Nolan's POV:

"He's worth all the bruises, Mom." I heard Ashley say to her Mom as she was looking into my eyes. I didn't know whether I heard it right or if my ears were deceiving me and so I leaned over to Dale and whispered in his ear.

"You heard that too right?" 

"Loud and clear" He whispered back, I couldn't stop the smile that was forming on my face. Ashley looked away from me and I could see the light shade of pink form on her cheeks. 

"Uhhh so when did the doctor say I can go home?" She asked completely changing the subject.

"Okay well umm your doctor said that you should be able to go home the day after tomorrow." Ma told her, I felt Ashton nudge me in the side and I just looked at him.

"Is there something between you and my sister that I should know about?" He asked, shit.

"Umm no there isn't." I said, he looked iffy but he nodded his head and turned back to Ashley. Dale then kicked my shin and I just glared at him.

"What?" I asked

"You like her." He said, I felt my eyes widen and I just looked around making sure no one heard him. I grabbed his arm and dragged him outside. 

"What did you just say?" I asked him 

"Ashley, you like her." He said all smug like, I narrowed my eyes at him and he just smirked. 

"I'm right, aren't I?" He asked

"So what if you are?" I asked him and crossed my arms over my chest.

"Nathan owes me 10 bucks then." He laughed

"Wait, you bet on this?" I asked him, this little sneak!

"Of course, it was clear as day that you like Ashley and that she likes you back. At least you already admitted it to yourself, Ashley's still in the denial stage. Nathan knew you liked her, but she thought that she didn't like you back, and so we made a bet." He said like it was no big deal whatsoever.

"How are you even sure that you won the bet?" I asked him 

"With what Ashley said a few minutes ago, it's clear that she like you just as much as you do." He said, my mouth dropped open as I stared at my little brother. Since when was he such a love expert?

"Close your mouth big bro, you'll catch flies." He said and walked back in the room.

Gosh, kids.

Ashley's POV:

Why? Why the hell did I have to say that? It just seriously came out, I mean I don't even know if  I meant it. Did I? No, I don't. But, what if I do? I pushed the thoughts away and saw that Nolan and Dale walked out. Ashton looked over at me and raised an eyebrow at me.

"What?" I asked him

"Is there something I should know about?" He asked

"About what?" I asked 

"About you and Nolan." I started choking on air and felt Mom and Dad rub my back.

"Pardon me?" I asked

"Is there something between you and Nolan?" He asked crossing his arms over his chest.

"No, obviously not. Why do you ask?" I asked him, he sighed in relief and plopped down on the couch.

"No reason, just asking." He said and placed his hands behind his head. A few minutes later, Dale walked back in with a victorious smile on his face. He walked over to Nathan and whispered something in his ear which made him groan.

"What's up with you?" Dad asked Nathan

"Just a stupid bet." He replied and glared at me.

"Hey, what did I do?" I asked him

"Nothing, it was just something about someone" He said and slapped 10 bucks in Dale's hand.

"You guys bet on something?" Mom asked, Nathan grumbled and nodded his head while Dale was all smiles.

"Yeah, and I won." Dale bragged and waved the 10 bucks in Nathan's face. 

"I swear to God, you guys are so weird." Ashton laughed, Nolan walked back in the room and he just glared at Dale. What is with everyone being mad at Dale? The poor kid.

"Okay, what's up with you guys?" I asked them, they all looked at me and then looked at each other. Then, Nolan looked at me.

"It's nothing, Le Le. Just a little bet these guys made a stupid bet about me." He said, I tried ignoring eye contact but then failed. As soon as I made eye contact, I melted right there and then. What the hell is happening to me? Did I hit my head when I passed out? Why am I all of a sudden swooning over Nolan? 

"Yeah, and this isn't awkward at all." Dale said, Nathan punched him in the shoulder and glared at him.

"Dingwit" He replied and rubbed his shoulder, Nathan just rolled his eyes in response.

"What was the bet about anyway?" Ashton asked Nolan, Nolan looked at the two kids and it seemed like they were having a conversation with their eyes.

"It was about a girl, I bet that the girl he likes likes him back, and Nathan said that she wouldn't like him back because he's such a dick." Dale explained, Mom gasped and slapped his mouth.

"Dale! You're not supposed to say that word." Mom scolded, Dale rubbed his mouth and glared at everyone.

"What's with everyone hitting me today? Golly." He said, my thoughts then drifted to the bet. Dale said that he bet that the girl that Nolan likes, likes him back. He won, meaning that the girl really does like him back. 

Well there goes his swoon worthiness.

"Hey pumpkin, what you thinking about?" Dad whispered to me as everyone else started to talk amongst themselves.

"Dad, how do you know when you like someone?" I asked, he raised an eyebrow at me and sighed.

"Well it depends, who do you think you like?" He asked, I slumped in bed and groaned.

"It sucks that you know me so well." I said, he chuckled and grabbed my hand.

"So who's the lucky guy, pumpkin?" He asked, I sighed and looked over at Nolan who was currently talking to Ashton. 

"It's Nolan, Daddy. I don't know if I like him. He's such a jerk and a dick sometimes that it just makes me want to throw him in the garbage and send him to the dump. But, sometimes he's such a sweetheart and I just don't know what to do anymore." I said and crossed my arms over my chest.

"I knew it! I was so right." He said 

"What?" I asked 

"Oh well I thought that you liked Nolan while your mother thought that you liked Matt." He said, Matt?

"Excuse me?" 

"Yeah, you heard me right. I knew right from the beginning, when we moved here. I just had a feeling, kinda like a hunch that you and Nolan would end up together one day." He shrugged, I looked at him as if he just stole the last pizza in the box.

"How though?" I asked him 

"I just had a hunch, it was kinda like how I met your mother." He said, I titled my head in confusion and he just smiled. 

"Did your mom ever tell you how she and I met?" He asked, I frowned and shook my head.

"Okay, well we were in 2nd grade. There was this girl that was trying to steal your mom's cookie, and me being the kind kid I am, I helped her out. But, the other girl got ahold of her cookie and stomped on it making your mother cry. I didn't know what to do, I was looking around trying to figure out how to calm down a crying little girl, but then I remembered that my Mom packed me a chocolate chip cookie for break, and so I gave it to her. Ever since that day, your Mom and I were inseparable, until our Freshman year that is." He said frowning at the end.

"So how does this relate to Nolan and I?" I asked him 

"Well pumpkin, what I'm trying to say is; It may sound cliche as shit, but the very first time I laid eyes on your mother, I fell completely in love with her. I just knew that she was the girl that I was gonna love my entire life, I knew that she was the girl that was gonna give me kids and make me the happiest man on earth." He explained, he took my hand in his and caressed the back of my hand with his thumb.

"I'm telling you this because I saw the look that Nolan had in his eyes when he first saw you, I saw complete determination and adoration. I saw that he was determined to get to know you more and that you already had his wrapped around your finger from the very first meeting. What do you feel when you see him, pumpkin?" He asked, my heart soared knowing that I sorta have a chance with Nolan. I may sound like a total pussy, but I've waited for this moment since Freshman year, so give me a fucking break.

"I feel like I don't ever want him to leave me, Daddy. But, whenever I see him with those girls, it breaks my heart into a million pieces. I don't want to get hurt." I said

"You never know unless you give him a chance, pumpkin." He said 

"But Dad, Ashton would never approve of us dating. He made some ground rules, and that includes that Nolan wasn't allowed to date me." I said, he raised and eyebrow and laughed.

"Did they sign a contract?" He asked

"Not that I know of." I said 

"Well then it's not official, pumpkin. Besides, that was probably back when they were in their Freshman year, it's probably forgotten by now." He assured 

"But I still don't know, Dad. Do I like him or not?" I asked him 

"Only you can answer that, pumpkin." He said and kissed my forehead. I leaned back and looked at Nolan to see him now talking to Nathan and Dale. He was laughing at a pouting Dale and Nathan and realisation hit me like a ton of brick.
