When I read this, I was shocked for a moment. With the historical knowledge I have, I can tell that this is sheer nonsense.

Though I agree with the fact that Mahishasura was a good king but his bad qualities overpowered his good qualities. It is said that the asura had sent the marriage proposal to Durga but she had rejected it. Then the war took place for 9 days and on the tenth day, Mahishasura was killed.

I understand where this coming from. I know the fact that from centuries, lower caste, shudras, non-Aryans or the Dalits have faced a lot due to the caste system. This doesn't mean one makes a stupid story, degrading the essence of whole festival. Durga instills courage in each one of us. She is a form of Shakti, she destroys the evil. This story is one of the core values of Sanatani Dharma- victory of good over evil.
