Chapter Fourteen : The End
-_____-
"Danny, do you think my face looks fat?" I ask him, about to put on my makeup.
"No, baby. You look beautiful as always." He replies, kissing my cheek and going out of the bathroom and downstairs. I finish my make up and waddle down the steps to the kitchen and watch Danny and Ash search through the boxes trying to find some food.
"What box are the Lucky Charms in, babe?" Danny questions, looking defeated.
"The one marked breakfast." I laugh, walking into the living room and sitting on the couch.
"Mommy, when is my sister gonna get here?" Ash asks me, jumping up and sitting on my lap.
"Hopefully really soon. Mommy wants her to get out really quick." I tell him, kissing his head. "Now, go get some breakfast so Danny can drive you to pre-k."
"Yay! School!" He cheers, getting off my lap and running to get his shoes on.
"We're heading out, have fun today." Danny yells, closing the front door. I watch some tv for a while then decide to unpack the kitchen, getting a bit hungry. Boy, was this gonna be a boring day.
******
"Tasha, shut up." I tell her, digging into my ice cream. She laughs as she finishes her salad. Henry finally arrives, wearing sunglasses and a Yankees hat.
"I hate the sun. I hope it dies soon." He mumbles, looking at the menu. "Yo! Waiter dude! I want a beer!"
"You want any food with that?" I ask.
"Afternoon to you too, sunshine." Tasha chuckles as Henry slowly turns to her.
"Both of you sluts, stop yelling." He groans, covering his ears. The waiter brings Henry his beer and quickly walks away, obviously scared. "I really need to stop drinking."
"Says the guy who has a beer at 1pm on a tuesday." Tasha mocks him, pushing her plate away.
"I have a bit of a problem." He admits, taking off his glasses, squinting because of the sun.
"What, hun?" I ask, stopping the spoonful of chocolate yumminess from entering my mouth.
"I have a person who's still asleep at my apartment." He says, making Tasha scuff.
"And you left him there, alone?"
"Well, it's not his first time there. But the problem is that... he wants to go out, like on a date." henry drops his head to the table.
"So, what's the problem?" I ask, really confused.
"He's not... out yet. He wants to go to like a secluded spot."
"Ohhh." Both Tasha and I drawl out.
"Well, do we know him?"
"Yeah."
"Is he from high school?"
"Kinda."
"Is he... oh no." My eyes start to get wide. I shake my head and squeal in joy. "OH MY GOD!"
"What? Who is it?" Tash asks me.
"Oh, look at the time. I've gotta get my son from school. See you lovelies later." I avoid her question, waving goodbye and getting into my car. I spent the next ten minutes driving to the school, listening to freaking barney songs. I wanna break this damn cd.
"Ashie, baby!" I say, as my little man runs to me. I pick him up and hug him tight.
"I made a picture today, mommy." Ash tells me proudly.
"You did? Can I see?" I ask, putting him down as he runs to get it.
"Hi, Luna."
"Hi Mary." I greet the teacher, a girl I went to school with, Mary Genkins. "How's he doing?"
"Very good. All he talks about is his almost here baby sister. How long you got left, you look like you're about to pop." She giggles, looking at my belly.
"God I hope soon. I feel so uncomf- Ahhhh!" I yell, feeling a pain run through me.
"Speak his name and he shall appear!" Mary yells, smiling and getting me to a chair. "I think you're having the baby."
*****
"I'm here baby girl." Daddy tells me, smiling and holding my hand.
"Hi daddy." I greet him, smiling weakly. "Where's Danny?"
"He got stuck in traffic. There was a crash near Saintsburg and it backed up the lanes. He'll be here soon."
"Ok, where's Mitch?"
"Right here, bug." He says, walking in with two coffee cups. he hands one to daddy and sits on the right side of my hospital bed. "How are you, buggabee?"
"Tired. So, you do anything... interesting last night?" I say, raising my eyebrow.
"Dad, can we have a minute?" He tells daddy, making him step out.
"I hate you. It's like telepathy. I want a refund on you. Bring you back to the hospital where you were born." He spouts, stomping his foot.
"Mitchy, it's ok to like him. We will all love you no matter what." I reassure him, squeezing his hand.
"Whatever." He blushes, shaking his head. My doctor then comes in, acting all cheery.
"Hello Luna. Good to see you, especially in these circumstances." Dr. Nealson tell me, smiling.
"Well, good for you. You've never had a baby disrupt your whole body system." I snarkily reply. He shakes his head and chuclkes.
"Good news, 10 cm." He says, walking out to get the nurses.
"What does that mean again?" Mitch asks. I just look away from him, waiting for my dad and the doctor to come back
******
"I'm here." Danny whispers, opening the room door. I smile at him, holding our little girl. Ash was asleep at the foot of the bed as Danny walks over to us.
"Meet your baby girl." I whisper, handing her to him. I watch his face change into 50 different emotions in one minute as he holds her.
"Shes so small." He says, his eyes welling with tears. He smiles at me as i reciprocate it.
"What should we name her?" I ask as he sits on the left side of the bed.
"Stella." he replies, kissing the top of my head.
"Mommy?" Ash asks me, waking up.
"Yeah baby?" I reply.
"Is my baby here?" He looks at me with puppy dog eyes. Climbing up towards us, he sits right in between me and Danny, looking at Stella. "Wow, shes little."
"Yeah she is, baby." I tell him, stroking his hair.
*****
"I'm so glad to be home." I tell Danny, getting under the blankets on our bed. he chuckles, walking out of the bathroom.
"Im glad you're home." he says, walking to me and kneeling on the floor. He wraps his arms around my waist as I come in for a kiss. "I have to ask you something though." He says, looking into my eyes.
"What is it?" I ask, feeling a bit scared.
"Luna, we've known each other for a long while now. had our ups and downs, fights and our make-ups. We've had a beautiful baby girl together and I gained a beautiful son who has an amazing and hot mom. We've moved in together, this big, wonderful house. And I love you so much, more than life itself. I wouldn't trade this life for anything in the world." He goes on. I chuckle, thinking he's just doing one of his little I love you speeches until he reaches into his pocket and holds a ring between his thumb and index finger. I cover my mouth with my hands, hiding my gasp as he smiles at me. "So, I gotta ask this question... Luna, will you marry me and spend the rest of our lives together?" He asks.
"Yes!" I yell, throwing my arms around him and kissing him as I feel tears fall down my face. He puts the ring on my left ring finger and stands up, picking me up and kissing me. I wrap my arms around him once again and start to cry happy tears. It was our perfect little life. The perfect house, family and all the love we have for our kids. But, to spend eternity together, that was the greatest gift Danny could have given me that night. And it made me love him even more.
Even though we had our fights, misunderstandings, ups and downs... there was no doubt of our love for each other. We got married that summer, the ceremony in absolute chaos. I had been late getting up, wiped dorito dust on my dress by accident and when I was walking down the aisle, I realized I didn't pee before we got started. Danny and I made our own vows, his vows still making my heart do flips. After we got back from our honeymoon, Danny legally became Ash's father. Tasha and Henry became Stella's godparents. Henry and Mitchell came out with their relationship. They later got married and had adopted their son, Mark. Tasha met a very successful director and married him. They didn't want kids but made sure to visit us all the time. Daddy had a heart attack after a few years, putting him on horrible health. A year later, he died in his sleep. When I found him, I broke down. I spent weeks crying, as did Mitch. When the funeral took place, we couldn't even face the coffin. But after a while, we got it through our heads that at least he went peacefully and now, he can rest forever with mommy.
I guess this is the end of our story. It feels like we've been telling this for so long. I just want everyone to know, there is always happiness out there. You will find it one day. But before that, you have to go through hardships. But thats what life is about. Life gives you a test to teach you a lesson and even if you fail that test, you can still learn from it. So goodbye everyone and please, stay happy. ~Luna
