Michael ran his fingers down Jessie's arms. He watched her sleep soundly. He was delighted as Jessie was sleeping properly. She had woken up so many times at night because she kept on having nightmares. Michael sighed and tried to stand up from the mattress, but Jessie held onto him tightly.
He peeped to see if Jessie was awake. However, her eyes were still closed. Michael didn't struggle. He rested his back and continued to stare at Jessie as she slept.
A few minutes later, he heard a knock on the door. Michael glanced at Jessie, who didn't stir at the sound.
“Come in,” Michael said.
Michael watched Elena enter the room and shut the door behind her back.
“Jessie do...” Elena trailed off when she turned around and noticed Michael in the room. Her eyes moved to Michael’s hands wrapped around Jessie. Elena didn't know what to say, so she just stared at him.
Michael knew how the scene seemed to be like; holding onto Jessie whilst she slept would send a different message to someone looking at them. He didn't care what Elena thought about the position they were in.
“Jessie is still sleeping,” Elena said softly. She didn't know what else to say. Different thoughts were running through her mind.
Michael nodded his head. “She didn't get enough sleep last night. She kept on having nightmares,” he explained.
“You were here all night?” Elena asked.
“Yes.”
“I guess I have to leave her to sleep then,” Elena said.
Michael nodded his head. He watched Elena leave and close the door.
It took another hour before Jessie started to wake up. She felt comfortable, and she wondered why. Then Jessie felt a finger trailing down her arm, and that's when she remembered she had asked Michael to stay with her.
Jessie was sincerely surprised Michael was still in the room with her. Moreover, Jessie had woken up and snuggled further into him, pressing her face to his side.
‘I can stay right here forever,’ she thought to herself.
“Are you awake, Jessie?” Michael asked.
Jessie refused to answer the question. She wanted to stay in bed with Michael, so she remained silent.
She heard Michael chuckle. "I know you are awake, Jessie,” Michael said.
Jessie groaned and rolled off Michael. She sat up straight and stared at him.
“Good morning,” Michael greeted.
“Good morning,” Jessie replied.
“I didn't guess you would still be here,” Jessie said.
“Do you think I would have left you when you were having a terrible time sleeping?” Michael asked.
“No, but- ”
“I'm sorry about yesterday, Jessie,” Michael said, cutting her off.
“No. I should be the one apologizing,” Jessie said.
“You don't need to apologize. I understand you acted out of fear, and I'm sorry for raising my voice at you,” Michael apologized.
“I'm sorry too,” Jessie whispered.
“Raguel and I captured a demon yesterday,” Michael announced.
“Really? Did he say anything about my sister?” She asked quickly.
“No. He was unconscious when we brought him back home. However, we are going to interrogate him today.”
“I hope he tells us where my sister is,” Jessie whispered.
They remained silent for a while before Michael spoke. “Elena was here earlier on,” Michael stated while standing up from the bed. He felt he should let her know. Michael didn't know what Elena thought when she saw them in bed. He just wanted to give Jessie a heads up.
“Really? Does that mean she saw - ”
“Yes,” Michael responded before Jessie could complete her sentence. “I will head downstairs now,” he motioned towards the door.
Jessie nodded her head and watched Michael leave.
When Michael came downstairs, he went straight to the living room and sat down.
“Hey, Michael,” Raguel said when he entered the living room.
“Hey,” Michael responded with a smile.
“I didn't see you when I came downstairs earlier on. I thought you went out,” Raguel said.
‘That means Elena didn't say anything to Raguel.’ Michael was glad she didn't say anything. He didn't know what he would have said to Raguel if she did. “I went to see Jessie,” he said aloud.
“How is she?” Raguel asked.
“Not good. She had nightmares Michael left the part where he spent the night in Jessie's room. ‘He doesn't need to know that,’ he said in his mind.
“Too bad,” Raguel said. “Have you talked to Grey about interrogating the demon?” Raguel asked.
“No. He hasn't come downstairs yet,” Michael said.
“Okay.”

Jessie was still seated on her mattress. She remembered the way Michael’s soft-spoken words had calmed her down through the course of the night and the way his hand felt wrapped around her. She sighed and stood up from the mattress, and made her way to the restroom. Jessie stripped her clothes and stared at her reflection in the mirror before she turned on the shower.
When she was done bathing, she put on her clothes and made her way downstairs. Jessie met Elena's eyes when she entered the living room. Elena motioned for Jessie to join her in the kitchen. Jessie nodded her head and went into the kitchen.
“Good morning,” Elena greeted.
“Good morning,” Jessie replied.
“How was your night?” Elena asked.
“Horrible,” Jessie said. ‘But also comfortable because I had Michel's arms wrapped around me,’ she wanted to say but kept that part to herself.
“So I heard. Michael told me you had nightmares
They suddenly fell silent. Jessie knew Elena still had something to say.
“I know you have feelings for Michael,” Elena later spoke up.
Jessie looked at Elena but didn't deny; neither did she agree with what Elena said. She remained quiet.
“You don't have to reply to that,” Elena said. “It's written all over your face.”
Jessie was waiting for Elena to tell her to stay away from Michael, but Elena didn't say any of those things.
“I don't want you to get hurt, Jessie. I consider you as my friend now, and I would not want you to be heartbroken when Michael finally finds his soulmate. I hope you understand, Jessie?”
Jessie nodded. She knew there would be a day when Michael would find his soulmate. “Thank you,” she whispered.
“No need to thank me,” Elena stated as she pulled Jessie into a hug. They stood there for some time before Elena pulled back. “Go take a seat at the dining table.”
“Okay.”
Jessie sat down, and Elena brought her food. She dug her spoon into her plate of food and started eating. When she was done, she carried her plates to the kitchen. After that, she made her way to the living room and sat down. She stole a look at Michael, who seemed to be in a serious conversation with Raguel.
She sighed and averted her eyes. She rested her back on the couch and centered her attention on the TV.
Jessie heard footsteps. She looked up and noticed Ariel and Grey making their way down the stairs.
“Good morning,” they said in unison.
“Grey,” Michael called.
“Yes,” Grey answered and moved closer to Michael.
“I want you to help me with something?” Michael said.
“What is it?” Grey asked.
“We've got a demon in the basement,” Michael said.
“Why did you bring a demon home?” Grey asked as he subconsciously drew Ariel closer to him. He hated the idea of a demon in their home.
“That's what I want to speak to you about,” Michael replied.
Grey nodded his head and waited for Michael to speak.
“We want you to help us interrogate the demon. We are certain he could tell us where Jessie's sister is.”
“Okay,” Grey said. “Let's go now,” he added.
“I'm coming with you guys,” Jessie said, standing up from the couch.
“Are you sure?” Michael asked. He didn't want her to feel disappointed should the demon refuse to tell them where her sister was.
“Yes, Jessie replied.
“Alright. Let's go,” Michael stated as he led the way to the basement.
When they reached the basement, the demon was conscious and was struggling to get out of the rope.
“Don't struggle,” Michael said.
“Let me go!” The demon demanded. “You will regret this,” he added sternly.
“Shut up!” Grey growled.
“You!” the demon glared at Grey. “You are a disgrace to the demon's race, having fallen in love with that creature,” the demon pointed at Ariel.
Grey lost it and lunged for the demon. He had a tight grip around the demon's neck. “Don't you ever point a finger at my soulmate,” Grey yelled angrily, placing more force around the demon's neck.
Michael had to pull Grey away from the demon before he would strangle him to death.
Grey took a deep breath whilst Ariel kept whispering soothing things to Grey through their mind link. When he was calm, he turned his attention to the demon.
“Tell me where her sister is,” Grey said, pointing at Jessie.
“And if I don't, what will you do?” the demon challenged.
Grey punched the demon very hard, which made blood drip down his face. “Now tell me where she is,” Grey demanded.
“I don't know anything,” the demon mumbled stubbornly.
“Yes, you do,” Michael said, giving the demon another punch.
“Tell us now,” Grey demanded.
“Fine!” the demon spat. “She is in the demon zone.”
“We know she is in the demon zone. Where exactly is the demon zone?” Grey asked.
After the death of Grey's Uncle, the demons moved from where they lived to a different location, and Grey had no idea where the new location of the demon zone was. He didn't know who was leading the demons. Perhaps it was his brother. But he didn’t really care to know.
The demon took a deep breath before he gave them the location of the demon zone. “However, let me warn you,'' the demon said. “It's not easy to get into the demon's zone.”
“Let us worry about that,” Michael said.
"Are you certain my sister is still alive?" Jessie whispered sadly.
The demon looked at her for a few seconds before he nodded his head. Turning back to Michael, the demon demanded, “Now let me go.”
“No,” Michael said. “We still have use for you.”
With that, they left the basement, leaving the demon alone.
