Everything I Wanted (poem)
All I wanted
Was to be wanted
Instead I was flaunted
Like brand new jewelry
A shiny piece of metal
Ready to be scratched and used
All you did was use
Until I was no longer pretty
Enough for you
All I wanted
Was to be enough for you
Yet I never could be, could I?
Because everytime I raised the expectation
You'd come up with some new innovation
In how I had to improve, could be used
I was your creation
But no longer, I'm picking myself off the floor
All I wanted was to be yours
But now I'm mine
I'll redesign until I'm a shining piece of gold
I can't be sold for your pleasure
I'm not waiting for you to respond
Caught on your line and sinker
I'll make you drown if you come nearer
I was hung up on your worn love
But you hung me out to dry
The moment I needed a shoulder
To cry on
All I wanted
Was to be wanted
But you never really wanted me
Did you?
