29-👻Unknown Number👻
I went back to Drishti's room after seeing the caller id of the person who was calling Ishan.
Drishti was still on the floor, sobbing with her head bowed.
"Looking at your condition, someone would think that you were the victim," I taunted while entering the room.
Upon hearing my voice, she raised her head to look at me with scornful eyes.
"Couldn't you wait for some more time? It's not even five minutes since you asked me to decide. Atleast give me ten minutes," she sneered.
"Ten minutes? I was going to give you a whole day but something made me comeback," I answered, walking near where she was sitting.
A sarcastic chuckle left her lips. Tilting her head a little to look at me, she spitted out her words.
"I will surrender. Now leave me alone."
"Surrender?" Ishan questioned, entering Drishti's room.
"What are you doing here? Leave right now," Drishti shouted at him, looking scared.
"Yeah tell him to go back to his room and pick up the call. His best friend has called him twice till now," I spoke, folding my hands.
"Best friend's call?" Drishti questioned, looking confused.
Ishan opened his mouth to say something but their mom came in before he could mutter a word.
"Drishti why are sprawled on the floor, get up. And you Ishan, keep your phone with you, it is ringing continuously," his mom said handling him, his phone.
"After your phone call is done, I want both of you to come in living room. We need to talk about the car's condition." Giving a stern look to both of them, their mom left the room.
As soon as the word 'Car' got out from his mother's mouth, colour drained from Ishan's face.
Coughing a little, Ishan composed himself.
"Drishti, how did you know about my best friend's call? I mean you haven't left the room then..how?" Ishan asked looking scared.
"Yeah, Drishti tell him how you got to know about it," I taunted.
"Why the hell are you still here? I told you that I will surrender. Now leave me alone," Drishti screamed at me, forgetting that her little brother was in the same room.
Ishan rushed towards Drishti, passing through my body in process.
"Drishti, what's wrong? Who are you talking to? And what surrender you are talking about?" Ishan asked, putting hands on her shoulders.
"Ishan, leave from this room. I will tell you everything later but just go right now," Drishti pushed him away.
Unfortunately for her, Ishan's worry increased by hearing to her words and instead of leaving, he sat down beside her.
"Why don't you understand?" Drishti cried, pushing him to leave.
"Then make me understand. What's going on? What surrender are you talking about? How did you know my best friend was calling me? And why the hell were you talking when there was no one in the room?" Ishan fired the questions in one go.
"Do you think I am mad to talk into thin air? I was talking to Maira, you idiot. She was the one who told me about the call. Got your answer, now leave," Drishti screamed the answers with a crazed look in her eyes.
At this rate, she wouldn't even take a week for loosing her mind.
Ishan looked shaken up but still tried to look strong.
Placing the back of his hand on Drishti's forehead, he spoke to her gently.
"Drishti, I think you are not feeling well and hence you are talking about all such things. Come and lie down on the bed. You will feel better after taking some rest," he said, trying to make Drishti stand.
Jerking his hand off, Drishti screamed, "Do you think I am hallucinating? I am not sick. She is there here, has always been here with me since the day of her funeral. How else do you think I knew about the your friend's call when your phone was in your room? She told me."
Ishan looked pale, understanding the whole situation.
"By...by surrender...what did you?" Ishan stuttered.
Drishti blinked, trying to wordlessly hint him something but Alas! It didn't work.
"Drishti? What surrender?" Ishan asked again, looking desperate now.
"About her murder. I will have to go to the police station and surrender or else Maira will.....," Drishti started explaining but Ishan interrupted.
"No no no. Maira don't hurt Drishti. It was me. Yes me, I was the one who killed you. Please don't hurt my sister or my family. I am the culprit, don't hurt them," Ishan begged, looking totally at a wrong direction, from where I was standing.
"Ishan stop. What are you doing?" Drishti stood up and ran to him, trying to stop him from speaking.
"She is a ghost. Don't know what she will do to our family," Ishan answered, looking scared out of his wits.
"Oops, looks like your brother doesn't know that I don't have any powers. Poor him, he blurted out everything thinking that I had some supernatural power to harm everybody," I snickered.
"Ishan is lying. Just like you said, he thinks that you can harm us and that's why he is lying to protect me. Don't listen to him," Drishti said, coming in front of Ishan, trying to hide him from me.
The reality was actually the other way round. It was Drishti who was lying to protect her little brother.
"There's no use of lying Drishti. That phone call gave away the whole truth," I spoke, confusing the hell out of Drishti.
"Phone call?" She asked.
"Yup, the call from Ishan's best friend. Do you know the funny part? It was the number we were searching for.
The starting five numbers that matched with Aman's number.
"It was the same number that messaged me that night."
