Cloaks and Family lines

The group was on another mission to retrieve some papers, but the problem is that someone would have to stay behind to watch Luce.

But then Jasmine spoke up. "Maybe we don't have to." She then gave a small bottle to Luce, and then took out a what appeared to be a cloak with an interesting pattern.

"What will that do?" Lal said, knowing it must be a mystic item.

"Luce, I need you to wear this. It'll help." Jasmine said as she put the cloak around Luce's body, and to everyone's surprise, her body vanished.

"How?" Fon asked as Jasmine smiled.

"Remember that story I told you a few days back?" Jasmine teased.

It didn't take even a braniac to put two and two together.

"Wait a minute. You mean? That's Death's Cloak of Invisability?! The one Ignotius got from Death himself?!" Viper asked.

"Yup. Ignotius was my 27 times great-grandfather, basically my ancestor. And since his older brothers were foolish enough to let themselves get tricked by Death, he was left to inherit the family title." Jasmine explained.

"Amazing." Verde said, pushing up his glasses.

"Family title? You mean he was wealthy?" Luce asked.

"Another time. Right now, we got a mission to do." Reborn piped up, getting his gun ready.

It didn't take long for chaos to be unleashed on the enemy familgia.

----------------------------------

Afterwords, they were making their way back to the base when Viper finally walked up to Jasmine.

"Let me get this arranged in my head though," Viper said as the others turned their attention to the purplenette.

"Your ancestor Ignotius, and the Cloak were real, so the whole story you told us is true as well?"

"You think we just make up these stories on the spot? Besides, the one who started this story was Ignotius' son after he received the cloak. Since then, the story and the cloak have been passed on for generations, and we've always died of old age. Though an average Mystic's life span is 3 times that of a muggles'." Jasmine said.

"Muggle?" Luce asked.

"A term we use for non-mystics." Jasmine said, earning a nod from the pregnant woman.

"You also mentioned about a family title with him. Was Ignotius' family rich?" Viper asked.

Jasmine rolled her eyes at this, but this was Viper of course.

"You could say that. In fact, in the same way Vongola is prioritized above all of the mafia world, in it's prime, the Peverell Family was the most influential mystic family. Although Cadimus did die, before hand, he was in an arranged marriage and had a kid prior to meeting the maiden who had her untimely death. His own son liked the maiden too in comparison to his cold mother, who only cared about status. Some people even think she may have arranged the death of the woman who seduced Cadimus away from her. Cadimus may have found out about it, and probably divorced her but he was unable to claim custody of his son. And you know the rest of his story from there." Jasmine explained.

"Ah, as they say, 'hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.'" Reborn said.

"Afterwards, his kid did inherit the Stone, and he eventually succumbed to a similar fate; suicide. In fact those of Cadimus' line usually died because of the Stone's ability to not only show the dead, but because it caused despair and hopeless longing, and they would be lucky to live long enough to have a least more than one kid if any." Jasmine said.

"Pity." Verde shook his head.

"Wait, what about the oldest brother? Anitoch? Did he have any family?" Luce asked.

"I searched the family tree myself, but he didn't. He never had a wife or kids, so he died alone. He wanted not only the power to show his 'invincibility' but apparently he wanted to secure his 'rightful place' as head of the family and sought the power to do it. But the Elder Wand was known as 'The Cursed Wand' or 'The Tainted Wand' for a reason. Centuries worth of bloodshed was caused over that wand. So, in short, The Elder Wand provokes death and triggers conflict, the Stone shows the dead but causes despair, and the Cloak evades death and provides safety." Jasmine said as she drew the mark of the Hallows on a piece of paper. "Together, they form the Deathly Hallows; items that once belonged to Death. It's also said if a mystic gains true possession of all of them, they make one Master of Death."

"Master of Death? You mean they can make that person immortal?!" Lal asked surprised.

Jasmine smiled and shook her head. "A lot of people assume the same thing, but no. It's more of a title than anything, but from what my ancestors believed, the Master of Death truly acknowledges and accepts that Death is another part of life, nothing can truly evade it, and there are other things worse than dying."

"Very true, Jasmine." Fon nodded.

Then Jasmine smiled. "To be honest, I gained possession of all of the Deathly Hallows a few years back. And I gained that title in the process."

That gained her the looks of the people in the room as Jasmine left to her room.

'Master of Death, a wealthy woman, and a lineage that could be equivalent to Vongola. What else?' Reborn thought.

-----------------------------------

His question would be answered within the next few weeks...

Along with other things....

--------------------------------------------

Here's the next chapter, I also added my own insight of what happened to the brothers and the explanation of Cadimus.

Next, I plan to have Reborn and Jasmine in a impromptu date undercover.

What else should I do for when Jasmine becomes an Arcobaleno? I need suggestions, so feel free to put in some inputs.

Thank you and stay safe everyone!
