Future
Stephan is calm, like a boy who is having a pleasant conversation at the bar with an old friend, Principal Coleman is the opposite, tense as a violin string, incredulous at what his ears have heard.
"Are you talking about time travel?"
The entire Principal's team got goosebumps, everyone was listening and everyone had already understood where Stephan was going with this, but hearing it clearly coming out of the principal's lips made it all too real.
Stephan smirks in amusement. He looks back to his right at a somewhat deformed Hyde, who smirks back at him, then looks down at his feet and chuckles louder this time before looking back at Coleman.
"Exactly, I come from 30 years in the future, a future dominated by the tyrannical dictatorship of Wednesday Addams, or rather, Goody Addams who is currently nesting in the mind of her descendant. I am here to kill her, or rather, I ended up here by mistake, my intention is to go back even further to kill the real Goody, prevent the rise of the Addams and-"
An explosion interrupts Stephan's monologue. The main entrance is completely gone, splinters of the wooden door fly everywhere, but the largest ones suddenly glow with a black-purple light and change direction in mid-air starting to transform the three Hydes present into pincushions. The largest, however, manages to grab the two smaller ones on his sides and use them as a shield, suffering only light injuries.
Stephan and the principal stand up, the man pulls the gun from his anklet, runs to the top of the stairs and takes cover behind the column with Simmons. Stephan watches his bigger Hyde drop the bodies of two of his peers on the ground while he roars furiously towards the cloud of dust covering the main hall. A flash of purple is all it takes for Stephan to lose all his confidence and bravado, his heart beating faster and faster until the sound of its heartbeat drowns out all other noises.
As the enormous Hyde collapses to the ground with his skull pierced, Goody Addams makes her entrance.
"So who pray controls these hideous creatures?"
*** *** ***
Wednesday slowly advances toward the adult Enid and hands her a black robe. The woman is still stunned by what had happened, she grabs the robe almost fearfully and slowly puts it on.
"Well, now that this place is more comfortable, what should we do?"
The wolf girl looks around for a moment then begins to sniff, goes around the entire hall looking into the rooms, noting that everything has been recreated to perfection, even the smells, which she had learned by heart that summer, are the same.
"I have to say my beloved-"
Wednesday was one step away from her with a sharp rapier in her hand pointed at her throat. The little gothic face is impassive but hwe eyes exude rage and murderous instinct.
"Only Enid can call me that, you may be a part of her, but you are not her"
The woman gently places the back of her hand on the flat of the blade and gently moves it away from her neck. Wednesday knows that this is a gesture of silent assent and an answer to the question of whether the wolf spirit could actually be harmed and killed on this astral plane.
"I was saying.... Wednesday..... That you completely destroyed the prison that Goody created, as hastily and roughly created as it was, it was not an easy thing to tear down, but there is no trace of it left, Goody has vastly underestimated you. Now I think it is your time to return my help"
Wednesday turns up her nose, actually the news brought by the wolf spirit helped her find the strength to break out of Goody's prison, but it's not like she did anything else, she probably would have gotten there on her own.
"But then it might have been too late for your beloved Enid. Now please put your ego aside and come with me to Enid's astral plane, we must free her from the kiss of death."
Wednesday doesn't even give the wolf a nod, she heads towards the huge doors of the entrance of Addams Manor, which swing open at the mere sound of her footsteps. A cold, biting breeze hits her in the face and makes her half-close her eyes, the young Addams feels it, Goody is furious because it's running away from under her nose, Wednesday wonders what led her to underestimate her so much to act so hastily and roughly, but now it doesn't matter.
Out of nowhere Wednesday conjures a bell that she doesn't wait to ring. Enid smiles compassionately at the girl's great confidence in her powers.
"Are you really calling your butler on an astral plane, Wednesday there is a limit to what you can-"
"Called?"
The woman jumped in fright when the enormous butler appeared behind her. She hadn't heard him arrive or sensed his presence in any way but there he was, in all his grandeur, completely ignoring her and only having eyes for his little mistress.
"How come? I can feel it, it is an entity in its own right, it is not a creation of the astral plane..... How is it possible that it detached itself from its physical body to reach you and from such a distance?!"
Wednesday grins as Lurch passes her to go get the car. She remembered when her father gave her that bell when she was 5, it was small, made of a very rough metal and the handle was made of a wood that seemed very old, but what characterized it were the symbols engraved inside the bell, they were of three completely different types and civilizations, there was a row of Nordic runes, one of Egyptian hieroglyphics and one of symbols that she remembered were probably Mayan. She never stopped to study it that much and was tempted to use it on more than one occasion, even against Crackstone and Gates, but every time her father's words echoed in her head, who recommended that he use it only in case of extreme emergency, only when his existence was in danger of disappearing completely from reality. At the time he had not given weight to his father's words, but every time he touched the bell it seemed as if his father was there whispering those words in his ear. This time the opposite happened, she heard her father's words echoing in her mind without her even thinking of using the bell, it took her much more concentration than she let on to materialize it but now that she was watching the object crumble between her fingers, she understood why her father didn't want her to waste it.
"We Addams have more resources than you think, if we didn't have a butler who could reach us anywhere and at any time, we couldn't call ourselves Addams"
Wednesday's smile, full of pride and also mockery, irritates the wolf girl. At that moment the car arrives below them and the girls take their places in the back seats.
"To Enid's astral plane, thank you Lurch"
The butler nods his head in agreement with a grunt and sets off confidently towards his destination. The wolf spirit is anxious, his agitation increases as they cross the Addams estate and his amazement increases with every meter traveled thinking about how powerful Wednesday must be to have created such an immense astral plane when until a few hours before he didn't even know what it was.
Wednesday only takes her eyes off the wolf spirit when Lurch leaves the paved driveway to take a dirt road, she knows where it leads, an old stone arch that stands alone in the middle of the forest, it takes about ten minutes to reach it and by the time they cross it, they find themselves immersed in total darkness, the car lashed by a violent storm, thunder can be heard continuously but no lightning or thunderbolts, the car's headlights illuminate absolute nothingness but Lurch continues confidently on his way until a flash of light doesn't dazzle the girls and when they open their eyes, the two realize they are in Enid's family's house, but there is something strange, everything is dead. Not a blade of grass or a branch of a tree that is not rotten, the only noise making are the insects feasting on the rotten fruit of the garden at the back of the house.
Wednesday remembers that house well, but now it is unrecognizable, the paint is almost completely peeling from the wooden planks, part of the roof has caved in and collapsed on what the girl remembers as the kitchen.
"It wasn't like this when I left.....Enid.... The human part of Enid was simply asleep in a deep sleep. The grass was green and lush, as was the tree, the flowers and the garden, birds and butterflies were dancing in the sky. How could it all have degenerated so quickly?"
While the two ran inside the house. In the real world Yoko, Divina, Bianca, Xavier and Eugene hid in the nightshade's library.
"How are you?"
Divina cautiously approaches her girlfriend who is cradling her friend in the gap, the mermaid doesn't really need Yoko's answer, or to have super vampire senses to see that Enid is increasingly on the edge. Her complexion is cadaverous and her body is skin and bones, she is sure that to the touch she is cold as ice and if it weren't for her chest that is rising at frighteningly long intervals, she would certainly give her up for dead.
"I don't know how she manages to be alive"
Yoko is a waterfall of tears, the sunglasses have long since left her face, revealing to everyone her eyes with blood red irises.
"Love, you have to feed yourself, it's been too long since you drank, you can't control your eyes anymore"
The glare Yoko gives her scares her; only once in her life has she seen her give such a look, to a homophobic member of her vampire clan who openly despised their relationship.
"I don't know if you noticed but I haven't had time to pack my bags and I don't have any blood bags with me!"
The vampire growls her words showing her fangs but the mermaid smiles sweetly at her as she gets closer and when she is close enough she rolls up her sleeve.
"I know"
The anger on Yoko's face completely disappears, giving way to disbelief. The others couldn't help but follow the speech, and now the shock on their faces says it all. At Nevermore, drinking blood from another human or outcast is strictly forbidden, not only because the vampire enters a state of excitement that if not able to control could lead to carnage, but also because those who bite the vampire's teeth are injected with a pleasure toxin that is highly addictive and habit-forming.
"No, I could kill you all and you'd become a bite addict! Absolutely not!"
Bianca takes quick steps forward, grabs Divine by the arm and yanks her away from Yoko.
"Yoko is right, are you crazy?!?"
Divina frees herself from her friend's grip and takes a few steps away.
"And what do you plan to do? Stand here and watch Enid die? If Yoko drinks blood, she'll be strong enough and fast enough to go get help, but not strong enough to resist the siren song!"
Everyone is looking at her curiously now, vampires are not immune to the siren song, but no one has ever managed to repress a vampire in the grip of bloodlust except with brute force.
"If Yoko drinks just a few drops and Bianca charms her not to hurt anyone and seek help and charms me not to remember the effect of the bite, everything should be fine"
Even Xavier and Eugene have become closer now."
"Divina is madness, it has never been done before and it is almost certainly a suicide plan"
"Xavier is right, we should just wait for what Professor Silivieri did to take effect"
Divina becomes even more agitated and turns a pleading look to her two friends.
But before anyone else can intervene, a loud sigh from Enid grabs everyone's attention.
