Chapter 18. WHAT
Alya's POV
"Ooh, Nino, let me introduce you my Kwami," I squealed as I grabbed him and dragged him to a shady corner of the school. "This is Trixx, you probably know her."
Nino blinked, waves of shock lapping into his face. I laughed.
"Hi," Trixx raised a hand before crossing her arms. "And congratulations, that was one dense movie I was watching." She patted me on the shoulder.
"Oh, um, thanks," he smiled weakly. "I guess this explains all the tension you have between Wayzz. You're the Trixx he's been talking about."
I blinked questioningly.
"Wayne is Wayzz," Trixx shrugged. "Just asking, why isn't here at school today?"
I paused, realizing that WayneㅡI mean, Wayzzㅡhaven't come to classes either. I haven't really noticed it, since I was usually around Trixx and he usually avoided her. But with the confused look on Nino, I knew that he actually hadn't come to school.
Okay rewind my thoughts I need to do some freaking out first.
"Wayne is Wayzz?" I shrieked. "And no one told me about it?"
Trixx waved her hands. "There are a lot of things humans don't know."
I mumbled sullenly, "Next thing I know I'm probably gonna see Ladybug."
"I think he's taking a break," Nino shrugged nonchalantly.
"But he transformed you," Trixx asked.
"Yeah, he did," Nino answered. "But at the same time, he didn't; it was more like a independant magical thing. He didn't appear out of the charm when I de-transformed." He seemed proud of himself.
"Okay, thanks," Trixx mumbled before brushing past both of us.
"What was that?" I asked him.
"Awkwardness in human form," he replied back, rolling his eyes.
"But at least you're my awkwardness in human form," I giggled before looping my arms around his, smiling brightly.

Trixx's POV
Idiot. Idiot. Idiot. Idiot.
"I haven't seen him," Plagg offered. "You're talking about Wayzz, right?"
"I talked to him yesterday," I said, stabbing the water. "It was like it was a whole another Kwami, you know? Like he actually apologized for whatever he did. It's like something's taken over him."
"Wayzz? What did he apologize for?" Tikki tilted her head. "As far as I know, I don't think he did anything wrong."
"He was being fake!" I cried, frustrated. "He was hiding from me! And I was mad!"
Tikki shrugged nonchalantly. I was losing this argument. What was wrong with her these days? She became . . . psychotic or something.
"TIKKI!" I yelled. "That's just another way of saying that I'm responsible for everything, right? I was supposed to be the 'wrong one' and Wayzz is the 'right one'. You know what? Life doesn't work that way, Kwamis change!"
"Wayzz doesn't," Tikki mumbled, avoiding my eyes.
"Are you serious?" I gasped. "You really think Wayzz can be the perfect Kwami all the time? He has his own flaws too and don't frame me responsible for them. I didn't make him help me in Hiroshima. I didn't make him join me to come to the mortal world. I didn't make him do anything!"
Tikki mumbled something I couldn't hear.
"What did you say?" I breathed.
"N-Nothing," Tikki quickly quipped. "I didn't mean to offend you Trixx, I-I justㅡ"
"Say it," I dared her, my violet eyes flaming with ignition, burning with anger.
Tikki's confidence faltered. She opened her mouth and stammered, "I-I was just thinking that if you weren't there, Wayzz wouldn't have had to fall into the mess . . ." Her voice trailed away with fear.
"Excuse me, Tikki," I cried. "I didn't make him fall into the mess. But you know what?" I slammed my fork on the table, grabbed the cup of water in my hands. "I'm not taking this kind of treatment anymore. I'm not going to be standing here and let my reputation plummet just because I was friends with Wayzz. I'm innocent."
With that, I angrily threw the cup on the table, smashing it into little splinters and shards of glass; water splashing everywhere.
"You think what you did to me," I growled in Tikki's ear. "And you think what you did to Wayzz."
I glanced at Alya once, shooting her a reassuring look, patted Nino on the way out, and then stormed out of the cafeteria. I ignored everyone's eyes on me. Who cares?
Standing next to Wayzz made me look smaller.
Well then better bring my high heels.

"I'm not taking lies for an answer so better spill," I snarled as I barged open the little chinese home and plopped down on the floor.
Master Fu peacefully sipped his green tea. He placed down the little china set and smiled at me with a generous look. "Oh, hello, Trixx," he smiled, his eyes wrinkling. I'm almost feeling bad for what I was going to do to him.
"Where is Wayzz?" I calmly answered first.
"He's taking a break," Master Fu evenly replied, taking another sip.
"I'm serious! That guy holds all of the answers to my questions," I said, my eyebrows twitching angrily. "I need him. Right now. Why did he disappear anyways? To run away from me?"
Master Fu calmly put the teacup down slowly. "You want some? They're nice for anger-issues," he said, handing me a cup of warm liquid.
"Thanks," I shrugged. I gripped the teacup so hard that it shattered into little splinters of china. "Where's Wayzz? You know you can't keep avoiding me. I need to talk to him. You know he's been acting really strange."
"The strange in him is exactly what you wanted," Master Fu mused, taking another long, deliberate sip.
"That monster is Wayzz? I'm not believing that," I smiled crookedly. "I will know real Wayzz when I see him. Until then, I don't need deceivery enveloping me."
"Trixx, you know I can't grant your wish," Master Fu cried calmly.
"You should," I insisted. "You granted Wayzz's. Why not mine? We're both the same Kwami. Is it because he's special?"
"He's different," Master Fu amended. "You are all unique."
"THEN TELL ME!" I screamed as a wave of magic rippled out from me, knocking out all the furnitures and mishappening all the patterns on the yellowed wallpaper. The air glowed in a holographic tinge, wavering. "WHERE IS WAYZZ?"
"I can't say," Master Fu said. "I promised."
"Please," I begged. "Master Fu, where is Wayzz? I need him. I really need him. I need to know why he acted the way he did. I can't bare to live without knowing it."
Master Fu shook his head defiantly.
I snarled angrily before smashing the wall and creating a dent on the wall. "If you don't tell me I'm going to tear myself apart, limb by limb," I threatened. I glared at his eyes, glinting with anger and emotion. "And you I will do it when I say it."
A look exchanged between us. Master Fu sighed.
"But before I tell you, it's no one's fault," he explained. "And it won't be."
"Just tell me the story," I urged him.
"Wayzz isn't a normal Kwami. Being the chief Kwami that accompanies the Guardian and inflicts most influence against his hero, he was created with the biggest side-effect," Master Fu calmly said, his eyes saddened as if it was an inevitable destiny for me to hear.
I leaned forward eager.
"Wayzz is a lock."
Wait.
"WHAT?"

Adrien's POV
I stretched on the rooftop, prowling in the shadows. I crawled up the Eiffel Tower just in time to see Volpina and Jade Turtle kissing. I always find the best timing. I watched them both blush and giggle, and lovey-dovey.
"Good night," I dryly interrupted. "You want me to book a room for you?"
They both jumped up in surprise, Jade Turtle almost tumbling out of the air and crashing to the floor. But Volpina caught him right in time. Seriously, something's switched between the two.
"Hi, Chat noir," Volpina evenly answered. "Where's Ladybug?"
"Here."
A soft thud landed behind me. I whipped around, squealing like a fangirl. "Ladybug! What are you doing, purrincess?" he wiggled an eyebrow and she rolled her eyes at me.
"I have something to say," Ladybug calmly said. "My Kwami desperately needs to talk to Trixx and Wayzz."
A strange look passed between Volpina and Jade Turtle. She bit her lower lip, uncertainly starting, "Umm, the thing is my Kwami disappeared from me too. I feel empty, I know she's not here."
"Same here," Jade Turtle said, his lips a tight thin line. "A little before hers did." He gestured at his girlfriend.
Ladybug's eyebrows furrowed. "This is a big problem," she sighed. "I think that's why I'm feeling so weak these days. My Kwami fuels on her emotions. So if she's emotionally unstable . . ." Her voice trailed away fearfully. "This happened before and it took a lot of effort to bring her back. She looked meaningfully at me.
I nodded. Then I added, trying to lighten up the mood. "So where do you think the missing Kwamis are? By the vanishing moments, you'd think they were in another dimension or something."
There was a pause.
"That's it!" the three heroes yelled at me at once.
"What?" I asked.
"They're in another dimension!" Volpina chattered excitedly. "That's why she isn't summoned into the necklace whenever I transform; because she isn't existing in this universe!"
"You're a genius, Chat!" Ladybug smiled. The dumb turtle gave me an awkward thumbs-up.
I shrugged, "It's kinda hard hiding the ingenuous mind, my lady."
"Well, what do we do now?" Volpina asked, enthusiastically. "Do we ride on rainbows? Or cut through dimensions? Orㅡ"
"How about, we shut up?" Jade Turtle said, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I'll have to devise a plan," Ladybug sighed. "I'll go visit the Guardian with Chat sometimes." I winked at her with a smirk.
"What about us?" Volpina and Jade Turtle grumbled. "We wanna see the Guardian as well!"
"Next year, next year," I laughed it off with a dismissive wave. Then I grabbed Ladybug's hand and we both jumped off the Eiffel Tower expertly before hiding into an alleyway just in time to de-transform.
"Good night, Adrien," Marinette smiled as she pecked me on the cheek. "We have History test tomorrow."
"I can fail that," I laughed as I nuzzled closer to her.
"Aww, come on," Marinette giggled. "I'll walk you home."
"No, I'll walk you home," I insisted. "I'm the man in here. You don't wanna be like Volpina and Jade Turtle. They are one weird couple."
Marinette laughed, "But my house is far away."
"To a love-sick cat, distance is nothing," I insisted as I intertwined our fingers together. It felt reassuring to have Marinette at my side, close to me. It was like a human reminder that my life wasn't so bad.
"Do you think Volpina would invite us to her engagement party?" Marinette asked, her eyes twinkling. "Do you think she'll let me design the dress?"
"She doesn't know 'Marinette' yet," I smiled. "But sure, why not?"
"I mean, I am pretty sure they're gonna be engaged," Marinette said. "Did you just see how the hearts popped out their eyes? I kinda wanted to take some back and research."
"That will be amazing," I chuckled, pulling her closer. "But it would be kinda rude to ruin their piny atmosphereㅡ"
I stopped, noticing two figures leaning against the wall.
"Oh look it's Nino!" Marinette squealed. "Andㅡ"
She stopped as well.
What we saw wasn't a big deal, really. It was just Nino and Volpina in the middle of a kiss.
There were a few moments of silence until I tugged a very-out-of-breath Marinette out into the shadows. Her eyes were widened. "Please don't tell me what I saw was true," she gasped.
"Shhh, purrincess," I reassured her. "It'll be fine."
"Nino is cheating on Alya with Volpina?" Marinette hissed. "O-Or, Volpina is cheating on Jade Turtle with Nino? This is crazy!"
I took her hands in mine. "Sweetie, I know that's sorta overwhelming butㅡ"
"How could he?" Marinette growled. "How could he? I'm going to kill him. Did Trixie find that shovel yet?"
"Hey, hey," I cooed. "I'll fix it. I'll fix it. Don't worry."
"I can't think straight anymore," Marinette breathed in and out. "I literally can't think straight anymore. Either Nino's a cheater or Volpina's a cheater.
"Or maybe they're both cheaters!" I cheerfully suggested. "Okay, that's not helping much. Let's get you home and I'll talk to both of them tomorrow, how about that?"
"Thanks," Marinette breathed.
This was one big mess.

Trixx's POV
I feel absolutely nothing right now. No emotions, no thoughts. Just everything neutral. I don't feel the anger anymore. I don't feel the exhausted thoughts anymore. I was thoughtless, just thoughtless.
"That's all true?" I asked once more, my voice hard.
"Trixx, are you alright?" Master Fu gently asked.
"Of course, of course," I said, blinking. "It makes so much sense now. All those things he did. All those things he said." I looked up. "You weren't monitoring me this whole time. You were monitoring Wayzz."
Master Fu was strained as he nodded a little.
"So . . . you cracked our essence and placed one splinter in Wayzz and one splinter in me. So we would be connected. So I can feel him. So he can feel me," I breathed. "But I never felt Wayzz. His emotions were never felt in my heart."
Master Fu's expression morphed into a concerned frown. "Trixxㅡ"
"I'm fine," I nodded back. "I'm totally fine. I'll just get out of here now."
"If you need anythingㅡ"
"I don't," I evenly shot back. "Unless you have an amnesia pill."
With that, I swept out of the little house, feeling nothing at all. It was as if I was feeling Wayzz. Nothing at all. No emotions whatsoever. Only darkness and secrets. The more you dig, the more you find ancient secrets and whispers of wisdom.
But you also find poison amongst them.
Good night, Paris.
Kinda short, I know. I know. I think this book would be a whole lot shorter than My Other Half but I'm hanging in here, trying to make content.
