Chapter Thirteen
I was so excited! Leon had promised to take me to a festival! It would be a long trip and we had to stay the night in another town, but it would be worth it to get out and have fun. I'd never been to a festival before! I could barely contain myself as I ran around my room, grabbing a few of the outfits Leon had brought me, a couple books to read together during the trip and anything else I thought I might need or want, shoving them into the suitcase my love had bought me the other day.
"Leon, should I bring a dress to wear?" I asked, turning my head as I grinned at him.
"Don't worry, I already have something for you to wear to the festival. After all, you need something special to wear for our special date, right?" I blushed lightly at the mischievous smile on his face, his eyes sparkling.
I couldn't help but fall in love with him even more as I leaned in for a breathtaking kiss.
--------
I felt nervous as we waited for the bus to arrive. I hadn't been around crowds like this in such a long time. Our dates were usually so late in the evening that the places we went were nearly empty. I couldn't help jumping a little when I felt Leon place his hand on my shoulder, but the smile he gave me calmed me down quickly.
"It'll be ok, Shina. I'll protect you, so just enjoy our time together." He pressed a gentle kiss on the top of my head, holding me a little closer. I couldn't help but notice a girl nearby scowl at me before turning her head to wink at Leon. Frowning for a moment, I tilted my head to give Leon a slow kiss on his lips.
"I know you will, my love. You always do!"
--------
I hated this. It needed to stop. It needed to stop now! How dare that.. that... that trash keep trying to flirt with my Leon! She had no right! What kind of person would flirt with someone who was obviously in a relationship already! And a happy one at that! Lucky for her, Leon kept ignoring her advances, otherwise I might have had to have words with her.
Bringing out 'Romeo and Juliet' to read, I rested my head on Leon's shoulder, feeling him press his lips against my hair again and again. I couldn't hold back the smile as I heard the trash nearby give a huff and finally turn away, realizing she wouldn't, couldn't win Leon over.
"Want to read with me?" I quietly asked, opening to the first page.
"Sure, but just so you know... I never did like this book. What kind of fool would let the one he loved out of his grasp? If he really loved her, he would have killed anyone who got in the way. Romeo's love for Juliet is but a pale imitation of how I feel for you, Shina." I couldn't help the shiver that went down my spine at hearing him whispering those words into my ear, his fingers gently lifting my hair to his lips.
"And if Juliet had really loved Romeo, she wouldn't have let him leave her behind." He smiled at my response, pressing one last kiss to my hair before looking down to read the book with me, his head once again leaning against mine as he held me close to his heart.
I couldn't have asked for a more perfect love than this, for a more perfect lover. And he was all mine.
--------
The soft sounds of ripping paper filled the room we shared in the hotel, the pieces slowly falling to the floor as I opened the brightly wrapped gift Leon had given to me upon our arrival. When the last scrap had fallen from my trembling fingers, I carefully lifted the lid from shiny white box.
"Oh!" I couldn't stop the gasp from escaping, pressing my hands to my lips as I gazed at the soft purple and green fabric nestled inside the bottom of the box on my lap, a bright red ribbon resting on top. "It's beautiful!" I could feel his fingers brushing the tears of joy that trailed down my cheeks.
"I'm glad you like it. It will look even more beautiful with you wearing it." He brushed his lips across my cheek before pulling back to look into my eyes. "Will you wear it for me tonight? For our date?"
I couldn't do anything but nod, my voice lost as I drowned myself in his bottomless eyes.
--------
I looked back at Leon as we laughingly rushed towards the river, flowering trees lining the pathway. Everything was so beautiful tonight!
"Hurry Leon! We don't want to miss the fireworks!" I smiled as he caught up to me, reaching out to grasp my hand and pulling me to a stop.
"As long as I'm with you, it doesn't matter if I miss everything else in the world." My heart raced at his words. Reaching his hand to brush my hair away from my face, he slowly leaned forward.
