(Chapter Sixteen.)
Hermes had dropped me off at home so I could change into something. I had an excuse that I was really sweaty from gym class but I think he must have known I was lying cause I never once sweated in gym class, even as a kid.
But he didn't ask why and dropped me off at home. I ran up to my ran, ignoring my mom welcoming home and my dad asking me why I was such a rush. I looked through my draw of clothes and tried to look for something nice.
"Ugh.", I thought as I couldn't find anything that didn't make me look like lazy person. I didn't own much nice clothes. "Where is that skirt?", I asked myself as I looked for my blue skirt with red flowers and brown belt. I pretty much took every pants and leggings I own out before I found it in the last draw.
I grabbed it with a smile in relief and took off my jeans. I slipped into the skirt and grabbed a white blouse. I was happy when I looked at least a little cute.
I went out my room and sneaked into my mom room, looking at her makeup basket, picking up different eyeliners and color plates. I brought my hand up to my mouth and bit my index nail. I was wondering how I'm suppose to do a nice eyeshadow when I could mess up just putting on some white or black.
"Oh, it can't be to hard.", I thought as I grabbed a makeup brush and put some black eyeshadow on my eyes.
I proven wrong once again. Not only can't I do magic, I can't even put on makeup. I'm a poor excuse of a girl, I should be able to do this! My mom does it so perfectly and I look like a racoon trying to do a smokey eye.
I took a makeup remover wip and clean my face for the second time.
"Want help?", my mom asked, making me jump and I turned to face her. She was smiling and she walked over to me, "Gold is what you should be doing, Jaycee.", she said as she took the brush and palette. She started putting on the eyeshadow and she chuckled, "I never did wear makeup until I met your dad. Auntie Victoria and Auntie Haley gave me this dumb makeover, but I was happy with it. I never done this with my mom, but I'm happy I could do with you. I've been waiting since you were thirteen."
"I just thought it would be fun to try.", I said.
She shook her head and chuckled, "So your not trying to get all cute for Hermes? I haven't seen you wear that skirt for a whole year and it suddenly make it's appearance again?"
I scuffed and rolled my eyes, "Not everything I do is because of Hermes.".
"Sure, Jaycee.", she said and she finished. "All done."
I turned to face the mirror and groaned, "How'd you do that!", I said and pointed at the mirror. She did a good job and she did it in a matter of one minute. It was perfect, clean, and she was right, the brown was amazing with my hazel ones.
I grabbed my flats and walked downstairs, waiting for Hermes to return with his sister in about another fifteen minutes.
My dad stared at me for a moment and I blushed, shifting awkwardly, "Stop staring, dad."
"Where is my weirdo daughter?", he asked and I scuffed, but smiled.
"I take you you think I look beautiful.", I said
"I always think you look beautiful, Jaycee.", he chuckled as he got up from the couch. He put his hands on his waist, "But I think it's finally time to meet Hermes-as he looks like now. Not the little boy you were friends with."
My smiled dropped, "Oh I don't think it's that time yet.".
"Really I think it is.", he said.
I shook my head, "Nope, to early. He isn't even my boyfriend yet.".
He shrugged, "He wasn't either when you were kids. Come on, Jaycee, I wont embarrass you.", he chuckled.
I shook my head again, "No, I don't believe you."
"Your right.", he said. "Abigail, don't you agree? Wouldn't you like to meet Hermes?".
"Yeah, Jaycee.", my mom said and I gave her a look begging for her to disagree.
I turned back to my dad and sighed heavily, "Dad, please, not today."
He grinned, "I can't wait.".
I growled and huffed out my nose, "Your evil.".
I sat down on the couch and wait until Hermes beats outside. I was flipping through channels and my dad cell phone went off. He brought it up to his ear and started talking business with his boss I guess. I had to find a way to get out of here before my dad could embarrass me in front of Hermes. Right now isn't the time for them to be meeting each other.
There was a beep outside suddenly and my dad eyes quickly met mine. I grinned and jumped up, running out the door as he groaned and followed me, but kept talking to his boss. I closed the door behind me and I ran off the porch when he opened the door.
"Ugh! Okay, later then!", my dad said as he apologize to his boss after and went back inside.
I stopped running when I was a few feet away and jumped into the front seat.
Hermes eyebrows raised as he looked at me confused, "What's up with that?".
I chuckled and brushed my hand through my hair, "Oh my dad just being weird."
"So I know where you get it from then.", he said and I playfully hit his arm. I blushed when he looked over at me before turning back to the steering wheel. He cleared his throat and drove away. I hide my smile I wanted to do so badly.
"Yeah, I shouldn't be long.", Isabelle said. "Yeah, my brother taking me with his friend so we wont have to worry about my noisy parents. Oh my God, I hear Ryker Call is going to be there with his friends. Isn't he just so cute?"
I gasped and turned around before I could stop myself, "Excuse me? He's suppose to be grounded for lying to his parents about his detentions."
Her eyes widen and she looked surprised at how I would know him, "H-huh?"
"Ryker my cousin.", I said and she jerked.
"Don't tell him I said that!", she said, concern in her eyes. "Ugh, that would be so embarrassing he knew I had a crush on him."
"He's a little brat anyways.", I said. "He's always bad, believe me."
"So you wont tell him?", she asked and I wanted to kept telling her about my bad ass little cousin, but I knew she would be just worried about her crush being exposed.
"I wont.", I said and she looked calmer.
When we made it to the carnival, she searched for her friends with Hermes and I behind her. It took a moment but we found them by the candy apple stand. She called out her friends who Ryker was with. He took one look at us and he jerked, freezing when he saw me.
My twelve year old cousin looked like he seen a ghost and I pointed at him warningly. We walked over to them and my little cousin looked like he tried his best to stay away from me, but I waved my finger for him to come over to me.
He hesitated, but I gave him a look and he came over. "Your suppose to be ground for a month, Ryker.", I said. "Do your parents know your here?"
He snorted, "Of course they do, Jaycee.".
"Your lying.", I said. "You took one look at me and looked freaked out."
He groaned, "Jaycee, please! Don't tell them or I'll be grounded for another month."
"How'd you make them let leave the house?", I asked.
He grinned, "I told them I was going to go study at my friend Chad house over night and I paid his older sister to pretend to be his mom. Good, huh?", he asked, nudging my side and I gave him a look. He stopped grinning, "Ugh, look Jaycee, I'll pay you to be quiet about this."
"How much?"
"Hey, don't forgot I'm only twelve, almost thirteen, I don't have much.", he said.
"How much do you have now?", I asked.
"Forty dollars-no! I need that to get on rides and do games.", he protested.
"I have your dad on speed dial.", I joked and he looked just liked his dad as he looked annoyed.
He reached into his pocket and gave me the money, "Here."
I chuckled and took it, "I'm sure your groupie girlfriends wont mind paying for you.", I said and he snorted, turning around to leave, but I grabbed his shirt and turned him back. "You leave Isabelle Robinson alone."
He chuckled and whispered, "Don't worry,", he said then cleared his throat. "I think she's a witch, she's very strange."
I wasn't going to tell him he was right about being witch cause that could just make it's way to Hermes and she sure her whole family knows about her mate.
"Don't be crazy.", I said before letting him go.
I walked over to Hermes, "He better stay away from her.", Hermes said
"I told him, he think she's a witch so she'll be safe.", I said and we left to leave the young teenagers to themselves since they were in some group
It was quiet as we walked around the carnival and I so badly wanted to take Hermes hand, but I didn't want to do it and he jerks away.
{Hermes}
"Lets go in there.", Jaycee said, pointing at the funhouse. Of course she of all people would want to go in there.
I chuckled as she grabbed my hand and dragged us over to the entrance. She let go of it and I was tempted to take it back, but I didn't as we walked in. We laughed at the few times and Jaycee even grabbed onto me when they fake clown poked out, scaring her.
I chuckled and we did some of the few fun games in there. We got to the mirror and I was at the mirror that made my hips look wide and Jaycee was at the mirror that made her look supper tall.
"Wow, you should go on a diet.", she said, laughing.
"Oh sure, but how's the weather up there?", I asked and we went further into the mirror maze.
Our reflection went through mirror and we were starting to get lost. I turned to face Jaycee, "Maybe we should-Jaycee?", I questioned when she looked around and I reached out, but it was a mirror I touched.
"Hermes?", she questioned. "Which one of your?".
I groaned, "You let my side, didn't you? Nice job."
She scuffed, "Like I knew this would happen.", she said. "Okay, look, we just go back the same way we did and-ow!"
I panicked, "What?", I asked when I didn't see her reflection anymore. "Jaycee, where'd you go?"
"Hermes?", she questioned. "Where are you? Where'd you go?"
"Me?", I questioned as I walked down an isle to try and look for her. "Where'd you go? Jaycee, hello?"
She finally appeared in one mirror, but her back was facing me and I wasn't sure if it was just her reflection or really her. I went towards it though, "Jaycee?"
But when I got to the mirror, that's what it was. A mirror. I cursed and was so confused since if her reflection was there, where is she then? I closed my eyes and said some Latin so I could find her. Nothing came and I cursed myself when I remember she had one the protection charm. It was one thing to do magic with her, but it was different when I wasn't touching her physically.
I opened my eyes, "Jaycee!", I called out and I found myself at the entrance of the mirror maze. "Crap.", I said when I didn't see her around.
"Ah! No, get away from me!", I heard Jaycee's voice and I turned around, running down isles of mirrors, looking for her. "No, don't take it-please, don't!"
I quicken my pace and I started to panic. Lucinda quickly popped into my mind and I knew she was here. The just made me more scared because she couldn't do anything to Jaycee but she could do something to me but it sounds like she wasn't after me really.
I turned a isle and I quickly stopped, taking a step back and I did a double take as my eyes widen. I didn find Jaycee-well, I think it's her.
The wolf pup whined as it brought it's injured looking right front paw up as It looked up at me.
