(Chapter Eight.)
I grinned as I sneaked up behind Hermes, him completely oblivious of me coming towards him. I held my hands out and when I reached him, I quickly tickled him, "Surprise!", I said pretty loudly.
Hermes body stiffen as his rose, gasping. He turned around and glared at me, "Jaycee!".
I chuckled, "Oh come on, it was funny! You look like you were day dreaming anyways.". He snorted and I saw him look me over. I blush, but I leaned against the locker next to him, bring one of my hands up to my head. I was far from posing 'sexy'. I never tried to please anyone with my looks, but Hermes is one of those guys who seem to like girls who care in their looks a little. I had on rip shorts (They were pretty long, school code about wearing short that go past our finger tips. Only Jenny could get away with it since her mom on the committee.) with some black leggings and black combat boots with a red and black flannel shirt. "So,", I said, trying to avoid the silence, "How was your night?".
His eyebrows rose before he chuckled once, closing his locker, "Is that you way of trying to look sexy, Jaycee? You look pretty uncomfortable actually.".
I frowned as I stood up from the locker, cursing myself for failing the pose. I cleared my throat, "I thought we could hang out again after school.".
"I can't.", he said and I was waiting for his hand to go up behind his neck to scratch, but the scratch never came.
I pouted, "Why?", I asked.
"I...", he started, but looking down at the ground for a moment for looking back up at me. "I have to take care of something before we can hang out again.", he said.
My eyebrows pushed together, I was totally confused. I didn't know what he means and I have a feeling he wont tell me, but I gave it a try, "What do you mean?".
He shook his head, "It's nothing for your concerns.", he said, turning to walk away, but like always, I grabbed him and turned around, wanting answers.
"No, tell me. I can handle anything.", I told him.
"Yeah, you freaking out when you realized what I am.", he said and I glared at him for a moment. "Look, Jaycee, I'm serious. Stay away from me, I don't want you to get hurt.", he said, walking away quickly.
"Hurt?", I whispered to myself, confused. How will I get hurt?
I went to class totally confused and a guy was sitting behind the desk I usually sit at. I never seen him before. He had blonde hair and was pretty tan. He had this kiddish-hot look and he was a hot guy.
He stared up at me when I came over to my desk. Though he was hot, he kind of weirded me out a little. I got this strange crawly feeling on my back as I sat down and I could feel him staring at my back.
He cleared his throat suddenly, "I'm Cody.".
I turned hesitantly when no one spoke back to him, "Me?".
He chuckled, his smile perfect, "Yes, you. It would be considered nice to know you name now."
"Oh, it's Jaycee.", I said.
"Ah, so your Jaycee.", he said, sounding like he was talking to himself since he did whisper it. My eyebrows came together and when I was about to ask him what he meant, he leant forwards towards me, "Your pretty cute.".
I couldn't help be a little amused at how blunt he was, "Um, thank you?".
He bit his bottom lip, "So, you got a boyfriend?".
"No.", I said. "And I don't date.".
"Boys?", he asked. "Oh, so you like the ladies-"
I chuckled, "No, no, I mean, I'm just not dating anyone right now and don't plan to. Got school to worry about.".
"Ah,", he said. "Me and my twin, Lucinda, just arrived. I need a tour guide to show me around and I thought maybe you could be that girl.".
"Nash isn't very big, I'm sure you could go through it all in five minutes.", I said. "So, cool that you're a twin.".
He shrugged, "She's a,", he leaned more closer to me to whisper, "She the crazy one.".
"Oh, so that means you're the sane responsible one?", I asked, pointing at him and raised my chin a little. "Well, if that's true, I can't wait to meet her then.".
He grinned and chuckled, "You'll wish you hadn't.".
(Hermes)
I ran my fingers across my hair as I walked into my second class and when I looked at the back of the room, my blood went cold as ice. My breathing stopped as my book dropped from my hand, the loud sound made most of the class, and Lucinda to take her long nail off a guy name Austen jaw line and she turned her face towards me, seeming surprise until she saw me. She grinned with her mouth closes, obvious to see my surprise.
My Bio teacher came over to me, bending down and pick up my book, "Alright there, Mr Robinson?", he asked.
"Uh . . ", I said, turning to face him and I took my book back, "yes, I am. Headache, that's all.".
He nodded once, seeming like he didn't really care as he turn back to go to his desk and finish his word puzzle in today news paper. I turned my head back towards Lucinda who went back to flirting with Austen, but I knew myself she was laughing to herself like the evil witch she is.
I sat down in the front row, but it still felt like she could easily just touch me. I brought my hand up to my mouth, so this is what she meant by see you soon. If she wanted to kill Jaycee in my dreams, she could do it in reality.
I didn't pay attention at all through class, how could I? I couldn't breath straight at all, my stomach turned, and I was worried. When class finally ended, I quickly packed my stuff up and left the classroom, hoping I wouldn't have my next class with her.
As I walked down the hallway, I saw a familiar blonde. As I walked passed Cody, we looked at each other and I caught a glimpse of what his thoughts were about. In his mind, he thought Jaycee was such a hottie and maybe Lucinda shouldn't be so hard to her, for his sakes.
My head turned around, glaring at the back of his head. My hands balled up in a fist as I turned my head back around, wishing I could be anywhere but here. Of course Cody would be here, he follows Lucinda around everywhere. Their twins and when witches or warlocks are twins, they tend to be close, but unlike Lucinda, his magic good. . .for right now I'm sure.
I went in the boys bathroom and went into a stall, sitting down on the toilet, bring my hands up to my mouth. It's okay, Lucinda isn't that crazy...I hope.
When I knew I couldn't hide in the bathroom forever, I got up and left, going to my next class, which I was safe.
(Jaycee)
I brought an apple slice up to my mouth when I looked over at the table where Hermes usually at, but he wasn't there. I was curious to where he could be at, after with what happened earlier, I wanted answers from him.
"I have never seen you dress like this.", Louis said, bring my attention to him. "Never so-hot. It's for old flame, isn't it?", he asked.
"Old flame?", I asked, chuckling. "I didn't meet Hermes like in the summer or anything, we're childhood best friends. And nope.", I said, popping the p.
"Mh-hmm.", he said. "I never her so-girlish, have you Jessica?", he said, leaning towards Jessica and I pursed my lips, giving him a 'shut up' look.
"He's right.", Jessica said. "Even though he seems like a jerk, I have never seen her so...well, like a love sick puppy.".
I scuffed, hating she called me the same thing Jace had called me, "No idea what you both could mean. I like to dress nice sometimes.".
"Says the tomboy of the group.", Louis said.
I went back to eating my lunch when I looked around the caf, catching Cody with a some blonde haired girl. They were close near each other, like they were whispering to each other. I couldn't hear them since it was very, very loud in here.
I turned back to Jessica and Louis, "Hey guys, do you know anything about new twins?".
"I have class with Lucinda,", Louis said. "She seems very...well, like a more brainer version of Jenny.".
"I have third with that guy, Cody. He didn't say anything, just kept writing in his notebook.", Jessica said, making a face like she saw something weird happened. "It was kind of strange, he was mouthing something.".
"He didn't talk to you?", I asked and she shook her head. "Well, I have first with him and he flirted with me. Strange, he seemed very talkative in my class.".
"Or with you.", Louis said. He grinned, "Someone finally going to get sum this year.", he said and I hit his arm.
"Shut up, your still a virgin to.", I said and he rolled his eyes. "But I have this weird feeling about him, to.", I said. "He just gives me these...like something crawling all over my body, like a spider or something.".
Jessica nodded, "Same here, their bad news.".
"Oh come on,", Louis said, laughing. "We don't even know them and your judging them? They could be pretty cool people.".
"You think the guy hot, huh?", Jessica asked.
He through a chip at her, "Shut up, just because I'm gay doesn't mean I like every guy I see.".
"I know, but you do like blondes.", she said.
I chuckled for a moment before turning to look back at Cody and the girl, Lucinda. They were still talking to each other, maybe Louis is right, I shouldn't judge so quickly.
(Hermes)
I hide myself in the library at lunch, not wanting to be in the same room as Lucinda and Jaycee. I have to try avoiding them both as long as I can. I thought I could deal with Lucinda in my dreams, but now in person? I have to think of something first.
As I walked down a hallway, I felt like someone come up behind me and I smelt a familiar rose perfume. I paused, sighed, and turned to face the blonde demon, "What are you doing here?", I asked.
"Making sure I keep you in check.", she grinned. "And I thought the school back in Tampa were ugly.", she said, looking around. She turned back to me, "You seem pretty popular here, you stick out from the crowd.".
"Leave.", I said. "I don't want you here. How are you here anyways? I'm sure your parents aren't here.".
"Mommy and daddy are completely fine with Cod and I being here.", she said innocently.
"Their afraid of you.", I said, just spitting it out. It was true, she was a six generation, her parents are fifth, making her stronger then them. "Of your darkness.".
She didn't look happy and she pressed her lips together, "I'm not a black witch! Why do you think I use dark magic? Just because I'm stronger doesn't make me-"
"I can see it, Luce.", I said. "I seen the book in your room, the leather one with the serpent on it.".
"Doesn't mean I use anything from it.", she hissed. "Look, it wasn't mine. You know Connie, everyone suspected her family of being dark, it was hers and she left it at my house.".
"I'm not talking to you about this here.", I said. "Go home, I broke up with you. Move on, I'm sure there someone out there that's better for you-"
"I don't lose, Hermes.", she said, lifting one of her right hand up and clinched it. I could feel her magic, but she closed her eyes and forced it down, "Keep pretty girl away from you and there'll be no problems. Your mine.", she said before walking away.
