22-👻Bait👻

Now we only had two suspects - Alisha and Mrunal's coach. I personally had more doubts on Alisha but as Drishti had once said, we couldn't rule out anybody just based on my instincts.

"Who should we approach now?" Drishti asked as we walked side by side.

"You have been running around too much these days. You can take some rest if you want," I offered.

Aa much as I was glad that Drishti was helping me, I wasn't ignorant to the fact that all these work was taking a toll on her health.

"No, not now. I will go and rest peacefully after we catch the murderer. We are so close. Almost all the suspects have been cancelled off. We can't take a break right now and please don't worry about me, I am okay. So what should we do? Do you have a plan?" Drishti rejected my offer, looking determined.

Looking at her with a grateful smile, I too nodded, replicating her determination.

"Well I do have a plan and we are lucky as right now is a perfect time to execute it," I smirked.

"Right time? What are you planning?" Drishti asked curiously.

"Well in ten minutes Veena Aunty would go to work in Alisha's house. You need to clash with her before that. So let's hurry before we miss her. I will explain the plan on the way," I spoke in a urgent manner.

Understanding the severity of the situation, Drishti immediately took off running.

I explained everything as she ran and fortunately we reached before Veena Aunty.

"Are you sure that she will believe this story? I don't think anything like this have ever happened to anyone's mobile," Drishti spoke, looking unsure about the plan.

"Who cares if something like this actually happens or not? Veena Aunty doesn't know about the workings of mobile networks. She would believe you," I started with surety but now doubts started creeping my mind too, "Hopefully," I added at last.

"Yeah, hopefully. Are you sure that Alisha would be alone in her house? This plan won't exactly work if someone is there with her."

Wow! She didn't have any trust in my plan.

"I am visiting Alisha's place at every possible free time I get. Everybody is out at this time. Don't worry. Veena Aunty is coming. You know what you have to do, right?"

She nodded and walked towards Veena Aunty, making a show of having all her attention towards her bracelet which sparkled too brightly due to the sun.

This sparkling bracelet was enough to grab anybody's attention.

"Drishti. Drishti, Hii," Veena Aunty called out.

Drishti looked up hearing her voice and acted like she just noticed her.

"Oh! Hello Aunty. Sorry I didn't see you. My whole attention was on this bracelet. Don't know what I thinking before wearing such an expensive bracelet on the road, now I can't seem to walk without checking if it's still there and not fallen," Drishti spoke, trying to look tensed.

Veena Aunty took the bait as we expected. She looked worried for Drishti.

"You shouldn't wear it on the roads when you are alone. You know the crime rate has gone up. What would you do? You don't even have a bag and pockets are more dangerous as these thieves easily steal by cutting pockets," Veena Aunty muttered looking for solutions.

"It's okay Aunty. Don't worry, I am going to home directly. I will take care of this. I have to because if something happens to this bracelet, either I would get a heart attack or my parents would kill me," Drishti sounded like she was assuring my maid but actually she was scaring her more.

"Ok dear, go safely. If it's not personal, May I ask what were you doing here? This area is not close to your college or home," Veena Aunty enquired.

I knew she wouldn't resist the urge to ask, the gossiper inside her won't let Drishti leave before getting all the information.

"At this corner, there is a branch of mobile network company. I went to scold them. I have been receiving scoldings from almost everyone because of them. My cellphone is not accepting calls from any number that starts with 9. Here, my phone doesn't ring but the caller thinks I am avoiding them," Drishti dramatically explained her problem, looking like she was fed up.

Veena Aunty looked both shocked and interested about this.

While Veena Aunty was engrossed in this fake story we created, Drishti stealthily put her bracelet along with the small water balloon in Veena Aunty's bag, which she was carrying in her hand.

It was easily possible as that bag didn't have any zip and they both were standing close to each other.

We had set the bait, let's see if she takes it.
