Chapter 23. Corrupted
Trixx's POV
I blinked just in time to see Plagg almost get stabbed. Then his name slipped out. Then Wayzz turned around, his eyes wild with indescribable emotions, all blazing.
"We didn't kill him," I said as I tried to fight away the shackles.
"Oh yes you did," he laughed. I couldn't do anything. "You said it yourself. Pushed him off the cliff into the pool of his own nightmares."
Marinette whimpered behind me. I had to get everyone out of here.
Plagg stiffened and stood up, clutching his bleeding arm. "Wayzz," he cried. "Get that thing out of your body."
"You know what it feels to be cursed," Wayzz screamed in a raspy voice. A disfigured monster's hand shot out from behind Wayzz's body and clawed the ground. Green murky liquid burst from the floor. "Underappreciated. Deserted. Abandoned. But I had more than you. Looked-up-to. Anticipated."
There was an ear-splitting howl, I flinched. I produced a smoking violet knife and stabbed through the shackles. Another round of whimpers aroused. But it wasn't from Marinette, it was from Wayzz.
"You're killing me, sweetie," he whispered. The bright green eyes stared at me in a psychopathic way. "Like you did to yourself."
I ripped off Marinette's chains. "I want my Wayzz back." Nino. Alya. Adrien. Lastly Tikki.
"Too late." A spike of black fumes shot out. I immediately dodged away from its pointed attacks. It was an obvious card, I could easily jump out of something so expected like that.
"N-No."
That's when I realized my mistake.
"Marinette!" I flung around, eyes widened. Marinette gasped as a stream of blood gushed out from the center of her heart where she got stabbed. Wayzz laughed. Her trembling hands touched her bleeding flesh for a moment. Then she collapsed, her bod perishing into a million dust flakes.
"What did you do to her?" Adrien yelled in anger, tears welling in his eyes.
"Relax," whispered Wayzz. "I'm sending her back to reality." Another crackling laughter.
Adrien wiped his eyes before lunging forward, his fists clenched. I knew what was going to happen. I lurched forward, grabbed his arm and pushed him away narrowly to miss the blow of angry flames.
"Tsk, tsk. Always getting into people's ways, I see," Wayzz muttered.
Tikki helped me up.
"If you're going to send them back, send them the right way," I snarled. I grabbed Adrien and pushed him into the gaping portal. He screamed.
"Trixx?" Tikki asked.
"It's too late for me. Save yourselves," I warned as I kicked Nino into the portal and pushed off Alya. Her eyes were desperately concerned about me. I returned a smile.
Then the portal sealed immediately.
I turned to Wayzz.
"I wanted to put Tikki and Plagg as well," I grumbled.
"Trixx, my dear, you fool no one," Wayzz smiled. "You can't banish your friends away like that. That's what Wayzz the wise dude does. Taking the role doesn't make you less guilty, my darling."
I almost choked on the spot. But I had to drive off my emotions if I wanted to win this game. I truly knew what Wayzz felt like for the first time; feeling no emotions. I was weeping on the floor and crying his name out from sadness. I had to get rid of that.
"I-I don't know what to say," I whispered, lost. I stared at Wayzz, completely corrupted and definitely dark. I can't save him. Not when he's like that.
"Wayzz," Plagg hoarsely said, struggling up, his hands wrapped around the dagger. "I'm not leaving this place without you."
My heart turned warm at the proclamation. Can I be more like Plagg please?
"I'm sorry," Wayzz smiled. "I don't see that happening."
Then just as Plagg took another step, Wayzz lurched forward and stabbed him with a narrow black lance. Plagg choked for an instant, blood dripping from his lips. Then he clutched his chest, falling to the ground. The lance melted into a pool of black blood.
"Plagg!" Tikki cried, tears streaming down her face. I cannot imagine the pain both of them are going through. But I stood frozen there, watching.
"Wayzz, you're going to regret this one day," Plagg whispered, his head resting in Tikki's arms.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I threw regret out the window a long time ago," Wayzz snickered. "Or . . . do you want your girlfriend to go the same way as well?"
Plagg flinched. Then her grabbed Tikki's hand. "Get Wayzz to cut his crap out. I'll be waiting in Paris." And he smiled for the final time before his body disintegrated and vanished. Tikki stroked his hair lastly.
"Now we have two psychopathic girls, how nice," Wayzz drawled.
Tikki marched up and slapped his face.
I blinked at her.
"Y-You son of a mom," Tikki breathed, anger lashing out inside her. "Plagg went through immense measures trying to save you. And Trixx loved you. Do you hear that, you hell-bound monster? She loved you."
I flickered back that moment.
"Tikki," I cried, reaching out to touch her arm. But she swatted me away.
"Do you know what love is?" Tikki continued. "Trixx was willing to die for you. Trixx was willing to kill for you. She might've been a disaster but all she wanted to do was be with you. Is that too much?"
Wayzz growled, rubbing his reddened cheek.
"And you wanna know something more? She still loves you," Tikki screamed. "She is still willing to do all those chaotic things just for you." Her voice was near begging now. "Wayzz, please. Come back. Not for me. But for herㅡ"
Hiss!
With that, Tikki perished into a pile of dust, pierced by another lance.
"It's just you and me now," Wayzz said huskily as he brushed his hands together, as if he touched something filthy. His eyes blazed through me. "What do you want, sweetheart?"
"I-I," I stuttered, paralyzed. What did I want? I wanted to turn back time before everything happened. I just don't know when 'everything' happened.
"I won't hurt you," Wayzz sneered. "If you go the easy way."
With that, the floor beneath me disappeared and for a moment I was plummeting through the air. But I clutched instinctively to the edge of the ground and hauled myself up, grunting.
"You want the hard way?" Wayzz's eyes flickered as he summoned a barrow black blade, glistening against whatever light it was shining against. Then he swiveled it around, approaching me.
I glared at him.
"Trixx, you're going off and on with me," Wayzz laughed. "You can't keep yourself focused with one emotion, how do you expect to bring me down? Even Tikki couldn't, and she's an emotion master."
I blankly stared at him. Nothing was registering into my head right now. All I can remember is snaps of memories that actually stuck in my head, not a continuing flow of events.
You can do this Trixx.
My name is Trixx. I'm a Kwami. I recently shovelled out my darkest memories and witnessed Wayzz turn corrupt as I announced my everlasting love for him. Then I opened his essence through his heartㅡ
His heart.
Yeah, I forgot about that.
"Looking ditzy, Trixx, you sure you wanna stay in my realm?" Wayzz laughed.
Focus, Trixx. Focus.
I met Wayzz. No. That's not Wayzz, that's the nightmare emotions inside him. I saw the real Wayzz for a split second before he got completely possessed. And then he killed Marinette and I sent every mortal back to reality. And eventually Tikki and Plagg followed.
Wait.
Possessed.
I opened my eyes just enough to memorize Wayzz's face before closing them again.
"I got all day, Trixx."
Focus.
That isn't Wayzz. If I killed that disgusting thing, what would happen to Wayzz? Would he be saved or would he be killed along in the process?
Rewind again.
This is Wayzz's essence, he can't die.
My eyes snapped open, channeled with determination once more. It was like me snapping out of a distant, strange dream. I looked at Wayzzㅡno, that thingㅡfeeling absolutely nothing but negative powers churning inside me.
That isn't Wayzz.
I can kill him.
I lunged forward, my nails scratching against his flesh as I yanked his collar and sent him sprawling into the ground. Without blinking, I smashed my feet into his gut at the sametime my fist made contact with his shoulder.
I was unstoppable.
"You're hurting me," the thing whined playfully.
My eyes flashed a vibrant anger as I pulled his hair and leaned forward, glaring straight into his eyes for a still moment. His breath tickled my cheeks. Our noses almost touched.
"You're not Wayzz," I whispered. "My Wayzz isn't this monster he thinks he is."
The thing in Wayzz licked his bleeding lower lip before answering, "You're wrong, love. I am everything Wayzz was hiding. I am him. I am his inner conflict. I am what you made me."
"No," I replied before smashing my head into his. There goes my skull and brain cells. The sound of two coconuts banging together was so powerful that I thought I was going to knock out for a moment.
"Give up, loser," the thing cackled. "You love Wayzz. You know that he will never ever love you back. He's too good for you, you know? And you've seen all the pain you drove him to. If you want to end his pain, just disappear."
My heart ached so hard.
"Hey," the thing smiled. It looked like Wayzz, vibrant emerald eyes, receded green hair. But it wasn't Wayzz. "I'll love you back. I'll love you like Wayzz will never."
I paused. What?
"I'm Wayzz as well," it said. "I'm basically what makes 99% of him. You fell in love with all of me and that 1%. I'm basically a package deal of Wayzz. I will love you. I will lust for you. Isn't that a pretty deal?" A finger reached out and cupped my chin.
There was a beat.
"No," I shook my head. "I'm in love with all of him, correct. But you're not him."
"You are an idiot," the thing shrilled as it summoned a spear to pierce my body.
I laughed. I reached out my opened hand. A clear emerald crystal appeared. The once empty inside was now filled with black fumes, swirling and churning inside. It was Wayzz's fragment of his heart.
The Wayzz flinched for a second.
This was the safety chain Master Fu made.
"You can't kill Wayzz," I voiced my thoughts. "And as long as I have a piece of Wayzz with me, you can never ever kill me." With that I hysterical laughed like a mad person. Maybe I was.
A sudden chill was sent down my spine. I immediately jumped back, startled as I stared at Wayzz. The weird nightmare mass jumped out of his body, now standing as webs of murky black substance tied them together, Wayzz in the middle.
"I can hurt him," the nightmare laughed. "Like no one can. You want to do that to him, babe?"
I stared at Wayzz. The real one, looking so painful and so depressed. His once-sparkling green eyes held nothing but absolute despair. His lips kept mouthing one word: Trixx. My name.
"No," I slowly said. My bottled up emotions were being released again. Tears welled up in my eyes as I crumbled to the ground. "No."
Wayzz was in a never-ending loop of pain and despair.
That one fact crushed my heart and grinded the little splinters and shards. I screamed as I punched the ground as hard as I can. I did it again and again until my fists were numb and my clothes were blood-stained.
"Trixx, don't do it."
Wayzz.
I looked up.
"Don't become me," he smiled ever so bittersweetly. It was as if he had resigned to his fate already. No. He can't. Not so easily. Not when I just figured everything out. Not when I loved him.
The black tangled started creeping on him again, slowly engulfing him.
"No," I whimpered as I stood up and limped towards him. My cold hands touched his cheeks and I pressed my forehead against his. His eyes were filled with smoldering flames that would never go out. "Please, Wayzz. No."
I wish it was Tangled. My magic tears touch his cheek and miraculously everything is restored. But life isn't a fairy tale. So when my tears wetted his sleeves and collar, nothing happened except for pain.
Wayzz's hands were already chained down by the black curse. But he leaned forward and kissed me, a tender soft contact. It was so caring, so loving.
I stood there, tears streaming down my face, shock written all over.
"I loved you too," Wayzz whispered. "I knew I shouldn't but I did love you. You are stunning Trixx. Don't waste it on me."
"No," I cried.
"I still do," Wayzz continued as his hair turned pitch black. His green eyes flashed red.
Wayzz. No.
"Get out of my essence and take care of Nino for me."
No. No. NO.
"I wish we met in a different universe."
WAYZZ.
"I love you."
NO. NO. NO.
I drawl too much honestly. But then, it's kinda my specialty. I promise the next update will hopefully be faster! :))))))
