Enid

Fear, terror, horror, anxiety-these were the words that described Enid's state of mind at this moment.

She thought that after the transformation she would be happy, excited to spend time with her parents, but now, after school was over, after greeting her best friend with their classic non-hug and finding herself in the car with her parents. Enid was terrified of having to talk to her mother.

Obviously her parents had been informed by the doctors in the girl's first transformation, and now her mother did nothing but talk and talk and talk about how they would spend all summer preparing Enid to be a perfect urban werewolf and how they would travel all over America to search for a wolf who could be her mate for life.

Enid doesn't have the courage, doesn't really have the guts to tell her that her wolf is broken, broken from feeling the bond, practically hugging him, she doesn't remember who or what it was, the only thing she remembers from that night is the confrontation with Hyde and hugging Wednesday, nothing else. She knows her wolf made the connection, but with whom, it remains a mystery to her.

With disappointment she knows he is not Ajax, she kissed the boy when she left school but did not feel the bond forming, rather she felt a very strong revulsion for him.

Now the fear of having to disappoint her mother again, telling her that her wolf is quivering with anxiety to return to Nevermore to re-embrace and solidify the bond with her mate, terrifies her.

She is in a constant state of depression because of anxiety the first week at home, practically a zombie, staying in bed most of the day and eating little. Her father is very worried, she had never heard him talk so much, her mother, on the other hand, is disappointed again, disappointed in her, who even as a wolf still proves to be weak and totally incapable of being a viable member of the pack.

her mother came into the room on the morning of the second week, throwing open the door to her room angrily and tearing down the curtains from the window to let in the light.

"Come on Enid get up! Today we must perforce begin your training to become a perfect city wolf. We have to split your human part from your wolf part, so that we leave all the wild behaviors not exactly suitable for modern civilization to the animal part and the full moon and make you a perfect young lady."

Enid's wolf roars, literally, Enid also growls at her mother, albeit in a more restrained way, but the claws come out piercing the water mattress causing irritation and fury in the woman in front of her.

Enid and her wolf know very well that this is something they must not allow, they refuse to split apart, they refuse to split in two what is their nature, their souls are already divided, broken and destroying themselves slowly that they spend too much time away from their mate and still she cringes trying to figure out who this person is, she smells him, feels his hands on her, feels everything that she apparently does not remember ever spending with a person in Nevermore except Ajax however her body remembers him well, very well.

"Enid, don't you dare come at me, look what you've done, you're going to clean up this mess, and then I'd settle for the mattress in the garage."

In a final rush of anger her mother leaves the room and returns downstairs, where Enid still hears her complaining about her to her father, still describing her as a disappointment, a burden to the pack.

Slowly the girl got out of bed, the shaking of the covers showing open packages of snacks and empty soda bottles, all things her father had secretly passed to her after Enid refused to eat with the family.

The first thing is to throw (so to speak) all the garbage into the already overflowing trash can, then grab the now almost deflated pink mattress and throw it frustratedly out the window, loud cries from her mother ensue, of course, about how she has ruined her lawn, but she ignores them. She then heads to the closet where she gets the necessary supplies to clean up her room.

It is now well into the afternoon when Enid finishes fixing up her room, which is now so perfect that she would like to challenge her mother to find something wrong, but she knows she would make it up just to antagonize him.

Right now she is home alone, her father has gone to take her mattress to the landfill because it is considered special waste, another thing her mother has been weighing on her. A sound bothers her ears, it comes from her Nevermore jacket, still hanging on the coat rack, it's her phone, a thud to her heart, she hasn't used her phone for all of last week and once unlocked, hundreds of notifications, mostly from Yoko and Ajax, both concerned about her disappearance from social media.

"Hello Yoko?"

"My God I thank you!"

The relief in the vampire's voice is pap as well as at her concern

"I was going crazy, you disappeared Enid, from every social and Chat group, no one had heard from you since the end of school. I wanted to force my parents to take me to you."

Enid gives a weak, tired smile at the vampire's words, before switching the voice call to video call.

The vampire's reaction is immediate, a hand in front of her mouth and a terrified expression.

"Enid.... My little one...what happened to you? Who did this to you?"

Enid's smile is sad, easily letting her mind and heartbreak shine through.

"My comrade Yoko, I found him and lost him before I could even figure out who he was."

Although she has a smile left, tears are beginning to furrow her face.

"Enid.... Please tell me you have told your family, you know very well that for a wolf to remain separated from its mate is a sentence to madness and a certain and terrible death."

Enid shakes her head, as she might.

"Like Yoko? How? You know well that in recent decades it is very rare for a wolf to find her mate, my own parents are not mates, theirs was a political marriage if you can call it that. Then I'm sure it's not another wolf, in that case the bond would already be solid, I on the other hand barely feel it, I have to solidify it with the mark."

By now even the vampire is shedding tears; she knows what it means for a wolf to have her mate and not be able to be with him.

"Enid you have to tell someone I can help you, you can't go on like this, it was from the first have at Nevermore that I didn't see your natural color."

Only now does Enid notice in the small inner camera frame that her hair has almost 3 fingers of regrowth of a beautiful light brown, while the rest of her hair was decidedly darker than her usual oxygenated blond.

"It's the wolf, it's virtually impossible for werewolves to get their hair dyed, let's say that was one of the privileges of being a late wolf, now even a bleaching wouldn't last a week because of the healing factor."

"You looked good brown, surely a certain crow will like it."

Enid is well aware that the girl is trying to deflect the conversion to cheer her up, but something happens that the vampire did not expect, a genuine smile.

"Already I can hear Willa's words, you've finally decided to stop torturing me with that ridiculous blinding hair like the sun and embarrassing your person.... always if I can return Nevermore."

Immediately she is admonished by the vampire.

"Get it over with, you'll go back to school stronger than before, you'll find your partner at the cost of picking you up and dragging you to every single student's house.... Ed Nevermore teacher. Now explain something to me... Willa? Where did that come from?"

Enid's face at the mere thought that he might be a teacher makes her revile, but Yoko's words comfort her, but at the question her cheeks turn red.

"I wanted to find a nickname for her, it's the only thing that has managed to distract me during the last week."

A flea makes its way into the vampire's ear.

"From the name Wednesday is practically impossible then I simply came up with the name Willa, it doesn't have much to do with it but in my head it sounds perfect."

The mate name, it only happens when the bond is really deep, Yoko knows well, Wolves who share the bond choose each other a new name that only the other can use. Yoko heard about this legend, but apparently Enid did not. She would like to share with her naïve little She-Wolf her near certainty, but she knows it's best that she get there on her own, as much as Enid is Super ultra supportive of LGBTQ+ she has always identified herself as purely straight.

"I like Willa, I don't know when I can like Wednesday, but it suits her."

A noise from the driveway distracts the wolf girl, however; her mother and brothers have returned from the pack's meeting in the woods; she was not yet allowed to take part.

"Yoko I have to leave you, talk to you tonight."

"Don't try to disappear again or I won't come to you to help you be clear."

The call is ended and Enid prepares to face her ordeal again
