Chapter 8 - As Time Progresses

It had been about a whole month now that Lukas had been part of the Academy. He was starting to get a bit comfortable within the school but it was now the beginning of February, the one month that he didn't really like since he considered the month to be the "Month of Love" in which people act more kind and share each other's affection so much.

But this still didn't deter him from his studying. He kept up with his History lessons and he even shared some notes he took with Zai occasionally when Zai was in a bit of a pinch when he forgot about something. This helped build up the roommate bond between them, which also in return allowed Lukas to get over his stuttering towards Zai the most.

He even took as much notes in the Magics class to try and figure out ways to improvise since apparently he contains a very powerful type of Magic. Ina helped him a lot when it came to this since she always brainstormed to the same extent as him so they could think on the same wavelength. The two balanced each other out to allow Lukas to improve in himself and he was getting comfortable with her to the extent that it felt like they were actually siblings, which Lukas just tries to shrug it off.

During the Combat classes he focused on improving his versatility with his Magic since he started off with the Wind element. When he figured it out on the first day of Combat class, he focused on that element alone because in his mind, if he could master one element, he could possibly at least have a strong Magic while learning another and master that one as well, but he was still focused on his Wind Magic.

However through the whole month when people learnt that he had Omni Magic, there were some random people that would come up to him from time to time. Some being from Class 1B and 1C sometimes, but most of the time he is left alone during breaktimes. Today was no different since after a History lesson, Lukas went to the cafeteria. When he got there he saw multiple students mingling along with each other having a great time, but he didn't want to do that kind of thing mainly because of the fact that he just simply doesn't trust himself to hold any form of promise.

He got his drink and tray with food as he went to a faraway desk at the corner of the cafeteria. As he sat down and ate, he even began to draw in the process. He was looking outside the window for inspiration, which when he saw the forest in the distance, he ended up drawing what he would imagine the inside of the forest to be like. Every detail was amazing and you could see little critters as well.

???: "Excuse me Lukas.."

He stopped his drawing to turn and look at someone he had met a few times through the first month. She had long silver hair while her eyes were an interesting shade of red. The most noticeable feature about her though is that she had a thin scar down her left eye which some cannot see unless you look properly, which somehow is harder to see sometimes due to her glasses. This student is from Class 1C, her name being Saruei from what Lukas could recall.

Lukas: "Yes Saruei?"

Saruei: "Mind if I have a seat here?"

Lukas: "Of course."

She then sat down with her own food, eating away peacefully. Though something honestly was bugging Lukas a bit so he couldn't help but ask.

Lukas: "What happened to your friend group you were mostly with...?"

Saruei: "They were busy with something today since they had to help out Lady Zentreya. So they aren't available at the moment."

Lukas: "T-Then why sit by me then if there is more seats elsewhere..?"

Saruei just shrugs.

Saruei: "Honestly, you're chill."

Lukas just accepts this response and by this time he had finished his food and began drinking while he continued to draw. Saruei occasionally glanced at his artwork, impressed by it but was just watching other students do their own things.

Saruei: "I got a question for you Lukas. What is it like.. to be an Omni Magician I mean?"

Lukas: "It is slightly intense with the popularity... A-And yet they probably expect a lot from me... So I may have amazing potential, it doesn't mean I am the best that people expect from me... I just think Zai is better than me in all categories so I cannot compete..."

Saruei: "Sucks to be you then, but hey, we all are expected to be able to be something. Honestly when I got recommended here by Lady Zentreya herself I was surprised because I don't have a lot of Magic qualities. So I have to rely on my wits and intelligence along with what I got. So consider yourself to be lucky man."

Lukas: "I guess... Well classes are going to begin soon again, I might as well go now. I'll see you around..?"

Saruei: "Of course, take care Lukas."

She smiled getting up as she took her empty tray away. Lukas closed his art book, packing it away in his blazer and picked up his tray with his nearly empty drink. He was walking until he saw Dropscythe who was walking around, which reminded Lukas about that one time last month when he saved his life. He wanted to thank him personally so he walked to him and called out to him.

Lukas: "H-Hey Dropscythe! There was something I wanted to-"

Before he could even say anything, someone tripped him on purpose, making him drop the tray with the drink which spilt all over Dropscythe when he turned around. Lukas landed face first to the ground and when Lukas looked up, he could see that the drink's contents were over Dropscythe's shirt and he was definitely pissed.

Lukas: "W-Wait! I can-"

Dropscythe did not hesitate and picked him up immediately by the collar and pushed him against the wall with heavy force. This made Lukas's back hurt badly and everyone in the cafeteria was watching on with anticipation. Lukas was stuck in the air against the wall within Dropscythe's grasp. This made Lukas completely terrified.

Doppio: "You think this is funny..?"

Lukas: "N-N-No! Listen it was an accident! I didn't mean to-"

Doppio: "I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!"

He then pulled Lukas forward, only to shove him into the wall again, this time leaving a bit of a crater behind. This did make Lukas spit out a bit of saliva in the process, gritting his teeth because of how painful this really is.

Doppio: "YOU DO KNOW THAT YOU FUCKED WITH THE WRONG STUDENT! I DON'T GIVE A SHIT IF YOU ARE THE OMNI MAGICIAN OF OUR FUCKING GENERATION! YOU THINK YOU COULD JUST WALTZ ON IN, MESS ON ME AND GET AWAY WITH IT!? THINK AGAIN DICKHEAD!"

Saruei: "Doppio!"

Saruei luckily managed to make it in time before things could esculate.

Saruei: "Let him go! It was an accident from his part! I saw the whole thing!"

Doppio: "Stay out of this! You are not part of our class!"

Saruei: "I may not be part of your class, but you can't just simply do shit like this to anyone at all!"

Sonzai: "Woah whoa ladies! Relax!"

Even Zai managed to arrive just in time, hearing the commotion that occurred.

Sonzai: "Listen Doppy, the one student trip him on purpose to get you mad. So let him down, or we can have a fight ourselves. You decide buddy."

Zai was being serious about this, and everyone in the cafeteria knows that when Zai is serious about something, it's not good. Dropscythe then grunts and just drops Lukas to the floor and just walks away with his hands in his pockets, grumbling something under his breathes that no one could properly interpret it. Zai just sighs.

Sonzai: "Thanks for helping Lukas out."

Saruei: "It ain't a problem Zai. I would probably advise a leash for that guy."

Zai just laughs it off and tells Saruei to get going to her class before it starts and the cafeteria starts clearing out. Once most of them were gone, Zai helped Lukas up.

Sonzai: "Hey you alright bud?"

Lukas: "I... I think so.."

Sonzai: "You can still walk right?"

Lukas: "Yeah.."

Sonzai: "Good, I will help you back to class so you can relax a bit. Besides I will allow you to sleep in class this time since you didn't get a good night's rest because of me last night."

Lukas nodded to that, agreeing to it since last night he had to help Zai keep up with his studies. Zai then helped him back to class and the rest of the day went uneventful, though Lukas couldn't get over the fact that he still wanted to thank Dropscythe somehow but it is so difficult to approach him that it's almost impossible for him. But when he got back home, he told Zai that he will just get some early rest and he went to bed, thinking on how he could possibly talk to him without getting on his bad side... again..
