#Rallyforriver
Known as 'Ganga of the South', river Kaveri is one of the longest river. She flows in the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and touches the Union Territory, Puducherry before emptying into Bay of Bengal. She is worshipped as Goddess in Kodagu region.
Numerous stories surround the origin of river Kaveri. One of them is South India was in the grip of severe famine and drought. The people visited Sage Agastya for solution. The sage decided to visit Lord Shiva on the Kailash mountains.
Upon reaching the snow capped Kailash, he presented the problem to the Destroyer God. He gave him some water in his kamandal and instructed him to find a suitable place to let Kaveri flow. Soon he reached Dakshin Bharat and was searching for a suitable place to let her free. She is regarded to have flown from sage Agastya's kamandal when Lord Ganesha had assumed the form of a crow and had upset the vessel. No matter which river it is, today they are drying at a very fast pace and it is our responsibility to save them.
