Scene 1: Secret Affair

[Cast: Sam, Sally, Luke, and Nina]

[Setting: Park, Sam and Luke are talking until they see Sam’s girlfriend Sally…]

[Character Description: Sam is a nineteen year old guy who is in a relationship with Sally, and is best friends with Luke.

Sally is a nineteen year old girl who is in a relationship with Sam, but ends up falling in love with his best friend Luke and ends up cheating on her boyfriend Sam. She is also best friends with Nina.

Luke is a nineteen year old guy who is Sam’s best friend and respects him. However, once he ends up dating Sally secretly, his loyalty to Sam starts slipping.

Nina is a eighteen year old girl who works in Starbucks as a barista who is also best friends with Sally. She tries to convince her not to risk her relationship with Sam, but fails.]

Luke: (gently elbows Sam) Hey bro look it’s your girlfriend, Sally.

Sally: (smiles warmly) Hey Luke. (walks to Sam and kisses his cheek) Hey babe.

Sam: (stutters) H-Hey b-babe.

Luke: (gently elbows him again) Dude, you need to stop stuttering! Man up already.

Sam: I know, I know.

Sally: (giggles) I’ll see you later babe. (smiles at Sam before winking at Luke and walks away)

Luke: (sighs) You’re so lucky to have a loving girlfriend like her.

Sam: (smiles encouraging at him) You’ll find your loved one someday.

Luke: I guess.

~~~~~Scene shifts over to a beauty            salon~~~~

Sally: (squeals) Nina, Luke was so cute!

Nina: (rolls eyes) But, you have a boyfriend, Sally. Remember? It's a three-lettered word. Say it with me, girl. (Nina stares at Sally as she makes Sally spell out Sam's name).

Sally: I know that Nina. All I need to do is date Luke while keeping Sam from getting suspicious.

Nina: I don’t think you should do that Sally. (Stares at Sally disapprovingly)

Sally: (laughs harshly) Oh really, and why is that?

Nina: You’ll end up getting caught. (Nina states this in a matter-of-factly tone).

Sally: Well then, I’m willing to take that risk.

Nina: You’re willing to break up with your boyfriend that you been dating for two years now for his best friend?

Sally: Yup!

Nina: Okay… (Not wanting to be part of this, Nina looks at her watch and gets up, quickly coming up with a excuse) Well, I have to go. Bye Sally! (runs offstage)

~~~~~~~~With Sam and Luke~~~~~~~

Sam: Our third anniversary is coming up.

Luke: Nice! What do you plan on getting her?

Sam: Only the best.

Luke: (confused) As in… What?

Sam: Flowers, chocolates and an engagement ring.

Luke: You’re going to marry her?

Sam: (laughs) No, it’s going to symbolize our third year together.

Luke: Cool. (phone vibrates) Give me one minute…

Sam: Okay.

Luke: (takes out his phone to see a text message from XXX-XXX-XXXX) Hey Sam, what’s your girlfriend phone number?

Sam: (looks at him) Why?

Luke: (shrugs) Just because.

Sam: Fine, it’s XXX-XXX-XXXX. Though, you can't really be serious, right Luke?

Luke: (looks at the phone number and realized that Sam’s girlfriend texted him. He then reads the text message to himself before he mumbles) Meet me at my house at seven. (looks at the clock and sees that it’s a quarter to seven) I have to go.

Sam: Where to? (Sam stares at Luke in a curious matter.)

Luke: Um… back to my house! Yeah, I’m really, really, tired. (Luke lies as he begins to awkwardly laugh.)

Sam: But it’s only six-- (Sam gets cut off by Luke who starts to stand up.)

Luke: (fakes a yawn and heads to the door) I’ll see you later Sam! (leaves)

Sam: (to himself) Okay, that was weird. (closes the door)

                    °At Sally’s house°

Luke: (Upon arriving at Sally's house, Luke knocks before searching his surroundings. His hairs are prickled as he senses something is wrong. Yet, he can't figure out what it is.) Hello?

Sally: (looks through the door hole and sees Luke) Oh, it's just you. (Sally grins before opening the door. She looks around twice before ushering Luke in) Come in.

Luke: (walks in) So, any reason why I had to show up at seven? (Luke then leans on the couch before eyeing Sally).

Sally: (closes the door) I… (takes a deep breath) I’m done with Sam. I want you to be my boyfriend instead.

Luke: (gasps) I'm sorry Sally, but I can't. I was able to handle this ruse but that's it.

Sally: Why not?

Luke: I can't date you because you’re my best friend girlfriend! Plus it would break Sam’s heart. Sally, I can't believe I'm saying this but you went too far this time.

Sally: I don’t care! I love you! Now, kiss me!

Luke: No! (runs to the door and puts his hand on the knob; Luke whispers to the door trying to unlock the door but upon hearing jingles, Luke looks up.)

Sally: (smirks as she swings the keys around her fingers) If you don’t kiss me, then I’ll end up blackmailing you. Plus, I have the keys to unlock the door. Not you. (Sally takes this moment to grin which sickens Luke.)

Luke: (groans before taking his hand off the knob) Fine. (Knowing he won't win, Luke reluctantly obeys Sally's orders as he slumped along the way.)

(The two then kiss on the lips as Luke takes a quick chance to pull away.)

Luke: (spits out and making various disgusted sounds) That was wrong--

Sally: Yet it felt so right. (Sally then stares at Luke in a loving way as Luke finally realized he had just sold his soul to the Devil.)

            {Scene 2: Heartache 101}

[Sally and Luke have been secretly dating for four months as Sam and Sally’s third anniversary comes closer…

Setting: Sam’s house]

Sam: Hey Luke, are you alright? (Lightly nudges his best friend as he knows nothing about the affair Luke is having)

Luke: (Luke who is at this point full of guilt and regret stares at Sam before faking a smile. Luke decides to 'play it cool'.) Yeah, why?

Sam: You seem anxious these last couple of days.

Luke: (laughs nervously and changes the subject realizing the 'play it cool' act was slipping) So, your third anniversary is in three days!

Sam: I know! Time does fly!

Luke: How do you feel?

Sam: I feel anxious and excited at the same time. I hope she likes the ring. (shows Luke the bronze ring carved) I know it's not much but--

Luke: (gasps) She’ll love it.

Sam: (puts the ring away) Really?

Luke: (nods) Yes really.

Sam: (smiles) Thanks for being my best friend. (looks at the clock) Well, I have to go. Bye Luke! (leaves)

Luke: (chuckles nervously) Yeah… (alone on stage, Luke stands up as he begins to do his monologue)

I can't believe Sally turned me into this. I used to be loyal and follow only the 'Bro Code'. (Huffing, Luke sits center-stage as the audience can sense Luke's frustrations) Now, what is Sam to expect? Oh man... When Sam finds out, our friendship will be over.

(Luke then stands up before running towards the right wing disappearing from the audience)

                ~~Three days later~~

Sam: (holding flowers, a box of chocolates and the ring as he knocked on Sally’s door) Hey Sally, are you there?

(No one answers as he knocks again. This time, Sam is generally concerned as Sally usually opens the door upon his knock.)

Sam: Sally! (Sam then sees the door is slightly open as Sam allows himself in to see Sally kissing Luke. He gasps upon seeing this, startling Sally and Luke altogether.)

Sally and Luke: (pulls apart and looks at Sam. Neither one anticipated Sam's arrival) Sam, this isn’t what it looks like.

Sam: (drops the flowers, chocolates and the ring. Sam first turns to Luke, who stares at the ground.) Luke, you were dating my girlfriend behind my back?

Luke: (slowly nods) I’m sorry Sam. Let me explain though! You see....

Sam: (ignores him and looks at Sally) How long have you two been dating?

Sally: Four months.

Sam: Sally, we're through and Luke our friendship is over. (leaves with teary eyes as he walks off stage)

                 ·Scene 3: The End·

Sam: (to himself) I can’t believe she had to cheat on me! I gave her everything that she wanted, I supported her and yet she repays my loyalty by leaving me heartbroken. Not only that, but my best friend was on the plan as well and betrayed my trust. (wipes a tear from his cheek as he walks off stage)

~~~~~~~With Sally and Nina; Setting Starbucks~~~~~~~~

Nina: Next!

(Line moves and Sally is face to face with Nina)

Sally: Hey…

Nina: (looks up to see Sally’s sad expression) Sally, you did it, didn’t you?

Sally: (nods as tears fall from her cheek) I-I have to go. (runs off stage)

Nina: (shakes head) (mumbles) I told her not to do it. (yells) Next!

(Line ends as Sam walks in)

Sam: (walks to the register and sighs) (in a dread voice) I’ll take a Black Coffee.

Nina: (looks up to see Sam) Okay, will that be all?

Sam: (nods)

Nina: Alright then, your order will be ready in five minutes.

(Sam then goes to seat down at a table)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Five minutes later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Nina: Here you go, Sam. (hands him a cup of hot chocolate instead of his Black Coffee)

Sam: I asked for Black Coffee, not hot chocolate. What am I? Five?

Nina: Black Coffee doesn’t seem like your type though.

Sam: (deadpans) I just got my heart broken, does it look like I care?

Nina: Well, it’s on the house. Take it easy, Sam. (leaves)

Sam: (mumbles) Whatever you say, Nina. (takes a sip of his hot chocolate as the scene ends)
