Chapter 63 - Breaking Into Atlas

It was the next day now as Lukas, Altare and Zentreya were currently in front of the main building of the Atlas Corporation that is considered the HQ of the corporate ladder. Altare was wearing his usual getup as Hardway is aware of TEMPUS as they have done some jobs with Atlas before. Zentreya has her visor on at the moment so she wouldn't get recognized as she is aware that the only one that would immediately recognize her is OBSIDIAN.

As for Lukas, he was currently wearing a different attire than what he was used to. Wearing a white coat that travels down to his knees, having blue accessories to compliment. Though the back of the coat has the symbol of the TEMPUS group on it. It also came with a hood that is white on the outside and blue on the inside, making it easy for Lukas to conceal himself. The rest of his attire consists of a black shirt, black jeans with a brown belt and black shoes. He didn't know if this disguise would work as he currently had his hood on at the moment.

Altare: "Alright Melody we're in position."

Altare said by speaking through an earpiece.

Melody: "Alright~ The meeting that you should be having is being held by Hardway himself. He intends on meeting with you on the 30th floor of the building as there is a meeting room that he tends to hold the meet and greets."

Altare: "Good to know. Zentreya, Misaki, you both know what to do right?"

The two nod in agreement as they begin to make their distance from Altare as he made his way into the building. He first walked to the receptionist desk as he explained that he was here to see Hardway, which allowed him access to the elevator, preparing to take it to the 30th floor. Though Lukas walked on in with Zentreya in toe, though the receptionist noticed the two.

???: "May I know the meaning of your visit?"

Lukas: "We do apologize, but we're here to meet with someone..."

Lukas was doing his best to remain calm while keeping his hood on, Zentreya kept her arms crossed to make herself seem like a bodyguard kind of android.

???: "May I know who-"

Before the receptionist could ask, she ended up receiving a call, making her answer it immediately. The call went on for about two minutes as when the receptionist was done, she returned back to the two.

???: "My apologies. They'll be waiting for you."

Lukas: "Thank you."

Lukas then led Zentreya to the elevator they would be taking as he pressed the 50th floor, with the elevator beginning its ascent. Lukas then looked up at the camera, being a little nervous as he wasn't sure if it is going as smoothly as he had hoped.

Melody: "I have control over the cameras, so don't worry for now."

Lukas: "Yeah... Got it."

Zentreya: "Lukas Misaki, I got a question for you."

Lukas: "Y-Yes miss Zentreya..?"

Zentreya: "Your family, what have they really done for this company?"

Lukas: "Well... They technically were traders for Atlas, trading off some of the more militaristic tech to the United States government mostly..."

Zentreya: "They're government officials right?"

Lukas: "Yeah... They hold a foothold within the government, allowing them to make the decisions that they want but... Due to mister Hardway, Atlas has a foothold over the whole government thanks to my family..."

Zentreya: "I see. I've also checked out a bit about your past with Motoaki Tanigo. Apparently they disowned you?"

Lukas: "They did... My sister was very... conniving one might say..."

Zentreya: "Don't you want to patch things up with your family?"

Lukas: "Even if I wanted to... It's too late for that."

Zentreya: "Well, at least you got a new one."

Lukas: "What..?"

Zentreya: "The Academy will be your family from this point onward Lukas Misaki. We tend to take care of the students as if they're our own. You still got a future ahead of you as we intend to  give everyone a chance to carve their own life. That is what Gunrun has mentioned to me before I applied as a teacher at the Academy."

Lukas: "I... I see... If I can't patch things up with my family... I suppose I could see my friends as family..."

Zentreya: "That's the spirit Lukas Misaki. You still got plenty of time to make things right for yourself."

Melody: "I can agree with Zen on this one, but you're about to reach the 50th floor, focus your game and get moving."

Lukas: "R-Right.."

Zentreya: "Roger."

Soon enough, the elevator opened on the 50th floor, allowing the two to quickly walk to where they need to be. Back with Altare, he was making his way through the building until he reached the main room in question as he opened the door, only to find Hardway standing there, looking outside the window while he was smoking a cigarette.

Hardway: "Regis Altare. I wasn't expecting you to have a meeting with me so soon."

Altare: "Well, it was about important business of course since you still supply the Co-Founders with plenty of things."

Altare then closed the door behind himself as he made his way towards the centre of the room. The room was fairly small, but not too cramped as it had an oval shaped desk that had about six seats on each side, making Altare sit in one of them. Hardway, turned around as he looked at Altare with a serious expression.

Hardway: "Business is business and I can't deny that. Business is important and I don't intend to break my end of the bargain anytime soon."

Hardway then took his seat on the opposite side of Altare.

Hardway: "Now, what business are you willing to discuss with me?"

Altare: "Well, it was regarding with some of your most recent tech. My employers were very curious on what you've been up to when it comes to revolutionary advancements."

Hardway: "We've been working on simplistic combat AI. Focusing on battle hardened androids that could keep the peace while also fight off our enemies without needing to get our own hands dirty. We've only been prepping the United States government military with these, while also running some test runs on some terrorist groups that now no longer exists."

Altare: "I see. Though my employers wanted to know on how many you're willing to make off of these? Are they combat ready to face off Supernatural?"

Hardway: "We'll only make the necessary amount of these ATLAS bots to fend off against any threat. Though when it comes to Supernatural threats that could threaten our very own existences... They may not win in a one on one scenario, but have multiple of these against them, they'll get overwhelmed and taken down with ease. Is the Co-Founders that curious that you lot want to buy some of them?"

Altare: "Well no. We aren't looking for buying, we're looking to ensure that things are still relatively peaceful between our negotiations as per usual. Though we're also aware of something that you're hiding from us mister Hardway."

Hardway: "And what would that be?"

Altare: "You're creating highly intelligent androids for special operations, am I right?"

Hardway narrowed his eyes while Altare did the same. It was clear that these two didn't really get along, though they were playing it off as but a business proposition. We then cut to Lukas and Zentreya as they made their way to the main head office, opening the doors.

Lukas: "This is it."

Lukas walked in first, looking around the room, realizing that it was relatively the same as before when he was last here.

Melody: "Alright, I'm still in the mainframe so you still got a couple of minutes before they figure out something is wrong, but hurry."

Zentreya quickly closed the doors behind them as Lukas quickly ran to the computer as he tried to access the computer, but to his surprise, Melody was already a few steps ahead. She was able to get the password and get on through for him to continue, which he was grateful for as he was going really quickly with searching for a copy of the identification clearance.

After about a few minutes, he managed to find it as he patched Melody through, which left both Zentreya and Lukas only one option, which was to wait until it's done.

Lukas: "How long is this going to take..?"

Melody: "Just wait for about a few minutes tops. Then you should have the clearance, though while doing this, I've discovered where their main base of operations is."

Zentreya: "Go ahead."

Melody: "It would seem that it is correct that the base is underneath Atlas City, but the entrance isn't where you would think. They're using an old subsidiary building as a cover front to make others outside of Atlas Corporation unaware."

Lukas: "That does sound like them..."

Zentreya: "Even so, we got what we came here for. Once we get the clearance, we can raid them, destroy what they have and go back to the Academy."

Lukas: "It might not be that simple... The tech that Atlas has been up to recently really is difficult to take down, so I doubt we'll bring them down that easily..."

Zentreya: "I see your point Lukas Misaki."

Zentreya's visor eyes narrowed as she was looking around the room while Lukas was eyeing the computer from time to time. Back to Altare, he was still in a staring contest with Hardway as their eyes are still narrowed.

Hardway: "What makes you think I've been working on such AI?"

Altare: "We can check your income logs as you've been quite an important figurehead within the United States. Why would we simply just let you do everything if you might be plotting something behind the people's backs?"

Hardway: "You honestly believe that I would plot against the people? Everything I do is for the people."

Altare: "For Humanity you mean? I know you've had some form of grudge against the Supernatural for some time Hardway."

Hardway: "I don't hold a grudge. I am merely planning a few steps ahead if things get out of hand."

Altare: "Does that include the deaths of innocent Supernatural beings?"

Hardway: "They were caught in the crossfire between the combat AI bots and the terrorists. There's nothing I can really do about that."

Altare: "You tend to cause more harm at times then keep things on the downlow. The Co-Founders could break off the treaty with you if they wanted to, but you hold them on a leash because you would expose them? You honestly have terrible tastes. You're nothing but a criminal Hardway."

Hardway: "Say what you want, but I am the future that this continent needs. I am but a businessman who is willing to take the risks that you and the Co-Founders can't. You alongside the rest of them are nothing but cowards afraid of being exposed for your true natures. If you want to keep Humanity and the Supernatural safe, I advise that you don't hide the truth anymore."

Altare: "We hide the truth so conflicts never occur! Humanity and the Supernatural can coexist as long as we don't spark the fire!"

Hardway: "You don't seem to quite understand. The Supernatural will never be Human, and Humanity will never be like the Supernatural. Conflicts are inevitable, whether we like it or not. The Supernatural look down on Humanity like we're the plague when they're the ones causing unnecessary violence. Of course I can understand that Humanity and the Supernatural have similarities, but it doesn't mean they can truly live amongst each other."

Altare: "You don't know that!"

Hardway: "I do."

Altare: "What makes you so sure on that!?"

Hardway: "You don't know what it's like to be stomped on by the Supernatural when you have no power, do you?"

Altare gritted his teeth, knowing that there isn't any point in arguing with a man who is never going to fold.

Altare: "So what if I don't? What's it to you?"

Hardway: "That's exactly the point. There are those who live in fear. Even if Humanity isn't aware of the Supernatural for many years, we still fear change and the unknown. I have moved on past that phase in my life Regis Altare. If the Supernatural intend to supress us, then why doesn't that give us Humans the chance to improve? Why shouldn't we prepare for the Supernatural that want us dead? Innovation to overcome any possibility, is what makes Atlas thrive. I helped your precious Co-Founders because they were willing to keep the Supernatural in check, yet they seem to not be doing their jobs correctly. I intend to fix that soon, so as a proposition, I'm willing to give you a choice."

Altare: "What kind of choice?"

Hardway: "You're either against Humanity, or with it. If you get in the way, you and the Co-Founders shall be exposed to the populace of the world where others can bear witness to the lies you all have spread. It's your call."

Altare was hesitant as he knew that he started something he can't back down on. However he looked at Hardway with determination in his eyes.

Altare: "I can keep your things a secret, however it doesn't mean I can't interfere with your wrongdoings. If you cause any harm to any innocent individual, whether they be Human, or Supernatural, I won't hesitate."

Hardway: "You can if you'd like, but you know you won't get far without your head rolling off of your body."

Altare: "What do you mean by that?"

Altare was about to say something again as he felt a strange metallic end right by his neck, making him notice it to be of a robotic tail. He turned his gaze to behind himself slightly as he could tell that this was the android that Lukas and Zai fought the previous day. It was OBSIDIAN as her metallic tail's endpoint was close to his neck.

Hardway: "As I've said, you won't get far."

Altare: "I'm not afraid. However I'll take my leave and inform the Co-Founders about your AI being used for better purposes."

Hardway: "Good. OBSIDIAN, let him go."

OBSIDIAN didn't say anything as he tail retracted away from Altare as he got back to his feet, walking out of the room while rubbing his neck slightly. While with Lukas and Zentreya, it was clear that they got what they came for as Melody managed to make the copy they needed.

Melody: "Alright, we're good to go. Now get out as quick as you can, Altare is probably done with his meeting by now."

Zentreya: "Alright, we're leaving."

Lukas nodded his head as they both then left the office, making their way to the elevator. Though along the way, Lukas did still have his hood up, however it wasn't his lucky day as while walking, he noticed his family walking past him. He did his best to avoid eye contact to prevent being seen. Though when he did walk past his sister Angelica, a sudden surge went through both of them, making them both stop in their tracks as they were confused on what just happened.

Lukas/Angelica: "What the...?"

Ichigo: "You alright dear?"

Angela: "Yeah you alright..?"

Lukas and Angelica then both turned around, making them both have eye contact as they both realized who the other was. Before Lukas could say anything though, Zentreya interfered.

Zentreya: "Apologies Master, but we need to be going."

Lukas: "Y-Yeah... Sorry."

Lukas then turned around, quickly walking away with Zentreya close behind. Though Angelica kept watching on until she turned around as well as the family went to the main head office. When Lukas and Zentreya entered the elevator, the elevator doors closed in time as Lukas almost fell over, clutching his head for a moment.

Zentreya: "You alright?"

Lukas: "I... I don't know..."

Zentreya: "Was that your family earlier?"

Lukas: "Y-Yeah... Though what I experienced now is... new..."

Zentreya: "What happened?"

Lukas: "I felt a sudden... surge... I don't know how to explain it... It's like... We were able to connect and sync with each other... I know I can utilize Mana and use Magic... But can she too...?"

Zentreya: "There is a possibility since you're family might be connected to the Supernatural without prior knowledge. But for now, relax and focus as we aren't out just yet. These things can be handled later."

Lukas: "Y-You're right..."

Lukas ended up agreeing with Zentreya as the two hurried to get out of the building as soon as possible without being detected. With that, the mission was a success, for the most part at least...
