Chapter Thirteen
"Daddy!" I yell, jumping into my father's arms when I exited the terminal. He caught me and squeezed me tight, kissing the top of my head. He let me down as Ashton comes running to him.
"Hey, buddy. Did you miss Grandpa?" He asks Ash, smiling at him. Ash nods and wraps his arms around daddy's neck. We walked out of the airport while Mitch carried all of our luggage.
"I could've used some help." Mitch sneers, throwing all the baggage into the trunk of the car as daddy puts Ash in his carseat. "I'm not some monkey you use when you get lazy."
"Yeah, but at the same time I don't care. Big brothers are supposed to take care of their little sisters." I retort, getting into the passenger side as Mitch gets into the backseat. Dad started the car and drove all of us home, the nostalgia taking over. We all get out of the car and enter the big house, the smell of oak still the same since before I left.
"Daddy before you get all comfy, I have somthing to tell you guys." I say as the all get settled on the couch that mom insisted we get because it was a good omen, whatever that meant. Dad raises his eyebrow as Mitch turns towards me. I take a deep breath and let the truth spill out.

"No, no, no, no!" Mitch yells, tugging at his hair. I chuckle as he paces around the living room as he has done so many times in the past. It was good to be home. "This is so not fair!"
"Are you saying you want kids?" Daddy asks Mitch, astounded. Mitch rolls his eyes at dad then turns to me, knowing I understood.
"Hell no! I just think it's unfair that Luna can have sex as much as she wants but I haven't gotten laid since June!" He whines, falling on the chair and crossing his arms over his chest like a child. He pouts and glares at me as if he was in time-out.
"I think there is a bigger issue at hand then the fact that most of the girls in this town think you're in a relationship with Henry." Dad yells at Mitch. I laugh, remembering Henry's ideal life that meant him and Mitch were married. I am brought out of my own world when Daddy hands me his cell phone.
"Why did you g-"
"Call him." Daddy tells me, pointing at the pre-dialed number on the screen. I shake my head, hoping he would just let it go. "He has a right to know, baby girl." He says, making me see the reality of the situation. But I had no idea what I was supposed to say.
'Hey, remember how I broke your heart and then slept with you just to break your heart again Well, somewhere in there we forgot to wrap it up with a condom. Have a nice life!'
I sigh, knowing I had to do it sooner or later. Guess now was as good as any other time. I listen to the phone ring five times before his voicemail comes on.
"Hey, you reached Danny Hart. Leave a message after the beep."Beep.
"Danny? T-this is... Luna. Ca-can you just c-call-" I hang up, not able to even leave a full message. I give dad the phone back as a tear silently fall down my cheek.
"I can't do this. Ruin his life again. He's finally happy. I hear he has a new girlfriend. They moved in together. They're engaged. I can't ruin his life with a mistake I made. I can't." I cry, looking at my father. The tears stream down my face, dripping onto my shirt. His smile broke and was replaced by sadness. He brought me into his arms and tried to calm me down, rubbing my back as I kept crying. How could I sit here and ruin his life?

Danny's POV:
""Danny? T-this is... Luna. Ca-can you just c-call-" The message ends, making me confused. Why would she call me?
"Call her, you know you want to." My friend Nate tells me, sitting on the living room couch. "You know you're interested in who Marco is. You said it yourself."
"I don't care about her." I lie, throwing my phone next to him on the couch as I continue eating my sandwich.
"Hey, this is Nate. I just wanted to tell you that Danny is curious about who Marco is." I hear nate say, holding his phone up to his ear. I look at him in confusion until he speaks again. "When did you get back home? Henry said you were going back to Paris."
"Hang up the phone." I warn him, standing up and walking over to him. He flips me off and stands up. Walking away from me, he keeps talking.
"Lu, I didn't call just to hear you talk about Ash, although I love the little man." Nate keeps on going. I chase him around the house, finally tackling him when he puts the phone on speaker and shushes me.
"Well, I came back home for a reason. I'm getting the rest of my stuff and permanently moving to Paris." She says, her voice filled with sorrow. "I did a really bad thing in the UK and am gonna have to take responsibility."
"What did you do now?" He asks her, daring me to say something.
"Promise not to tell Danny. He has to hear it from me and only me." She tells him. Sighing, she continues, "Remember when I told you I.. uh, slept with him?"
"Yeah and how he hated you after it." Nate glared at me while talking to her.
"Well, we did a stupid thing and forgot something." She says slowly, making me think for a second.
"YOU'RE PREGNANT?!" I yell, letting go of Nate and stepping back. Nate takes the phone off of speaker and hangs up the phone. "She's pregnant?!"
"Chill." Nate tries to calm me. I feel like my eyeballs were going to pop out of my head. I stay still for a second, remembering how we were in such a moment I forgot- dammit! "Where the hell are you going?"
"Home." I say, taking my keys and my phone. I get in my car and head down the road, thinking about how she must feel. I just kicked her out when she was trying to apologize. Then she had to find this out and I wasn't even there for her. She must feel so hurt. I'm going to make this right.
*****
"What are you doing here?" The General asks me, glaring. I gulp and think about turning back but stand my ground.
"I have to speak to your daughter, sir." I say, looking at him.
"You came across the ocean to speak to Luna?" He asks me, raising his eyebrow. I nod, hoping he would understand. "She's not home."
"Then where is she?" I ask him, begging. He stifles a laugh and shakes his head. "Where she always goes when she's upset."
"Where?" I look at him.
******
"What am I gonna do, momma?" I hear Luna's soft voice. I walk further down the lines of the cemetery, the moon lighting the place. "I am so screwed."
I walk towards where she was sat, in front of a tombstone which was definitely her mother's. She had a bouquet of roses to her right and an unopened bottle of vodka to her right.
"He probably never wants to even think of me, let alone know that we are linked for life now. I f***ed up so badly." She explains further. "And the funny thing about it was I thought he was the one... he probably is the one, actually. He saw me as a person, not just an object of lust. He pushed me to do things, to try harder, be better. I really loved- no, still love him, mommy."
"I love you, too." I blurt out, immediately regretting it. She looks around confused.
"Danny?" She asks, furrowing her eyebrows. She stands up and looks at me as if I was a ghost. "No, this i-is just a, uh... a hallucination. I'm going crazy. I'm finally going insane." She tries to tell herself, shaking her head. I chuckle at her apparent "insanity" and walk towards her.
"Luna, it's really me." I tell her, watching her stumble back, tears falling from her eyes.
"W-why are you here?" She asks, the tears coming more rapidly. I get as close as possible to her and wipe away her tears.
"Because no matter how much I try to hate you, all I can do is love you." I tell her, taking her chin in my hand, tilting her head so she was looking at me.
"What about Regina? I thought you two were together?"
"I don't care about her, it was just to try to prove to everyone and myself that I didn't need you. But I do." I say, looking at her angelic face. She was about to say something else when I brought my lips to hers, shutting her up. Her arms wrap around my neck as my other hands pull her face closer to mine. We stay like that for a few minutes until she pulls us apart, her eyes filled with a mix of joy and sadness.
"You love me?" She asks, her voice breaking. I nod, tracing my thumb over her lips.
"Now, who is Marco?" I ask, watching her face change expressions and her stance change.
"He- uh, he's.... well..." She stalls, trying to find a way out of the conversation. She finally gives up when she sees the determination in my eyes. "He's Ash's dad."
"...oh." I say, confused. "Wait, isn't he...?"
"Yeah. We never told Tasha about it. He only comes around once a year, says hi to Ash and then leaves." She explains. "But, I never wanted you to know. And your mom made it so if I stayed away, you would never know. "
"Why didn't you just tell me?" I ask her.
"Because I didn't want you to know- know about Kayla." She says, dropping to the ground. I furrow my eyebrows and sit next to her. "You would have hated me. And I didn't want you to hate me." She sobs. I hold her in my arms as she tells me about Kayla, adding fuel to the anger I harbor for my mother.
