Chapter 24. Wayzz
Trixx's POV
NO.
Then he disappeared, engulfed in the big black mess. Without thinking, I immediately dove into it with him, my hands desperately clawing for him as a shiver ran down my spine. My throat was suffocating, as if someone was choking me slowly and I could feel my blood being stifled. I froze, unable to do anything, my mouth gaping in pain.
Then I was sucked into nihilism.
I gasped in air, relieved I was still alive.
Then I felt myself being choked again.
I couldn't tear my eyes away from the gigantic ball of green flames erupting in the core of the nihilism. The pitch black darkness seemed to swirl around the mass of emerald, avoiding it, fearful of it.
"The core," I whispered. I swam forward, ignoring the blazing heat, trying to get closer to Wayzz.
A ripple of emotions shot through me. It was short-lived but I felt everything I had to. Pain. Agony. Regret. Sorrow. And last but not the least, madness. It channeled me to the point of destroying my physical.
"You think you can save him?" whispered a raspy voice that echoed in my mind.
"You think I can't?" I choked out, clutching my throat desperately. "Let me remind you, I'm Trixx. Nothing has ever stopped me before."
"And this is Wayzz," crackled the nightmare. "The untouchable."
"Shut all your holes before I shove a sword in them," I growled. "I am getting back my Wayzz, whatever it takes. Without him, there's no point in life."
It was a risk, of course. If I lost here, I don't have an essence to retract. Both of our essence would collide and probably explode away. But you know the bright side? I would still be with Wayzz. And that's what it counts for me.
I heard Wayzz's scream as the mass of darkness increased.
"Let him go!" I yelled through the thick air as I lunged myself into the core. A million different memories hit me all at once, a flash of traumas and significant memories rippling through my veins in a split second. I gulped as I dug deeper into the black ball of darkness.
"You think he would be happy with you?" the serpent whispered again.
"I can assure you, I would give him beyond happiness," I said, my voice cracking and tears streaming. "At least, I wish."
"You're selfish. You only want him for your own happiness."
"No, I don't, Iㅡ"
"Admit it, you do. You are more cunning than most humans yet more clumsy. The worst combination of a Kwami, don't you think? You're like a dysfunctional one. A mistake."
"So what?" I growled angrily. "Wayzz still deserves to live."
"Sweetie, he chose this path. He knew he couldn't change it. You should know fate more than anyone else, yours tied yourself to be hateful and deceiving."
I paused, my head spinning.
Then with a determined glint, I lashed out deeper into the core. "If that's what fate is, I choose to abandon it," I snarled. I felt warm flesh at my finger tips and instantly knew it was Wayzz. I wrapped my hand around his and pulled as hard as I can.
"Let him go," it hissed angrily. "Let me go."
"No," I grimaced as I pulled Wayzz out of the mass. Immediately, everything whizzed out of control and I felt myself being flitted back and forth between dimensions in the two seconds.
Thud!
Ow. Ow. Ow.
"Trixx?"
I looked around to see Tikki staring up at me, worried. Adrien, Marinette, Alya . . . everyone was there, surrounding me. I sucked in air as I scanned the area. This wasn't my essence. Or Wayzz's. It was the mortal world.
Sudden fear struck me.
"Tikki," I raspily asked. "What happened? Please tell me that we actually went through my essence and to Wayzz's." I couldn't bear the thought that it was all my delusional imagination.
"We did," Plagg interrupted. "And if I remember correctly, I owe him a punch in the face." He looked annoyed, but it didn't kill his sarcasm. "Where is Wayzz, anyways? Did you bring him out?"
Yes, that's my question.
I looked around, puzzled. I was sure I had brought him out. I had clung onto as tightly as possible until Tikki woke me up.
"Where is he?" I jumped up.
"Here," whispered an anger-suppressed voice.
I flung around to the shadows were a figure trotted out, breathing heavily, leaning against the walls for support. It was Wayzz, definitely him. His exhausted but twinkling emerald eyes, his ruffled green hair, and the arrogant stance. His aura was what startled me. Powerful yet exposed at the same time.
"Wayzz!" I cried as tears brimmed my eyes again.
"Trixx," Wayzz said, his voice painfully restrained. He held up a hand before I could tackle him down into a mighty bear hug.
I stared at him cautiously. His expression was of a sick child's, his insides churning wildly and his head spinning with an intolerable headache. I could just feel it off him; he was fighting.
Then his pupils dilated, glowing dangerously. Then without hesitation, he lunged at me, a dagger already summoned.
"Trixx!"
I was pinned down in a moment. My hands were curled around the butt of the dagger, gritting my teeth. It was inches away from my throat, ready to slit it. I looked up at Wayzz.
"Wayzz, what's wrong?"

Wayzz's POV (I know it's been forever!)
I have to kill Trixx. I have to kill Trixx.
"Wayzz, what the plague is wrong with you?"
I blinked as I saw Plagg glaring into me, both of his hands on my shoulder. I inhaled deeply as I noticed the dagger in my hands, glowing green, patterned with beautiful jade carvings. I immediately perished it, confused and puzzled.
"What?" I asked, even when I knew for myself what I tried to do.
Plagg took a step back, uncertainty flashing across his green orbs.
"You just tried to kill Trixx," Nino said. I turned to him. He looked so different from the last I've seen him. I saw fear embedded in his every movement and I stopped myself from stumbling towards him.
"What?" I repeated myself, just to check if my voice wasn't a serpent's.
Trixx staggered up, touching her throat. She was the only one in this squad that wasn't horror-struck or with fear flashing across her eyes. Instead, she seemed more to the happy side. I don't get what she was happy about, I was going to kill her.
"It's the black mass!" Adrien shrilled. "It's controlling Wayzz!"
The sad part was that he was wrong.
"I'll protect you, Nino!" Alya shrieked as she patted Nino as he ducked behind her. "This isn't Wayzz's essence, we can fight him off if we all combine powers!"
"Guys, waitㅡ" I started.
"Shut up!" Alya fumed. "I do not listen to your honey-coated words of evil and sinister darkness, you traumatic nightmare of Wayzz!"
"I'm Wayzz!" I protested. Then I instantly regretted raising my voice because I already felt some inner shadow lurking up my throat. I gave a lengthy sigh as I clutched my head.
"Wayzz is fighting!" Adrien cheered. "Win, Wayzz!"
"I'm not a nightmare!" I hissed. "I'm not the nightmare either! I am Wayzz."
"He's right," Trixx said, solemnly. She slowly approached me, her pigtails flinging behind her like a graceful scarf. "This is Wayzz. The one and only Wayzz, the one that has succeeded in conquering his nightmares."
"That's Wayzz?" Marinette whimpered, scared.
"Yes, this is me!" I angrily yelled, smashing a wall beside me. This time it wasn't because Trixx channeled her emotions through me. It was because it was me.
I stared at my fist.
"And," Plagg added, "this is the Wayzz that got rid of his shielding mask along with his nightmares."
Then something hit me. An impulse that I couldn't resist. I immediately swatted Trixx's hand away from my shoulder and kicked her in the shin, sending her sprawling to the back. I breathed heavily, clenching my fists so hard the nail dug into my flesh, drawing blood.
"No," I cried. "I haven't succeeded in conquering my nightmares."
With that, I slammed both fists into the pavement. A strip of cement shot through the air as I felt myself drain of all emotions. I trembled with fury. I didn't know where this rage was coming from. But I knew it was all directed to one person.
Trixx.
"Wayzz!" her voice rang.
"DON'T COME TO ME!" I roared as I watched my blood-covered fist.
"This is the real Wayzz?" Marinette asked.
Fear was everywhere.
I should've stayed in my essence. If I had stayed, I would've had had to kill Marinette off to reality, or anyone, really. I wouldn't be fighting such a pathetic battle in reality, where harm was too real. And I wouldn't have to see Trixx, all desperate and loving.
I should've never loved Trixx.
But it's just too hard, you know?
"Wayzz," Trixx whispered. She wrapped her hands around my bleeding ones. Her hands were warm. "You can do this. I believe in you. And I love you."
I felt my whole body shaking vibrantly.
"Trixx," I said, my voice barely audible. "Please, get out of here. I don't want to kill you."
"I know," Trixx softly said. Her finger tips touched my cheeks. "You have to win this Wayzz. I will always be here."
I have to kill her. I have to kill her.
I raised a trembling hand as I unwillingly summoned a long, narrow spear. It was glowing red, sparking with electricity and overwhelming power. I raised it, ready to kill Trixx.
What am I doing?
"Trixx, move out!" I screamed as I thrust it down, narrowly missing her my an inch.
"Trixx!" Tikki yelled as she yanked Trixx off. "We have to get you out of Wayzz's sight. We can come back for him later."
"Plagg," I begged as I felt myself stringing a magical arrow, aimed at Trixx's head. "Please, get everyone out of here before I accidentally kill someone." I saw the arrow whizz through the air, struck at a section of the wall were Trixx's head was.
"Copy that," Plagg curtly nodded as he uneasily moved away from me.
"And one more," I said in a weak, desperate voice. My uncontrollable body was already throwing knives in every direction possible. Blood trickled down from my forehead where I tried to stop myself by smashing myself against the rigid wall.
"What?" Plagg asked, his eyes desperately trying to mask his fear. But I knew him too well.
"Kill me."
"What?"
"KILL ME!" I came down thrusting another blade at Trixx's direction.
"NO!" Trixx pushed Plagg away as she stood in front of me. Her eyes were wild and full of bursting flames. "You're not going to die on me, Wayzz!" She stood inches away from me.
It took all my willpower to not kill her that moment. My hands were already smoldering with green flames. It was curled around her neck. I tried my best but all I could do was stop myself from squeezing.
"Wayzz," Trixx started. I squeezed my eyes shut. "I know whatever that happens in the next five minutes, you are not responsible for it. It's not easy being free and knowing your fate. But I know you can change it, Wayzz. I know you can."
"Trixx . . . please," I wheezed out. My hands were shaking so hard.
"It's alright, Wayzz, you can kill me," Trixx said and I could already see her bitter smile. "But I won't let you die on me. After everything we've been through, I should die, not you. It'll take me a little longer than usual to reform . . . but I'll be back, you know that, right?"
I felt her hand stroke my hair.
"I'm delusional and a crazed psychopathic programmed to kill you," I harshly breathed. "You don't want to be with me, Trixx."
"I love you, Wayzz," Trixx declared.
"I know," I weakly sighed. "I love you too butㅡ"
But I was cut off by her lips, locking against mine. I immediately melted at her toxic touch. Delicious chills were sent down as I felt myself falling apart slowly. More like clicking into the place I was meant to be.
We broke apart just to breath.
"And nothing's going to stop us, okay? If you die, I die. If I die, you die. We're in this together," Trixx firmly said.
Together.
The word spread a blossoming warmth in my heart.
"Ship ship ship," Marinette and Alya started chanting.
That's when I noticed than my hands were not wrapped around Trixx's neck but in her hands instead. She was beaming, smiling with the widest grin. She looked so stupid.
"You know you look stupid, right?" I laughed.
"Like you don't?" Trixx grinned.
"Stop it," I cringed as I felt the blood in my veins rush with alacrity. I could feel the impulse hitting me all over again but for some reason, I stood perfectly still. Not a single muscle twitched without my permission.
"When you are willing to protect your beloved, your mental is stronger than ever," Master Fu's voice rang out in his voice like a melody.
"Master Fu!" Marinette chirped.
I turned around with a smile to see the Guardian. Master Fu stood there, smiling. After a few nods exchanged, he turned around promptly and started walking down the aisle, humming himself the new Demi Lovato song.
"Can I go home? I have been pretty useless," Nino blinked, yawning.
"I'll walk you home," Alya offered as she dragged him off.
"See you later, Plagg!" Adrien cried as he started walking off with Marinette. His inner Chat was coming off too much, honestly. How has Plagg been training him?
After a few moments of silence, Plagg opened his mouth. "You probably already know but I was scaredㅡ"
"It's alright," I cut him off with a warm smile. "Fear isn't an ally anyways." I was scared too. I was scared I might get wired up again and try to stab Trixx once more. But for some reason, it oddly relieved. That I wasn't ordinary, predictable, or fake. It was me.
Plagg smirked, relieved.
"You guys are so cute," Tikki commented as she stepped up. "And I forgot to apologizeㅡ"
"It's also alright," I smiled. "Emotions are always tough." I was sure I would never be able befriend the emotions churning in my heart. But at least I had a short in not being enemies with it. Perhaps frenemies. Perhaps.
"Thanks," Tikki mouthed as she looped an arm around Plagg. "See you later, both of you."
Then both of them trotted off.
"How you up for a cup of green tea?" I asked Trixx, who latched herself to my arm and was determined not to let go. She seemed so happy beyond description.
"You know I'm not a green tea sort of girl," Trixx rolled her eyes. "Always Espresso."
"If you say so," I smiled.
We walked into the darkness of Paris, hand-in-hand.
It was like waking up from a long nightmare. Nothing was sure. Everything was unstable. But the fact that Trixx would be with me through all storms and explosion was enough. She was all I needed in the first place.
FINALLYYYYY
