I hugged my knees as I sat outside in the cold air. Miu had been executed for her crimes but even that didn't make me feel any better. Gonta was still dead. That kind and gentle soal had died for my sake..

"hic" I let a soft sob escape my body. I haven't cried much during this killing time. Being a remnant I was used to death and dispair but gontas death hit differently. He was right in front of me. I could have stopped it. I let him die and now the guilt is eating me up inside!

"kokichi" I looked up to see kaitos conserned face "hey what's wrong?"

"it's gonta!" I sobbed "he's dead and it's all my fault!"

"what are you talking about?" he took a seat next to me "miu killed gonta not you!"

"yeah but I was her intended victim. It should have been me not gonta!"

"hey don't go around saying stupid things!" kaito yelled, making me jump "miu is the only one responsible for gontas death. No one else! You think you're responsible just cause you didn't die? And here I was thinking you were the smart one!"

I stared at him. He has such a simple way of thinking and yet he's totally right. Blaming myself for something I couldn't control is just stupid. I have to move on.

"thank you kai-" I was cut off by him pulling me in for a kiss! I was stunned. Even after he pulled away I couldn't say a word.

"sorry about that" kaito scratched the back of his head sheepishly "it's just with the stars out it was kinda romantic don't you think?"

"y-yeah" I nodded before leaning towards him "can we do it again?"

He seemed surprised by my question but quickly hid it with a smile "oh sure thing sidekick!"

He gently pulled me into a Kiss. I could feel fireworks going off in my mind. Chiaki often told me how wonderful love could be but I never really understood what she meant until now.

I wonder, would she be happy for me?
