(Chapter Seventeen.)
The pup whimpered as it walked over to me, making sure not to use her right front paw. I bent down and picked it up, looking at the clothes Jaycee was wearing before looking down at the pup. “Jaycee?”, I asked and the pup whined. “What happened to you?”
She growled—which wasn't scary at all. It actually made her seem kind of cute.
I closed my eyes and got into her mind. I saw her walking down a isle of mirrors searching for me until Cody walked into view and she stopped, shocked to see him. Jaycee took a step back, “Leave me alone.”, she said and she bumped into someone.
She turned around and gasped when she saw Lucinda, “What's the matter, Jaycee?”, she asked and Jaycee took a step back as Lucinda took a step towards her. “You look kind of something.”, she said
Jaycee scuffed, “Of you? Yeah right, I aint scared of nothing.”, she said but I knew in the back of her head she knew she was scared of Lucinda little, knowing she could do anything to Jaycee.
“I never said scared of me.”, she said and Jaycee glared her for making her feel stupid.
“Move away and leave me alone. You can't do anything to do me anyways.”, she said as she walked around Lucinda but Lucinda grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
Jaycee huffed out her nose and her eyes darken as she snatched her arm back, “Don't touch me, witch.”
“Believe me, I don't like it either.”, she said, taking a step forward to get in Jaycee's face. “I wouldn't want you to give me fleas.”.
A small growl came out of Jaycee mouth and I could feel Jaycee anger, fear, humiliation, and feel intimidated by Lucinda since Jaycee knew Lucinda was strong and she could feel her magic.
“Now, I don't know what you think you could just steal Hermes from me,”, Lucinda said as she step forward toward Jaycee and Jaycee stepped back until her back hit a mirror. “I don't care if you think he's your mate, your sadly mistaken.”
“I've known he was ever since I was eleven, I think I would know if he wasn't.”, Jaycee said, her voice hard as she glared at Lucinda. “I've known Hermes longer than you, I had him first Lucinda. I was his best friend, you could never replace that.”
Lucinda filched with anger and she shivered like she was possessed, her beautiful blue eyes going hard cold, and she jerked towards Jaycee until Cody spoke, “Easy, Luce, remember you aren't like that.”
“She's tempting me, Code.”, Lucinda said.
Jaycee couldn't hold her damn tongue, “What makes you more angry, Lucinda? That Hermes is over you or that he's old enough to have the feelings for me, never even giving a second thought of getting back together with you. Even if you weren't high on black magic, he would have come back and be with me, it's fate. We were destined to be together, you two weren't. Your spirits choosed us to be together, not you to.”, she said with a smirk.
Lucinda breathed out of her mouth heavenly and grabbed Jaycees right arm. Right where her hand was, it was like a hot iron was touching her or she had touched a stove.
Jaycee screamed in pain and pushed Lucinda away, “Ah! No, get away from me!”, she yelled as she brought her arm up to see a hot red hand print where Lucinda hand was. She had burnt and breathed cold air onto the burn, but it didn't work. She was hissing in pain.
She looked at the bracelet and cursed how it didn’t work if Lucinda physically touched her.
Lucinda stepped forward again and reached out, putting her hand around the braclete, “No, don't take it—please, don't!” she said when Lucinda ripped the bracelet off her.
“Lucinda, he's coming!”, Cody hissed at his sister. “Lets go before he sees us.”
Lucinda looked angry for not having the chance to to finish this as she stepped backwards, whispering something Jaycee couldn't get, she was to concern about the burn mark on her arm. Suddenly it felt like someone had slammed a hammer down on her nails and she brought her hands up to her face, seeing her nails growling and a painful headache came, bring her hands to her face.
“Let Hermes try to fix you.”, she chuckled before running away.
The memory quickly fasten through Jaycee forced turned into a giant wolf but when she was turned, she shrunk into a wolf pup.
I took myself out of her memory when I saw myself turn the corner.
“Holy crap.”, I whispered and Jaycee whined. “Can't you turn back?', I asked and she shook her head. “She forced you like this.”, I said and I got in her mind.
Turn me back!, she growled.
“Eh...”, I said and she lowly growled. “I can't—Jaycee, calm down!”, I said when she started to squirm around in my hands. I tucked her under my arm like a football and she just looked more pissed, but stopped what she was doing. “What I mean, is that I could maybe. It might just be really hard to break since Lucinda magic is more powerful than mine. I don't know how long you could be like this for.”
Jaycee started to squirm again and I sighed, grabbed her from under her arms and held her in front of me, “Jaycee, stop this. I know your angry, but we'll figure something out.”
I saw in her mind she was mix with angry, confusion, and she was actually embarrassed right now for me to have to carry her with her clothes in my other hand because I had her bra showing. I hid Jaycee behind a booth and went over to my sister, tapping her on her shoulder, “Your going to your friend house tonight, right?”, I asked.
“Yeah?”, she said. “Hermes, what's wrong? You look a little freaked out.”
“I'm fine.”, I said to her. “Me and Jaycee are about to go, see you tomorrow.”
“Okay.”, she said, then turned around to her pre-teen friends.
I turned and grabbed Jaycee. I hopped into my father car and put Jaycee on the passenger seat, “Okay, so I'll. . .” I didn't know how to finish that really since I didn't know what I was going to do.
Jaycee leaned over and put her paws on my lap, whining. I looked inside her head, How am I suppose to go home?
“I don't know.”, I said honestly and Jaycee big hazel puppy eyes looked into mine with sadness. “Unless you want to break the chain and tell your parents you were stuck with a warlock and it's my fault you were turned like this for who know how long.”
She made a small growling sound up at me and I couldn't help but chuckle, petting her head, but she snipped at me, making my hand pull back. “And this is why I like cats.”
She jumped onto my lap and put her front paws on my chest, growling up at me, Find someone to fix me!
“And how do you expect me to do that? My parents are fourth generationers like me the only other powerful witches around are an hour and half away.”, I told her. “Look, you will just have to be like this for one night and tomorrow we will drive the hour and half drive to Colton to see if Carmina will fix you.”, I told you.
And what about my parents? They are expecting me to come home you know.
“I handle it.”, I said and she huffed out her nose. “Well I doubt you have a dog door you could just slip in through and just walk passed your parents.”
I picked her phone up, “So I should call mom, huh? The way your dad ran out after you, it looks like your mom would be more cooler.”
Hermes, don't do anything stupid, she said in my head.
“Just trust me.”, I said as I slid threw her contacts for mom. She didn't have many so it was easy to find and I brought the phone up my ear, it ringing. I whispered a little spell and cleared my throat, that's when her mom picked up.
“Hey Jaycee.”, her mom said.
I put on a smile, “Hey mom,”, I said, my voice sounding completely like Jaycee's, making Jaycee's ears pop up and her eyes widen. I have to be quick though, the spell can go quickly. “I just want to ask if I could go over to Jasmi—Jessica's place tonight. We met up at the carnival and it would be totally awesome if I could stay over night.”
Totally awesome!? I don't sound or talk like that!, Jaycee said in my ear.
“Uh. . .I don't know Jaycee. Are you okay?”, she asked.
I chuckled, “Mom, of course. Please, I know it's short notice but please!”
She hesitated, but sighed, “Okay, Jaycee, have fun.”
“Thanks!”, I said in a girly way and hung up, clearing my throat to change back to normal.
I don't sound anything like that you idiot!, she said
“Hey, it worked.”, I said. “And maybe I should have toned it down, you are from from a preppy girl.”
She bared her teeth at me and I shook my head, “Not scary, Jaycee. Actually, it's kind of cute. The most I seen you look adorable.”
She reached her neck out far as she can and snipped at my face, but I ignored her rude comments she was say as I picked her up and placed her down on the passenger seat.
And where am I suppose to stay tonight, huh?
“Promise not to eat my cat in the middle of the night?”, I asked.
After driving to my house, I had Jaycee in my arm. I opened my door to peak my head in to see if my parents were in the living room, but they weren't. I went in and quickly rushed upstairs. I made it to my room and I locked the door behind me.
Um, Hermes.
“Huh?”, I asked.
I have. .well, I have to use the bathroom. .
“What?”, I questioned down at her and she awkwardly stay quiet. I just groaned as I sneaked outside to the back yard and put her down on the grass, nervously watching in the kitchen for my parents and I looked back down at Jaycee, “Well?!”, I said impatiently.
I can't with you just watching! I may be a wolf right now, but I’m still a lady! Go back inside.
“Seriously?”, I asked, groaning as I went back inside and turned away from Jaycee
After a moment, she walked back inside and jumped on her back legs for me to pick her up. I bent down and scoped her up. I cradled her like a baby in my right arm as I went back upstairs.
“Hermes?”, my mom questioned behind me, making me freeze.
“Oh hey mom.”, I said.
“How was the carnival, your home pretty early.”, she said.
“Yeah, well, it got a little boring and just decided to come home. I'm just going to eat and watch TV.”, I said.
“That's good, better then hanging out with that raven hair mutt.”, she said and I quickly reached up, covering Jaycee mouth before she could make a sound
I forced myself to chuckle, “Yeah.”, I said, quickly stepping into my room and closed the door.
I tossed Jaycee on the bed and she growled, Mutt? MUTT! I'm not a mutt!
“Hey.”, I said, snapping my fingers and brought my index finger up to my mouth. “Quiet.”
I unbutton my flannel shirt and sat down on the bed with a sigh, “What a night.”, I said to myself and Jaycee breathed hard out her nose, laying down on her stomach and rested her head on my lap. I looked down at her head and scratched the top of her head.
