23-👻Luck👻

Drishti's work was done and now it solely depended on Veena Aunty and our luck for this plan to succeed. Till now it was on our side as Aunty didn't notice the balloon hid in Drishti's palm as she only showed her upper side of the wrist, hopefully our luck would still last when the part II of our plan comes in action.

Smiling, they both parted their ways. Drishti went towards her home while I followed Veena Aunty.

Reaching Alisha's home, Veena Aunty greeted Alisha with a smile and placed her bag on the counter with a thump, causing the water balloon to burst and leaking her bag.

I was glad that I remembered how annoyed I got everytime because Veena Aunty never placed her bag gently. She was a creature of habit and this habit helped me today.

"Oh God! Where did the water came from? My bag," Veena Aunty emptied her bag on the counter to protect the things inside it from getting wet.

"Here, wipe your things with it," Alisha said handling a cloth to wipe out the water.

"Oh No!" Veena Aunty exclaimed in shock as Drishti's bracelet dangled in her hand.

"Is this yours? It looks expensive," Alisha commented with raised eyebrows.

"No no, it's not mine. How did it come here? Maybe it fell while we were talking. What should I do? Poor child would get a heart attack when she realizes that she lost her bracelet," Veena Aunty muttered to herself, wiping the sweat from her forehead, looking stressed.

"Relax relax. Just inform the owner that you have it. Problem solved," Alisha suggested.

"Right. This is a good idea. Dear will you call her for me? I don't have mobile," Veena Aunty requested.

"Sure but do you remember her number?" Alisha asked, making me realize the loophole in my plan.

Shit! I forgot about this part. All this planning and plotting went down the drain because of my stupid mistake.

"I have everyone's number written in my diary. Wait I will see and tell you," Veena Aunty excitedly went through her things and finally got her small diary from the pile.

The diary was wet from the edges because of the water balloon.

Veena Aunty was a saviour. If not for her diary, our plan would have flopped. Luck was surely on my side today.

"Where is it? Where is it? Oh! Here it is," She muttered to herself while searching the number.

She happily forwarded the diary to Alisha and showed her the contact she needed to dial.

"Drishti? What a coincidence? I also know a Drishti," Alisha amused.

"Really? Wow! The Drishti I know is a great person, infact she is also a dancer like you. What about the Drishti you know? Who is she?" Aunty asked curiously after babbling about my bestie.

Alisha turned pale upon hearing the description. Her reaction was expected but hopefully she wouldn't refuse to help.

"Dancer? How do you know her?" Alisha questioned back.

"She is best friend of Maira. I met the sweet child while working at Maira's house. Maira was also a dancer. What a great coincidence!" Veena Aunty answered happily.

"Wow! You talk so much yet you never told me about working in my enemy's house."

To say Alisha looked shocked was an understatement.

"Enemy? Who? Maira? Why?" Veena Aunty fired the single worded questions, too shocked to form a sentence.

Alisha waved her hand in dismissal.

"It was nothing. Just an usual enmity between competitors," Alisha said offhandedly while trying to dial Drishti's number.

"What is this? I tried calling her three times but she keeps rejecting my calls. Does she know my number? Is that why she is not picking up?" Alisha looked offended.

"How would I know?" Veena Aunty answered in a small voice.

"I wasn't asking you in particular. But why isn't she picking up?" Alisha muttered in frustration.

"O! O, I remember. Does your number start with nine? Drishti told me that her phone is not accepting the calls from such numbers," Veena Aunty questioned, hitting the Jackpot.

I made this plan knowing Alisha's original number started with nine, whereas the unknown number that messaged me started with eight.

"Oh yeah, My number starts with nine," Alisha answered.

"Do you have any other phone? Or if you don't, Can you ask your neighbour to let us use their phone? It is really important to inform Drishti about this bracelet," Veena Aunty asked, biting her nails in worry.

"Come on, Alisha. Use your other sim. Come on," I pleaded, even though she couldn't hear me.

"I have another number. I will try calling from it," Alisha said and called Drishti.

YES! YES! YES!

I danced all the way from Alisha's house to Drishti's to know the result of our plan.
