."

The doe-eyed girl looked at me. "What do you think, Amelia?"

My brown eyes widened at her question. "Look, Stefan is a cool guy but maybe Bonnie's right. I mean, what exactly do we know about him? He's way too mysterious."

Bonnie smiled and Elena rolled her eyes. Suddenly, Stefan showed up and walked towards us. "Good morning!" He greeted us with a smile. It was weird to see him smile like that.

The Bennett witch glanced at me and then turned to the couple. "I gotta go!" She grabbed my hand and I waved at Stefan, who gave me a knowing look.

"What's up?" I asked my friend.

Bonnie looked at me with furrowed eyebrows. "Do you believe in magic?" I nodded and she sighed. "When I touched Stefan I saw nothing but darkness. I think he's hiding something and I don't trust him."

I touched Bonnie and she gave me a confused look. "We all have secrets and you should respect that. Elena likes him and we should all support her."

"Who are you in love with?" She asked me.

"No one." I answered quickly before the bell rang. Bonnie Bennett was surprisingly powerful for a new witch and she wasn't even practicing magic. Honestly, when I touched her I was manipulating her into trusting me but she could sense the love I have inside of me. The love I should have killed a long time ago.

History class was quite eventful. Mr. Tanner got what he deserved once he started to pick on Stefan. As a vampire, I know we shouldn't use our immortality to our advantage in mundane stuff such as school, but watching Stefan humiliate Tanner with his knowledge of hystorical events was amusing. Suck it, Tanner!

I arrived at cheerleading practice so I could join something I knew I was good at. "Hey, girls!"

The girls smiled at me and I joined Bonnie and Elena. "I didn't know you were interested in cheerleading." Bonnie stated.

"I'm a box full of surprises. Call me Pandora!" I giggled and the girls rolled their eyes in amusement.

Elena started stretching and then turned to us. "So, I was thinking about inviting you over for dinner so Bonnie can get to know Stefan. What do you think?"

I nodded and then glanced at Bonnie. "Come on, Bon. It will be fun."

"I promise you will love Stefan once you get to know him." Elena said with pleading eyes. "Pretty please!"

Bonnie rolled her eyes and smiled. "Fine! But I'm only doing this for our friendship." Elena nodded and the three of us kept stretching in silence.

Suddenly, we heard loud music and a blue Camaro approaching. I noticed Damon and Caroline kissing before she climbed off the car with a scarf around her neck, if I had to guess, I'd say she was hiding her bite marks.

I immediately walked to Damon and glared at him. "What are you doing with Caroline? She's my friend!" I scolded him.

Damon smirked at me. "I'm just having fun, Red!" He winked before driving away. That hot bastard was getting on my last nerve.

Caroline looked at the three of us and smirked. "I guess I got the other Salvatore."

Bonnie furrowed her eyebrows. "Damon and Stefan are brothers?"

Elena nodded. "Yes. I met him when I went to their house the other day."

"Hey Caroline!" I called out for her and walked towards her. "Can I try out for the team?"

Caroline smiled excitedly. "Of course!"

I started the choreography and all the girls stopped what they were doing to watch me. Honestly, my dance moves were awesome! After I finished, Caroline approached me with a huge grin. "Welcome to the team!" She gave me a quick hug and we started the practice.

Elena was falling behind and I felt bad for her. Apparently, before she lost her parents, she was a good cheerleader, even better than Caroline. "Do you need a break?" I asked her but she shook her head.

Caroline stopped the music and turned to Elena. "Sweetie, how about you just observe today? You need time to catch up."

Elena grabbed her things and stormed off. Caroline resumed practice and I could sense some animosity between the two. Maybe that's why Damon is using Caroline as his personal blood bag... He wants to get to Elena to get back at Stefan. This dinner would be very fun!

Stefan texted me about dinner while I was getting ready. He wanted to know if Bonnie knew our secret but I assured him she had no clue. I decided to wear black high waisted pants, an off the shoulder red sweater and a black leather jacket that matched my studded black heels.

Once I arrived at the Gilbert house, Bonnie started telling us about a bad feeling she's been having. "So, is it like a witch thing?" I asked in a joking tone.

Bonnie rolled her eyes as Elena and I giggled. "No, Amelia. I keep seeing the numbers 8, 14 and 22 wherever I go, even in my sleep."

"Maybe we should play the lottery." Elena replied quickly and I couldn't help but laugh. "I need some serving spoons."

"Middle drawer on the left." Bonnie said.

Elena opened the drawer and grabbed a spoon. She looked at Bonnie with a weird expression and glanced at me. Bonnie just shrugged. "Hey Bon, how about some birthday candles?" I teased her, even though I knew she was gonna get it right.

Bonnie opened a random drawer and handed me a birthday candle. "This is so strange!" The witch said.

I grabbed the candle and got a flashback to a Bennett witch I met a few centuries before. She was powerful and tried to curse me but I killed her and now I felt guilty because I actually care about Bonnie.

Stefan arrived a while later and dinner was a little bit awkward, especially since Bonnie wasn't talking directly at Stefan who was trying to be friendly. "Have you heard about Bonnie's witch heritage?" I tried to break the ice.

"Amelia!" Bonnie gasped and elbowed me softly.

The young Salvatore smiled lightly and turned to Bonnie. "You should be proud of your heritage. Many witches were burned at the stake, including some innocent women."

Bonnie smiled at him and I could tell Elena was satisfied with her plan. "Who wants dessert?" The hostess asked before the doorbell rang.

"Let me get that." I asked Elena as I could sense Damon's scent. I opened the door and saw Caroline smiling brightly and holding Damon's hand.

The blonde kissed my cheek and entered the Gilbert residence. "I didn't know you were here." She said.

I glared at Damon as Elena approached us. "Aren't you going to invite me in?" The smoldering Salvatore asked with a smirk plastered on his face.

Stefan stood next to Elena. "This is an intimate dinner just for friends."

Elena glanced between the brothers. "Come in, Damon." She smiled softly at him while he walked inside with a winning grin.

During the last part of our meal, that being dessert, Caroline insisted on knowing all about the Salvatore family. "So Damon tells me you two fell in love with the same girl."

"Oh, Katherine..." Damon said fondly. "She was captivating and stunning." That's when I got it. Damon is back in town for Katherine, which means that she must be buried somewhere.

Stefan glared at Damon. "I'd rather not discuss Katherine with you."

I smirked. "No one likes to talk about their exes."

Bonnie giggled and turned to me. "What about your ex, Amelia?"

"My ex was toxic, handsome, cocky and had that charming smile that could turn your world upside down." My eyes were shining as I talked about him. "Of course, most psychopaths are charming."

Damon stared at me. "Your ex sounds a lot like Katherine. Wouldn't you agree, Stefan?"

After some light conversation, the girls went to the kitchen, leaving me alone with the Salvatore brothers. "You're feeding on Caroline, aren't you?" Stefan asked in a scolding tone.

I rolled my eyes. "Try to keep up, Stefan. I already scolded Damon about that earlier once I saw Caroline wearing a scarf that doesn't even suit her."

"Damon, humans are not toys you can use for your amusement." Stefan stated.

The smoldering Salvatore moved closer to his brother. "Au contraire, my brother. Now that I have been invited in, I can come here every night and do whatever I want to Elena." He smirked. "Isn't that swell?"

I shot daggers at Damon with my eyes, until the girls arrived. Shortly after, I said goodbye to my friends and went home. I had to find out all I could about Katherine and the Salvatore brothers.

The next day, it was the big football game, the first of the season. I admit, I was nervous about my first official cheerleading event, especially since Matt was going to be there. Bonnie soon showed up and greeted me. "Ready for the big game?" She asked me.

"I was born ready." I smirked and then looked at Matt. "Too bad he's still hung up on Elena."

Bonnie glanced at the blonde boy and then looked at me. "I say go for it!" She stated with a smile on her face. "You're a nice girl who genuinely likes him so don't be afraid. Matt is one of the best guys in Mystic Falls."

I nudged her softly and we smiled at each other. Then, Elena approached up with a worried expression. "What's up?" I smiled at her.

Elena turned to Bonnie. "When you touched Stefan, what did you see?"

"It felt like death to me." She responded. "But that was before I got to know him, Elena. Stefan is a good guy and my bad vibe is gone."

"Thanks." Elena rushed away from us.

My mind was racing a million thoughts. Was Elena suspicious of Stefan? "What got into her?" I asked.

Bonnie shrugged. "I have no idea."

After the game, I grabbed my gymn bag and walked outside. "Wait up!" I heard Matt's voice and turned to him with a huge smile. "You looked great back there."

I tucked a piece of my red hair behind my ear and smiled. "Thanks. And you were definitely the best player on that field."

Matt bumped his arm against mine and we just stared at each other. A few seconds later, he moved his gaze and frowned. "What the hell?"

I turned around and saw Mr. Tanner's dead body on the ground. "We need to call 911."

As the ambulance took the body away, I noticed Bonnie's shocked expression. Then I realized the numbers she was obsessed with. Building 8, the 14 on the licence plate of a random car and the parking space 22. The exact spot we found Tanner's body. Bonnie predicted his death. Fascinating!

"Are you okay?" I asked my friend.

"The numbers... Mr. Tanner..." Bonnie babbled.

I hugged her and assured her everything was going to be okay. To be honest, I had no idea if it was just a coincidence or if that's what she meant by death when she touched Stefan. Could he be involved?
