Had Tropical Storm Isias hit us
A few weeks back
3 days without anything
Like living in a cave
Power outage
Worse than the hurricanes of
8 and 9 years ago; Sandy and Irene

It gave me
An epic mind-fuck like nothing else
No WiFi was the hardest
Because watching something when
Thoughts get troublesome
Is the only lifesaver

Plus summer and no a/c
Warm water
Melted fridge and freezer
All so wrong
Feel helpless

1 million people in my state
Out of a population of a bit over 3 million
All having the same problem
But most have places to go
Or be with people
We barely have anyone

There was no estimate on when
Things would be restored
Poles fell on power lines
Trees demolished houses
Tornadoes ran rampant

The companies were ill-prepared
We needed federal aid to help this mess
Meanwhile, I tried to not let it get to me too much
Yet failed miserably, it was hard

I prayed for the power to return,
When it finally did, I collapsed to the floor
Cause and effect
When you're unwell
Unknown factors are a hindrance
