15- 👻Closure👻
Aman started sobbing profusely, without caring about the looks, everyone gave him.
He covered his face with one hand while his other hand held the letter.
"Are...are you okay?" Drishti asked gently, feeling out of place.
Slowly uncovering his face, he wiped his eyes and looked at Drishti with teary eyes.
"Thank you Drishti. Thank you so much for giving me this letter. I was drowning in guilt. It feels so good to know that Maira didn't hate me. She forgave me even if she was hurt by my actions. So much weight has been lifted off my shoulders by just knowing that Maira didn't die thinking that I didn't care for her.
"Thank you so so much Drishti. I really needed this closure. I still feel guilty for the words I spoke to her but this piece of paper was enough to bring some calmness."
"I am glad to know that this helped," Drishti spoke awkwardly.
Aman was getting emotional and Drishti never knew how to handle this type of situation.
Having understood her plight, Aman smiled softly.
"Alright then. I will go find my seat while you get ready for your power pack performance. All the best."
Drishti smiled gratefully and left after thanking him.
Giving a last longing look to Aman, I too followed Drishti.
"Where were you? Look at time. I was getting worried here. Your parents are already here. Go and meet them and come back in five mintes. I am going to give you hell, if you come a second late," coach bursted out, not out of anger but a deep worry.
"Sorry. I will go and come quickly. You won't even realize that I was gone," Drishti yelled as she had already started running towards her parents.
Shaking her head, coach muttered, "What to do with this girl?"
"You can't do anything, she isn't capable of changing," I replied but Alas! The coach didn't hear me.
I moved towards where Drishti was, only to get shocked out of mind.
Along with her parents, my parents came too. I closed my eyes, having mixed feelings.
This was a dream come true. This was something, I desperately hoped to happen. All these years of wait and they finally came, when I was no more in this world.
Drishti talked with both set of parents while I stood back silently.
"Thank you for calling us here. We never liked Maira dancing but look at us, this very thing is making us feel closer to our daughter. We can feel her presence in this place," Mom said, making my eyes wide.
Did she really feel my presence? Was Drishti not the only person who could see me?
"Drishti, please do your best. We want to see our daughter in you. I feel so guilty for not being there for her, for always scolding her. Please please let us enjoy Maira's passion through you," Dad pleaded with joined hands, trying hard to not cry but his voice gave it away.
I got my hopes for nothing. They couldn't actually feel it. They were just being emotional. Still, it felt good to know that they came here for me.
"Tell them that I still loved them, regardless of our fights. Tell them that they shouldn't feel guilty because Maira knew that all the problems stemmed because of generation gap and she would be thoroughly happy that they understood her passion atleast now," I spoke sincerely.
Drishti jumped from my sudden interference but got stable quickly, having got used to my way of coming without announcement.
She relayed the words, exactly as I had told her.
Mom bursted out crying and took Drishti in a tight hug.
"How...how did you know? How are you so sure that Maira would have thought like this?" Mom asked and dad nodded having the same question in my mind.
Drishti stealthily stole a glance at me. She looked unsure and nervous, not knowing how to answer.
"Say that it was my dream for them to come in one of performances. Tell them that we spoke for hours about it. About how I would instantly reconcile with them and forget about our fights, if they ever chose to side with me instead of the low minded society," I answered.
"But we never talked about this," Drishti whispered to me.
"Huh? Dear did you say something?" her mom asked.
"Idiot. Stop talking to me and answer my parents question," I scolded her.
Coughing a little, Drishti shook her head in no, wordlessly answering her mother and then turned towards mine.
Hearing everything from Drishti, my father's strong walls broke and he too cried.
Mom whimpered, holding a hand to her mouth. Drishti's parents side hugged them to give some support, while Drishti stood there giving them 'everything will be okay' smile.
Today not only Aman but my parents too got the closure they needed to move on.
"And our next performer is Miss. Drishti from Saviour College."
The announcement rang through the speakers.
Hearing the announcement, our parents came out of their hug. Wishing her luck, they went back to the audience area to see her performance.
"You can do it, bestie," I spoke with full conviction and pride.
Taking a deep breathe, she went and moved towards the stage, not before touching coach's feet for blessings.
