Epilogue

A faint warmth throughout her body, that's all Enid feels. When she tries to open her eyes, a white light blinds her, she closes them but an annoying whistle makes its way into her eardrums and her temples begin to throb. She tries to put her hands to her temples, but as soon as she moves them, pangs of pain spread throughout her body and the fatigue makes her body feel as heavy as a boulder.

A muffled voice begins to stand out from the ringing in her ears, she doesn't understand the words or the tone, but she recognizes the sensation it makes her feel, that heat in her chest, the shiver down her spine and when the person at her bedside takes Enid's hand in her, that warmth spreads throughout her body, sweeping away the pain, the fatigue, the headache and the ringing in her ears.

"Enid, calm down, don't strain yourself"

Finally the girl manages to open her eyes and Wednesday is the first thing she sees, a magnificent vision with her hair loose, with the classic waves that the braids leave after taking them off, the smile that paints itself on her face when their gazes meet is a rare vision, even for Enid and the wolf girl wants to taste it, in the true sense of the word. With a start that surprises Wednesday, Enid sits up, grabs the other girl by the shoulder and leaves her a long and needy kiss. There is no lust, it is a simple kiss on the lips that however stops time for both girls, who only half-close their eyes to continue looking at each other and getting lost in their mutual feelings. Enid's hand moves from her shoulder to Wednesday's cheek, who immediately imitates her, the kiss intensifies, the two bite and suck each other's lips and only when it starts to go a little too far for the audience present does someone clear their throat several times to make the girls stop before the thing goes beyond the already present collective embarrassment.

When they separate, Wednesday immediately turns her back on the other people present, glares at them and makes it abundantly clear that they should have left the exact moment their lips met.

"Enid we are happy that you finally woke up"

Simmons was the only one to step up to save everyone from the tension created by Wednesday's glances of fire.

Realizing what just happened, Enid turns red as a pepper and starts looking around frantically, completely embarrassed. This gesture brings a heartfelt laugh to everyone and makes the tension disappear.

"You have been unconscious for three days, during which the doctors have fed you with an IV, so you will be without much energy and you would do well not to indulge in too many energetic gestures..."

Simmons rolls her eyes at the last sentence and everyone chuckles.

"That's right my wolf, now when these hateful white coats have finished their useless tests and have given me permission, I will take you home where I will subject you to some truly useful treatments"

Everyone rolls their eyes, the doctors had given a diagnosis of chronic fatigue, so nothing really in need of medical attention, just lots and lots of rest.

"Damn Sinclair you scared us all when you woke up from your death sleep with your eyes lit up like Christmas lights"

Bianca along with Divina and Yoko approach Enid's bed and sit on it, ignoring Wednesday's obvious dirty looks.

"Already darling, who thought that from that sleep Enid would not wake up, but a little angry gothic in the body of a magic hand wolf"

Enid has flashes, remembering more or less everything that happened after Wednesday woke her up from the kiss of death and how she left her control of her body to face Goody.

"I used magic.... I USED SOME FUCKING COOL MAGIC!"

Enid starts jumping around, making everyone laugh.

"Technically my love, I used magic through your body, it's true that without your predisposition I wouldn't have been able to do it, but it will take you many years of training before you can reach that level"

Enid looks at Wednesday seriously for a few seconds, before moving her gaze to Yoko.

"I CAN USE MAGIC!"

She starts jumping on the bed all happy with everyone laughing, even Wednesday.

*** *** ***

The doctors won't let Wednesday take Enid back to Addams Manor for another day, so the two are finally stepping through the castle gates again.

"So Nevermore will be closed forever...."

Enid is snuggled up to Wednesday, her head resting on his shoulder. Morticia and Gomez are sitting across from them in the limo, looking at them tenderly.

"Yes, the competent authorities decided that it was too dangerous to keep all those outcasts gathered in one place, given the high risk of racial attacks. After the deaths of all those students.... There wasn't doubt."

Morticia has always seen the good in death, but not in this moment, 41 lives, 41 young lives extinguished in Nevermore for the delirium of a boy. She understood where he came from and why he believed that all this was necessary, but she does not want to accept that young lives were extinguished in such a futile way and without a real reason.

"So for your happiness in a few months you will go back to school in a high school for normal people"

Enid is excited about the idea, her parents never let her attend a normal institution, not even the scouts, she has always and only gone to institutions run and attended by werewolves only, the Nevermore was the first exception and only because its prestige as a school for outcasts surpassed any ideology of racial superiority.

"Hopefully with Enid by your side, there won't be the same problems there have been in the past. Right, my little storm cloud?"

Wednesday, who until then had been staring out the window, thinking that even though time travel was out of her taste, maybe there would be something wrong with her novels, or maybe a whole new saga. Her father's call brought her back inside the spacious cabin of the family limousine/hearse.

"Of course, father. After all, I will only be an outcast, a witch and a lesbian in a school of ignorant bigots."

Her parents' worried faces were priceless to her.

"What could possibly go wrong for me?"

Enid lifts her head from Wednesday's shoulder and slaps her playfully.

"Shut up Willa, I won't let you kill, maim or seriously injure anyone"

But even the creative limitations of their little girl seemed unappealing to the Addams.

"But I also can't stand bigotry and as long as you don't do anything too fatal, I won't stop you."

Finally Morticia and Gomez relax and smile at their future daughter-in-law, Wednesday also gives a delicate but affectionate smile to Enid, who in response goes back to snuggle up to her side.

The rest of the trip passes peacefully, with Wednesday drifting away from reality, but without her continuing to caress Enid, who enjoys the cuddles and romantic karaoke of Morticia and Gomez.

Once they arrive at the manor, Wednesday leaves all the unloading work to Lurch for the first time and drags Enid inside the house.

"Manor, open a passage to your dungeons, we have information on you"

Immediately a staircase opens up in the floor and very calmly, Wednesday and Enid descend it arm in arm.

"Wednesday look!"

Enid was looking at the first painting on the stairs, the paintings of the last members of the Addams family were gone, they had slipped further down. In their place there is a painting larger than the others, carved in obsidian like all those belonging to the Addams bloodline, which represents both Wednesday and Enid.

Wednesday is standing next to a seated Enid, on a blue stool. The young Addams's right arm is delicately wrapped around Enid and her hand is delicately placed on her hip, while her left hand is resting on the same shoulder as the wolf, but between her fingers she gently squeezes the fingers of Enid's left hand. She smiles toward those looking at the painting, Wednesday smiles too, but that smile is directed at Enid.

"A magnificent painting, I have never had a painting that represented me so well"

Wednesday doesn't even crack a smile despite her words of appreciation. Enid instead took out her cell phone and took a photo.

When the two finally reach the bottom of the stairs and arrive in the underground room they find a surprise, or at least for Enid it is a surprise, Wednesday had already understood it.

"I see that the spell that imprisoned your memories has dissolved"

Jacob Addams smiles at him painted in the large painting.

"Yes, I had it set to melt the moment I defeated Goody."

"Because you had already lived it. You knew what was going to happen and that's why you sealed your memories."

Enid approaches the painting still in disbelief.

"I don't understand! Why did our son from the future take Manor's place!?"

Jacob laughs amusedly.

"I didn't take his place, it was always me, I just didn't remember it"

Enid is now confused and her gaze repeatedly switches between Jacob and Wednesday.

"I do not understand"

"You can't really travel through time"

Jacob nods knowing where his mother is going with this. A trail of white light appears from the ground and begins to draw a line in the air, painting curves and spirals even intersecting at some points.

"The timeline is not straight, it is free and fluid and in its infinite bending and turning it can happen that it intersects with itself. However, this does not happen by chance, it is nature that makes it happen, to restore the balance. Goody has altered the balance and this was Mother Nature's way of solving things, it is not the first time it has happened. Perhaps it is the first time that a man has opened a portal, but in the future we have research that in the past other creatures have crossed natural gaps and traveled through time. Think of the Egyptian Gods, the Mayan ones, the sightings of monsters and strange figures. In all those cases there is always at least one victim. Our research suggests that it was divine providence that maintained the balance"

On Wednesday, she hadn't gotten that far in her reasoning.

"You're saying we have free will...."

"...but we can't abuse it"

Enid completes Wednesday's sentence, also understanding the gist of the speech.

"Especially us time travelers. Stephan, or rather, Crackstone, yes I discovered that they are the same person, he had gone back much further than I thought, when I found our family, Goody's mother was just 12 years old. So I thought I could stop Goody from becoming what she became anyway, I died putting myself between her and Stephan. It was my death that made her unleash and go crazy"

The shadow on Jacob's face suggests that he truly cared about Goody, after all, he had seen her being born.

"Wait, but if Stephan was Crackstone and it was your death that drove Goody crazy-"

Jacob has figured out where he wants to go according to Enid, he too has thought about it for a long time since he regained his memory.

"There was something in the timeline untainted by time travel that drove Goody mad and caused her to become the tyrant who took over the entire world."

Enid falls silent and loses her smile. She is used to always seeing the good in people, you could say that she knew Goody as a positive entity and hoped that deep down, she was still like that.

"Okay, enough with the depressing or science fiction-esque talk. Now we just have to get you out of there!"

Jacob laughs, his mother was always too optimistic, an optimism that killed her"

"Optimism kills mom, I've seen it. Then I'm happy to be here, I'm practically immortal and as long as I don't get tired I can protect all the Addams generations to come."

Now both girls smile slightly.

"Then we should get you out of here."

Jacob smiles, he couldn't wait, after all it was the spell that blocked his memories that told him to stay hidden.

"No sooner said than done"

And as if it were an elevator, the room began to rise. Suddenly, windows appeared on the walls, showing how Jacob was creating a new tower, exactly in the center of the manor.
