(Chapter Thirty.)

''They aren't coming,'' Hermes said as he sat down next to me. ''I told you not to get your hopes up to high Jaycee.''

''Cody working on it I'm sure.'' I said as he took my hand.

''No, no this was all just to mess with us. It's seven o'clock Jaycee,'' he said as he looked at me. ''They aren't coming, we should get going.''

''Maybe he's right Jaycee.'' my dad said and I frowned.

''But Cody sounded so serious though.'' I said.

''They know how to manipulate people.'' he said. I looked away and frowned. So this was to good to be true and I'm going to get Cody back for this. ''Maybe Cody got cold feet and decided to go against it. Lucinda is pretty wicked.''

''It would have been easy though.'' I said.

''I'll give you to a moment.'' my dad said as he turned, fixing his jacket as he left.

''Hermes, they're staying at a hotel. We can go there and--''

''And what? Have a witch combat in the lobby?" he asked and I glared at him. He cupped my face with one of his hand on my cheek, ''Look, I know how badly you wanted this but it's okay.''

''It's not fair,'' I said and he chuckled.

''Do you just like getting yourself in risky situations?" he asked. ''I know you want her gone, but we'll figure out.'' he said as he kissed my forehead. ''I love you, Jaycee.''

I smiled, feeling all the disappointment leave my body, ''Really? That's the first time you said it.''

He grinned as he put his arm around me, ''I've wanted to wait for a special moment like in a cheesy movies, but now better then later.''

''You don't know how long I've wait to hear you say that. Of course I imagined it by the lake a few times, but now still perfect.'' I said, babbling nervously. ''I love you to, Hermes.''

He leaned in towards me and I closed my eyes, but the kiss never came. I felt Hermes hand wrapped around my  throat and my eyes widen, staring back at his widen as I reached up to get him to let go.

''How sweet.'' I heard Lucinda and my eyes moved to my right to see her walking threw the gates. I breathed in sharply when I saw her hand holding out towards my dad. He had his hands around his throat as if he was trying to move something. ''God, I'm so over this romance bullshit.''

''Stop it!" my dad breathed out and then gasped as he fell down on his knees, the invisible object tighten around his throat.

''Lucinda!" I managed go say. ''Let my dad go.''

Lucinda looked pale, her blonde hair looked frizzy, and her blue eyes were hard, ''You know, I could never really stand you wolves. I think I know a little spell in my black book to maybe get rid of that.''

My eyes widen, ''No.'' I breathed out and Hermes hands tighten, ''Ah! Stop it! Where is Cody?''

''My traitor brother is no concern to you anymore.'' she said and I was confused. What does that mean? I stopped imaging what she could mean and focused on her controlling Hermes. I didn't know any spell to stop him but the block spell, but I,m sure that only works on his mind.

I gave it a try though as I brought my hands up to his wrist, closing my eyes as I said the protection spell. His hand squeezed hard and I couldn't feel any air, ''Hermes!" I yelled and yelled the spell this time strongly. His hand unhooked around my throat and I fell off the bench to my side, gasping in air.

''Jaycee!" Hermes cried, coming down next to me. ''I'm so sorry, she was making me.''

I heard Lucinda scoff, ''So it's true! You damn wolves do have magic!" she coldly said. ''More the reason to get rid of you all!''

''Leave my dad alone!" I said, lifting my head up and I held back the urge to shift and attack. How badly I wanted to rip her throat out. ''Lucinda! This is between you, Hermes, and me!''

''This is between of all of us! I'm so sick of hearing about you're stupid family! Witches aren't allowed to preform the spell to get rid of that part of you because it's a serious dark spell, but I'm willing to try it. Get rid of that wolf of yours, you and Hermes bond breaks apart. You won't be a wolf nor be able to cast spells!" he said.

''You can't do that.'' my dad breathed out.

''Yes I can.'' she said. ''Black spell? I may go a little crazy, but it's worth it. Had to bleed and pray allot to find the bloody spell, but I found it.''

''Lucinda, this is ridiculous!'' Hermes said. ''Do you know how much trouble you can get in?''

''I don't care! I'll be powerful, more powerful then her!" she yelled angrily.

''So this is what this is about? Power? You're a sixth generationer.'' Hermes said.

''And I'll be the best damn sixth generationer alive.'' she said and tossed her hand, sending my dad flying away, hitting the fence. I forced myself up and ran over towards him with Hermes behind me.

''Daddy!" I said as I bent down next to him. He shook his head and brought his hand up to his forehead, crying as I helped him up. ''Are you alright?''

''Think you can rid of me?'' Lucinda asked as she walked over to us.

''Lucinda! Stop this.'' Hermes said. ''This isn't you, this isn't who you are. You use to be so sweet and nice--''

''Everyone needs to stop trying to control my life!" she yelled. ''Lucinda, do this. No, Lucinda, you're doing this fucking wrong! Lucinda you'll never be remembered as a witch because all you have is your pretty looks. Accomplish finishing a damn spell. God, I'm sick and tired of it! Well no more! No one can tell me what to do anymore.''

''Lucinda, dont-'''

''Shut up Hermes!" she yelled and lighten flashed threw the dark sky. ''I don't even care about the stupid bullshit you put me threw. You took everything from me and dumped me as if I'm some toy you got bored of.''

''That's not true.'' Hermes said, shaking his head. ''I did love you and I still do, but as my friend. Lucinda, just turn around and go back to Florida. You can prove to your family you're worth being a witch with light magic, not dark.''

''I rather start with you.'' she said, holding her hand out towards him and a strike of lighten hit next to him.

''Shit! Lucinda!" Hermes cried.

''I know you think I'm a crazy bitch. I can hear it, ever since you broke up with me.'' she said. ''I'll show you crazy!'' she said, coming u to him and grabbed him by the neck.

''No!" I yelled, trying to pull her off and Hermes coughed, gasping in sharply. ''I said get off him!'' I growled and I felt my nails get long.

Lucinda head snapped to look at me, ''Oh lookie, I'm finally get that stupid wolf to turn.'' She reached out to grab me, but I was pushed away and she grabbed my father by the throat. She breathed out heavily and pushed him away, ''Damn mutt!"

My dad hit the wooden gate and even in the dark, I saw him holding back his shift. He wanted to turn so badly, but he knew anywhere other than the woods is a bad idea. Her teeth bared and held her arm out, speaking in Latin and my dad fell to his knees, crying. A serious yowl kind as he clawed at his chest.

I didn't know what she was doing, but I didn't ask as I got up and tackled her away. I got on top of her and grabbed her arms, holding her down. My hair fell in my face, but that didn't stop me as I said the spell to get the dark out.

''Jaycee, don't--'' I heard Hermes but he cut himself off as Lucinda and I flew into the air.

I cut myself off as I gasped, staring at her because she levitated us and I hadn't expect it. She glared up at me and spoke in Latin. My eyes squeezed shut as I cried in pain since I felt like their was a hot iron touching my right shoulder blade.

''Stop!" I cried. I bit my bottom lip, breaking my own skin. I stopped and hissed threw the pain, ''--ah valeat, ah valeat!" I chanted over and again the last part.

She reached up and grabbed my hair, pulling it to the right and I growled in pain, ''You're not strong enough!" she said then turned us. I felt myself falling and I landed on my back, all the air rushing out my body. ''Spell only for the most experience witch and honey, you're hardly experience. You stupid mutt.''

''Jeez, I heard you were a were a real witch bitch--'' a voice said and our head snapped to the fates of the Compton manor garden and Carmina in the prettiest white lace dress came walking in as if she was walking in for tea. ''But not bratty as hell.''

''You're. . .you're Carmina?'' Lucinda asked.

''Sorry I'm late, traffic sucks.'' she said as she looked at Hermes. before looking back at me and Lucinda. ''And that's my protege you're on top of.''

''Protege?'' Lucinda questioned. She laughed, ''Her? Of all people you choose her?'' she coldly asked.

''Jaycee has amazing powers, stronger than yours. You're right, she lacks experience, but a little work will help which is what we're suppose to do tomorrow.'' she said, smiling at me and I awkwardly looked back. ''Go ahead, Jaycee, do the spell again. Actually feel it this time.''

''What?'' both Lucinda and Hermes questioned.

Carmina smiled, ''I know the ending of this chapter, so Jaycee, finish.''

''Fuck you!'' Lucinda said and I felt her skinny fingers go around my throat, but before she could squeeze, she--froze?

''I never did like you're family.'' Carmina said. ''Stuck up high class bitches.''

"Carmina, you can't let Jaycee do the spell alone.''Hermes said as he went over next to Carmina.

''We'll, her father doesn't look very much in the perfect shape to finish. She did make him think he was dropped in a pool of acid.'' she said and my father was laying on his back, his eyes closed as he breathed roughly.

''Then you do it.'' Hermes said. ''You know she can't alone, anything could happen.''

''Jaycee wants to do it.'' she said, brushing her hand across her blonde white hair. ''Hermes, don't question my decisions.''

''I won't let her.'' he said.

''It's Jaycee do it or I let Lucinda go. That'll give Jaycee motivation--let go of my arm.'' she said when Hermes grabbed her.

''She can't.'' he said.

''You don't think she can?'' she asked, snorting. ''You don't have much faith in her then. Jaycee needs faith to be a strong as she can.''

''She can die.'' he said.

''You think I'll let her do it if that was a risk?'' she asked, jerking her arm out. ''Don't question me, boy. Jaycee, give it another try. And feel the magic.''

I took a deep breath and nodded. I looked up at Lucinda as I put my hand on her arms and closed my eyes, speaking the spell. I felt something happening as I spoke, like my head was clouding up as if I was sick. I tried it as I finished and I was having a hard time breathing. ''Ah valeat.'' I finished and opened my eyes. I took in a sharp breath as I saw dark smoke clouded around us. I was scared, but I didn't let it show.

Suddenly Lucinda cried in pain as her arms flew away my neck, but I knew I had to keep my touching her since the spell wasn't over. I saw the smoke close in and a part came to my mouth. I was panting and it went in my mouth. I felt it go down my throat and I wasn't coughing as I should be. I mean, it's smoke! But. . .it felt good.

In the corner of my eyes, I looked to my right up at the sky. I could see the stars! It was like I was only a few feet away, almost so close I could touch them. I wanted to, so badly. I smiled as the black smoke went into my body until it was all gone. When it was, Lucinda fell off me. She fell on her side, crying. I reached my arm up, never taking my eyes off the beautiful starry night. The stars suddenly moved and shaped a wolf. I laughed as the head moved as if the wolf was looking at me. The wolf tossed it head back as if it was howling.

''Jaycee!" Hermes said as he appeared in my way and took me in his arms. I looked at his concern face and I never seen him look so scared. He pushed my hair out my face, ''Are you alright?''

I reached up and touched his cheek, ''I'm perfect.''

''You're high.'' he said, touching my face and I chuckled at his silly accusation. I felt perfect and alive. I don't know what he was worried about. I didn't feel like I was dying, I have never felt so much alive. ''You're cold.''

''Really? I feel warm.'' I said. I fought out of his arms and looked at my dad. I crawled over to him and touched him, ''Daddy? Daddy wake up.'' I said and he took in a sharp breath as he jumped. I screamed a little as I fell back, not expecting him to actually wake up so quickly.

''Did I miss something?'' he asked as he looked behind me at Lucinda and I giggled.

Hermes

''So that dark really drained out of her?'' Cody asked as he looked down at his sleeping sister on the hotel bed. I looked at the gauze on his forehead where Lucinda had hit him with a face earlier when she got into his mind and saw his plan.

''Yes.'' Carmina said. ''The dark is gone and I'm sad to say a good chunk of her light. It'll take awhile to gain it all back.''

''As long as she safe now.'' Cody said. ''My parents are coming, they're not happy with this. They expected so much from us.''

''They'll get over it.'' Carmina said. ''But Cody, don't let them control you both again. Lucinda only turned to dark magic because not your parents put it in her head that she wasn't good enough. You're sister did wrong, but she needs time to heal now. She needs love so she'll never think of turning dark again.''

''I understand.'' he said and turned to face Jaycee and I. ''Thanks, Jaycee.''

''No prob!'' she giggled and I brought my hand up to my head, sighing. I sure hope it doesn't last, she's to girly and loud.

Jaycee

My arms were held out to my sides and my bed levitated from the floor. I laughed, feeling great since it happened so easily and swiftly. I felt strong as I paused mid way in the air and I looked down at the book Carmina gave me. It was a book of spells. I had already did three of them.

My door opened and my mom too in a sharp breath. I dropped my arms and fell to the floor, her hand flying up to her chest, ''Jaycee Russo, no flying in the air again!" she said and I giggled. I'm loving magic.
