Ashley's POV:

We got to Paisley's house and we got all her stuff that she needed. Now, we're heading back to our house and Nolan was the one driving now. He had his hand on my thigh as usual and I was leaning my head on the window with my hand on his.

"Mom said she has something to tell us when we get home." Ashton said, I turned to him and raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, what did you do?" I asked him, he glared at me and I raised my eyebrow higher.

"I swear, I didn't do anything." He said raising his arms up, I sighed and nodded my head.

"At least nothing that I know of." He added, I glared at him and he just shrugged.

"I'm sure it's nothing, you know Mom." He said, I nodded my head and turned back front.

"Don't worry, I'm sure everything's fine, maybe it's good news." Nolan said rubbing my thigh, I smiled and nodded my head. He grabbed my hand and placed a kiss on it, I smiled wider and went back to looking outside the window.

When we pulled up at our house, we saw another car parked, but it wasn't Mom's or Dad's. I got confused and turned to Nolan, he was confused as well and shrugged his shoulders. We all got out of the car and we saw Hazel pull up as well, great timing.

"Oh cool, Hazel's here." Paisley said voicing my thoughts, we all got out of the car and Ashton got Paisley's overnight bag. Ooohhhh there's definitely something going on here.

Hazel came up to us with her bag and she had a big smile on her face.

"Let's get this girl's night started!" She exclaimed, I laughed along with Paisley and Hazel laced her arms with ours and walked towards our house. I looked back at Nolan and he had my bag with him and he had a pout on his face. I chuckled and kept walking with the girls, I opened the front door and we walked in. I heard voices in the kitchen and we looked at each other.

"Who else do you think is here?" I heard Ashton's voice say as he and Nolan entered the house. He pulled me from the girls' grip and into his arms.

"Never steal my girl from me ever again." He said and squeezed me tight, I heard the girls laugh and Ashton groan.

"You have got to stop doing that." He whined, I laughed and Nolan released.

"Stop being such a baby, Ash. You'll find Miss Right someday, who knows, maybe she's just right there." I winked, he glared at me and I glanced at Paisley and saw she had a tint of pink on her cheeks. Yep, definitely something going on. Hazel looked at me with a confused look and I mouthed 'later', she nodded her head and I looked at Nolan.

"Can you bring my stuck upstairs, babe? We're gonna go to the kitchen to greet Mom." I asked, he smiled and nodded his head.

"Of course, baby. C'mon Ashton." He said and gave me a quick peck on my lips. Ashton also got Hazel's bag and they both went upstairs leaving me and the girls.

(A/N: Okay, so little disclaimer, if you haven't read the first book then this part onwards won't make any sense at all. In that case, I suggest you read the first book, thank you!)

"C'mon, let's go to the kitchen." I said, they nodded and we all made our way to the kitchen. When we got to the kitchen, I saw Mom talking to two people, but their back were to us. From behind, they look like grandma and grandpa, but they never mentioned coming over.

Mom noticed us and she looked up at us, she looked like she was crying yet she had a smile on her face.

"Ashley, you're home." She said, the pair turned to face us and it was grandma and grandpa, though they looked kind of different.

"Grandma? Grandpa? What are you guys doing here? You didn't mention you were coming over." I said and walked towards them, Mom faced the girls and gave them an apologetic smile.

"Girls, can you go get Ashton? We have a family matter to discuss." She said, Hazel and Paisley immediately nodded their heads and gave grandma and grandpa a smile before leaving the kitchen.

"Mom, what's going on?" I asked her, grandma and grandpa usually announce when they're coming over. Also, they're not usually this quiet.

A few seconds later, Ashton enters the kitchen. When be saw grandma and grandpa, he looked as confused as I am.

"Grandma? Grandpa?" He asked and then looked at Mom and then at me and I just shrugged. Mom took a deep breath and looked at the pair.

"Ashley, Ashton, this is Calvin and Lorraine." She said, wait, why do those names sound familiar? But, grandma's name is Lauren and grandpa's is Carter.

"Wait what? No, it's not. Their names are Carter and Lauren." Ashton said, the pair stood up and grandma had tears in her eyes.

"What the hell is going on, Mom?" I asked her, I'm getting frustrated because I don't know anything.

"We're your parents." Grandma said

Hold up

What?

"Excuse me?" I asked, what the hell?

"What are you talking about? Mom?" Ashton asked, Mom had tears in her eyes but she nodded her head.

"They were the ones we grew up with when we were younger. Carter and Lauren are my real parents and Calvin and Lorraine are yours. I thought they died in a car crash, because that's what the policemen told me." Mom explained, I felt tears build up in my eyes and I looked at the pair that were supposedly my parents.

I looked Ashton and he had a shock and hurt expression on his face. I grabbed his hand and he glanced at me and down at our hands, he squeezed my hand and looked back at our parents.

"Why? Why now?" He asked them

"We didn't know where to look for you guys, we tried going back to the house where we lived before the crash but you guys weren't there anymore. I think that was the time when you guys and Amanda moved in with the Matthews. We tried, believe us, we really tried." Calvin explained, the tears in my eyes fell and Ashton dropped my hand and wrapped his arm around my shoulder and rubbed my arm.

"What happened to you? How are you alive?" He asked them

"We were recovering in the hospital, I flatlined for a couple of minutes but they were able to bring me back. I don't know why you weren't informed about us, but we didn't die. Maybe it was the couple in the other car that died, but we don't really know." Lorraine explained furthermore, I leaned on Ashton for support because I was getting really lightheaded with all this sudden information.

"We understand that your intentions are good, but this is a lot of information to take in. My sister and I need time to process all this, just give us time to adjust." Ashton said, they both nodded their heads and Calvin looked at Mom.

"Maybe that's enough for today, Amanda." He said, Mom gave him a sad smile and nodded her head.

"We'll be heading out now, we're not rushing you guys or anything, we just wanna make up for lost time and actually be parents to both of you." Lorraine said, Ashton and I nodded our heads and they left the kitchen with Mom behind them. When they were out of sight, I broke down in Ashton's arms.

"Of all times, why did they have to come back now?" I asked him in between sobs, he rubbed my back and soothed my hair with the other hand.

"I don't know, Ash. I don't know, don't worry, everything will be fine." He said

"I love you" I mumbled in his chest, he wrapped both arms around me and gave me a squeeze.

"I love you too, Sis. It'll always be you and me agaisnt the world, remember?" He said, I smiled slightly and nodded my head.

"Of course, you and me, always." I said and sighed in satisfaction being in my brother's arms.
