Because Hank decided to leave (to God knows where), Chase ordered himself and Connor a taxi. The world warped in and out of Chase's vision, with the blackness crawling out of the shadows as if to invade his mind. He blinked it away, trying to focus on anything else. The memories of Seán's childhood came flooding back to him though, mixing and warping in with his own memories.

"Chase, what do you think about these deviants?" Connor asked.

Chase knew what he thought. He thought androids- especially deviants- should be killed off. Just the idea that he sat next to an android made his blood boil. But that's not what came out of his mouth.

"Uh... Androids... I..." His mouth struggled to form the words that he wished so desperately to speak.

Connor nodded, "It's alright. You have been dissociating for the past half an hour, and we are about to approach your apartment, so it probably wasn't the best time for me to ask that."

No shit, Chase wanted to grumble. His mouth didn't move though, which was probably a good thing. Chase noticed his apartment coming up and how Evelien stood outside. She had a coat wrapped tightly around her body, and the pale pink pajamas she wore underneath probably weren't helping her feel warm.

The taxi slowed, playing the automated message. Chase turned as if his body had been sucked into sludge. His head pounded with each step he took.

Pat pat pat pat pat- Evelien's arms wrapped around his body. "You're okay, thank goodness you're okay."

Chase nodded, wrapping his own arms around Evelien's waist. He took a deep breath, shutting his eyes and trying to recall what happened through the night. Chase tucked his head into her chest, steam forming against his face with each breath he puffed out.

"Let's get you inside," Evelien mumbled, turning. Together, the pair walked up the stairs without a word. Chase rubbed his head, fighting off sleep with each blink.

"What took so long?" Evelien whispered as she unlocked the door.

"Hank... Park..." Chase managed, watching as the world snapped away suddenly. He rubbed his eyes, he needed to be here for just a few more minutes.

Evelien's eyebrow rose hung her jacket up, "Who's out right now?"

"Chase," Finally a question that didn't need too much thought.

"You must be exhausted," Evelyn whispered. She came behind Chase and pulled his jacket off, hanging it up next to hers.

Chase heaved a sigh, running a hand down his face. "Hank was..." Just get down there you damn word! "Drinking."

Evelien nodded, "Do you want to try and talk about it? Or do you need help grounding?"

The possibilities swam impossibly slow through Chase's mind. Frustration would have boiled up, but his exhaustion clouded his mind. "Sleep."

"Sleep works. Come on, let's get you to bed."

When Seán opened his eyes later the sun had just begun to peak through the window. He swung his feet over the edge of the bed and sighed, taking in the silent room. Seán couldn't hear the ever-so-soft breathing of Evelien, so he had to assume that she was either working or getting ready to work. What day is it again?

The digital clock on his nightstand beeped its good morning tone as it sensed Seán moving through the room. A quick glance told Seán that he'd only been asleep for a few hours. At least, he hoped that Chase had gotten them to sleep at a decent time. He couldn't tell if he was still tired from last night, or if his body was fatigued from switching.

Seán looked at his uniform hanging in the closet. Maybe he'd wear it today. He pulled it off the hanger, and within a minute or two he actually looked like a cop. He had to admit, it felt nice. Seán stepped to the mirror and watched as the word 'Detective' flashed across his back. He tapped the sleeve a couple of times and watched as the word disappeared from his back and arm. Now it just looked like a normal windbreaker.

He stepped out of the bedroom, passing his shoes in the hall. Seán sighed and stepped into them, wiggling his feet so that they slipped in. He needed to get going for work.

BB meowed from his spot on the couch as Seán passed by. A quick glance into BB's bowl showed that he had already been fed. "Oh, BB," Seán laughed softly, patting the cat's head.

"Morning, Seán. Don't forget, you've got that report due today," Chase reported.

"Morning to you too, Chase. Thanks for the reminder," Seán stepped out of the apartment, locking it behind himself and stepping into the cool morning air.

The walk to the station remained mostly uneventful. Of course, Seán passed by the usual anti-android protests. He grabbed a coffee from Joe's, sipping the warm beans and barely musing over starting his own business. As he passed by the park fountain, he noticed a familiar man sitting on the edge.

"I don't need to give you directions again, do I?" Seán laughed as he approached him.

Markus looked up, "Oh, hello Seán!" He sounded cheerful, but Seán could see another feeling in his eyes.

"Everything alright?" Seán asked, sitting next to the man.

Markus nodded, "Yes, I'm just thinking."

Seán took a sip of the warm coffee, "I would certainly hope so. How is your family holding up, with your father being gone now?"

"Well," Markus hesitated. Seán watched his jaw briefly clench, "Everyone is scrambling to understand. I've had to pick up a lot of work in order to care for everyone."

Seán sighed, "Yeah, that seems to be how it goes when someone major dies in a family." Seán looked at his watch and winced, "I'm running a bit late for work, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out if you want to call in, even if you just need to talk to someone."

Markus nodded, "Thank you, I appreciate that."

"Of course. Go forth and kick today's ass, alright man?" Seán quickly patted Markus' shoulder and stood.

"Something seems off about him," Chase grumbled.

"You always say that," Seán began to walk again, rounding the corner of the plaza.

"No, he has a dent in his forehead where an LED would be," Chase pointed out. A brief memory played in Seán's mind, highlighting a dent right where Chase said.

"Chase, everyone has a dent there, that's where a jaw muscle goes." Seán insisted, rounding another corner. The station is just ahead, just make it there.

"He still gives me weird vibes, Seán."

"And that's understandable. You just can't keep letting the vibes completely lead you." Seán stepped inside the precinct, dusting off his hair as he passed through the atrium.
