Chapter Forty-Three
A steady beep filled the room, the person on the bed unmoving as nurses and doctors wandered in and out of the room over the course of the day. Tubes ran from machines to various points on their body, supplying fluids and medicine alike to veins, air to lungs.
Occasionally someone would come close, checking for signs of awakening, only to leave a few minutes later having written notes down on the clipboard that hung from the end of the bed.
And so the days slowly began passing as the Leon slept on, bandages wrapped thickly around his head.
