Chapter 33

Happy New year!!

Michael's heart thumped loudly in his chest at the intense look the superior Angels were giving him. As if Jessie could feel his emotions, she held his hands and squeezed them tightly, and relief instantly washed over him.  Michael was grateful for the comfort Jessie gave him. He smiled at her, and Jessie leaned towards him to peck his lips. She did not care if the other angels were watching them. What mattered to her was her husband's comfort.

"Please sit down." Raphael gestured at the couch.

Immediately, the superior Angels sat down, and the other Angels followed suit.

The entire family was silent as they waited for the superior Angels to speak, but for some reason, the superior Angels remained quiet, which made Michael bite his lips until he could taste his blood.

The entire family looked at each other and wondered why the Angels were so silent. Raphael cleared his throat in an attempt to speak, but his motion seemed to pull the superior Angels out of their reverie.

"What is the question that is bothering you all and you desire answers to?"

Raguel frowned. He thought the superior angels knew the questions they needed answers to. He glanced at Michael, who nodded his head, giving him the go-ahead to ask the questions on his behalf.

Raguel blew out a breath before he said, "Michael and Jessie can hear each other's thoughts which is not possible because they are not bonded soulmates. So, we are all confused. Why is this happening?”

The superior Angels glanced at Michael, which caused his breath to get hitched in his throat. He silently prayed that whatever the Angels were going to say would be good. He wasn't sure if he could handle any bad news.

But a massive smile tugged on the lips of the superior Angels, and a tender chortle escaped their mouths. Everyone glimpsed at them, puzzled because the superior Angels were now laughing at a very crucial question.

"Isn't it obvious?" one of the superior angels said.

Everyone glanced at each other to see if any of them could comprehend what the Angels were insinuating. However, the entire family was more and more confused.

"They are Soulmates. Destined Soulmates," the other superior Angel emphasized.

Michael's mouth hung open, and he shut his mouth after a few seconds, only to open it again to ask them a question. However, nothing came out of his mouth. He didn’t even know how to phrase a sentence.

"How is it possible?" Jessie said. She was the first one to recover from what the Angels had said. She didn't know if she believed them. 'Will a superior Angel lie?' she questioned herself.

"There is no soulmate connection between them," Raguel pointed out.

"Who said there is no soulmate connection between them?" the superior angels said in unison.

Raguel frowned at the Angels. He simply wanted a direct answer from them, but the superior angels seemed to enjoy puttering with them.

"Have you felt a Soulmate connection with Jessie before?" Raguel asked Michael, who slowly shook his head.

The superior angels smiled. "You have felt it, Michael, but you did not realize it because, in your mind, you have completely blocked out the thought of ever having a soulmate."

Michael closed his eyes and thought hard. And he snapped his eyes open when it subsequently clicked. “I felt a connection with Jessie when I was in the demon’s zone. I felt like she was leading me to her."

"Hold her hands." The superior Angels gestured at Jessie.

Michael casually took Jessie's hand without considering why the angel would ask him to hold her hands. However, he unexpectedly gasped at the tingling sensation he had experienced. He looked at Jessie and knew she had felt the same sensation too.

"They are connecting a bond.” Raguel gasped, surprised.

Michael couldn't look away from Jessie. He had always dreamt of connecting a Soulmate bond with someone, but he could not believe that his dream had become a reality with his wife. A tear slipped from his eyes as he stared lovingly at Jessie. She slowly pulled her hands out of his and hugged him tightly.

The entire family smiled lovingly at them. They were glad to witness their lovely moment. After a few seconds, they pulled out of the hug; however, they stayed close to each other

"I know you all desire an explanation."

Everyone nodded their heads in agreement, which made the superior Angels smile.

"The soulmate bond was never removed; it has always been there. It was just suppressed. How did you think Jessie located you guys? Do you think it is easy for anyone to locate where Angels are? Yes, there may be rumours around that Angels are on Earth, but we lead the humans to us here, or the human who has supernatural powers can locate you guys. Jessie is right here because we led her here." The Angels remained quiet for a while, and then they smiled and shook their heads. "Regardless of what you did in Heaven, Michael, we can never deny an Angel of their bonded soulmate. That would be cruel."

"Why lie to me if the bond was never removed?"

"It was necessary. Had you not believed that you had been punished severely, the other Angels would have used that as leverage to rebel against Heaven.”

Michael nodded his head in understanding. He still could not believe he had a Soulmate. Everything felt like a dream to him.

"Michael," the Superior angel's call pulled him out of his thoughts.

He glanced at them and gave them his full attention.

"We want you to know that Heaven has forgiven you for your crime, and we no longer hold any resentment against you."

Michael squeezed his eyes tightly. He had waited to hear those words from the Superior angels for a long time now. He opened his eyes and glanced at his family, who had massive smiles on their faces. Jessie hugged him, and he held on to her tightly. After a few seconds, he pulled out of the hug and looked at the superior angels. "Thank you."

The superior angels nodded their heads in acknowledgment. "Since you have been forgiven, we can now relieve you from your extra duties as a Guardian Angel."

Michael quickly shook his head. "I don't mind being a Guardian Angel. So many humans need help, and I'm glad I can provide them with help. So, if you don't mind, I would like to continue being a Guardian Angel."

"Very well then.” The Superior angels stood up. “Our job here is done.” They nodded curtly at everyone. “Till we meet again.” They spread their wings and soared back to Heaven.

Raguel went towards Michael as soon as the angels left and hugged him tightly. "I'm so happy for you."

The entire household took turns in hugging them as well.

"This is a double congratulations to you two," Samael said as he placed his hand on Michael's shoulder and gave it a little squeeze. "You have indeed come a long way, son, and you deserve all the happiness you are getting. I'm so proud of you."

Michael leaned in and hugged the man who gave him hope, the man who gave him the strength to move on, the man who was there for him always, the man who taught him everything he knew. "It's all thanks to you," Michael whispered in his ears.

They pulled out of the hug with a smile on their faces. "Well, this calls for celebration," Elena said, which made the whole family shout in agreement.

They all laughed as they made their way to the dining room. Michael held out his hands for Jessie, which she gladly took. Michael kissed the back of her hands before they joined the rest of their family at the dining table.
