18- 👻Editing the list👻

The page turned back to the original one again as breeze kept passing through.

"Firstly, shut your window. I cannot hold the diary and this wind is not allowing me to read the page and then tell me what is this list for?" I muttered in annoyance.

The simple act of being able to hold something felt like a blessing now. For all these years, I didn't even realize the value of these small things and took it for granted. Argh! Right now, I can do anything if in return I get to touch and hold things.

Drishti did as I asked and opened the page for me.

There were a list of questions in them.

From where did the truck driver come into picture?

Is he lying to save himself? Or is he speaking the truth?

Is he involved in murder? If yes, then how? Seeing that he is a stranger to us.

How did Maira reach the highway when she actually went to Ice cream parlour?

If she went there by herself, then it would explain the stumbling that truck driver told the police. But why can't she remember going there?

"Wow! When did you made this list? And did you get any answers? Why didn't we add truck driver to the list of suspects?" I fired one question after the other, unable to control my curiosity.

Drishti rolled her eyes at my actions.

"Calm down. I will tell you everything. Okay, what was the first question? Oh yeah, when did I made this, right? I made this when you were spying on your maid.

"For the answers, unfortunately I haven't made any progess.

"Lastly, he hasn't been added to list of suspects as he is a stranger who has no way to know about your fight or a motive to kill you. Even if he was involved, it would just mean that someone hired him."

"You should open a detective agency," I stated in awe.

Shaking her head with a small smile on her face, she closed the diary.

"Ok I am done. Now it's your turn. Tell me what did you find out. What were the reactions of the competitors and their coach?" Drishti asked eagerly.

"Well, let's start with our major suspect - Alisha.

"Congratulations. I can't believe we won," Alisha's coach rejoiced.

"You only won because Miara was dead," Sara commented as she passed through them.

"Yet, you didn't even score a rank. The newbie Drishti was able to get a second rank even after the short notice yet someone who was practicing for months couldn't win," Alisha sneered.

Huffing Sara left, not bothering to answer.

"Dammit. I knew this would happen. Aargh!" she threw her bag which was resting on her shoulders, to the floor in frustration.

"Thinking about it, I wasted my time following Maira to know everything about her," Alisha's coach sighed.

"Who asked you to? By the way until when did you follow her?" Alisha asked with curiosity.

"She was following the same routine every day, so I stopped after a week of following her i.e a month ago," Coach answered with a shrug.

Alisha's coach is out of the suspect list".

"What if she just said that so now one would suspect her?" Drishti asked suspiciously.

"Nope. Sara had already left and there was no one nearby when she was speaking," I replied.

"Ok Alright. What about the others?" Drishti asked nodding.

"Sara got scolded by both her parents and her coach.

"You just wasted everyone's time and money. Your parents paid extra fees and I did overtime so that you could win. Even after having extra practice, how could you not win?" Sara's coach yelled, running hands through her hair in frustration.

"Tell me about it. We lost our sleep so we could stay and cheer you every night. Every night you practiced till 1'o clock yet this outcome....," her father shouted, barely trying to control his anger.

Sara and her coach are out of the list too."

"Man, thank god you had the mind to check their reactions or we would have never got so much information in one day. What about Mrunal and Ruhi?" Drishti praised and asked me for further information with excitement.

"Gosh, I am tired of speaking but you are lucky that being a ghost, my mouth and throat doesn't hurt.

When Sara was getting scolded, Mrunal was the one who was yelling at her parents.

"I lost this competition all because of you. How many times did I plead to let me practice and not take me to that blasted wedding? I lost such a precious thing for someone's marriage.

"A whole week got wasted. Two days of travelling and a four day wedding. Why someone has to have so many functions? Even if they had, why did you made me attend all of them?

"I could have used this time for practice but no, I attended the wedding and came back yesterday only to waste my time with these organizers. If only I got the required practice, I would have WON," She yelled, angry tears running down from her eyes.

"It was just a week. You could have done the required practice before that. It's not our fault," her mother said narrowing her eyes.

So Mrunal is out of picture too. Though I would have to lookout for her coach.

As for Ruhi, she was crying while her coach was consoling her.

"Third Place. Third place, seriously. The clumsy girl got second place and I? Dammit!" Ruhi cried.

"It's okay Ruhi. You had food poisoning three days ago. Heck, you even vomitted every few hours on that night. Weakness would have been still there even if you think you are doing okay. You still won a third place and that's a great achievement given your health condition," her coach patted her shoulder to comfort her.

"I still feel bad but regardless of that thank you so much for taking care of me. My parents were enjoying their trip while you were caring for their sick daughter. You know, I like very few people and you are one of them," Ruhi said looking utterly grateful.

Hence, Ruhi and her coach are out of the suspect list too."

"Sooo now, we still have Alisha and Mrunal's coach in our list, am I right?" Drishti asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yup," I answered with closed eyes.

"I will make the changes, later. For now, let's go down and celebrate," Drishti excitedly stood up and motioned me to join her.

I smiled even when my heart was hurting. Neither did I get to participate nor I was going to be an actual part of my bestie's celebration.
