Chapter 5 - Magics Class

It is now Lukas's second day at the Academy. He had to get up around the same time for Zai's sake and he was slightly more calm than yesterday, but yet at the same time he was always weary of his surroundings this time around. He knows that if the supernatural can use Glamour to blend in the whole time, who knows if a stranger could be part of it and just attack him out of nowhere. This thought really terrifies him to the core on his walk, but when he got into the academy grounds, he felt safer, more relieved.

He immediately went to his Homeroom class, though Zai went to do something else like the previous day. He got to his desk, sitting in his seat and taking out the same book he draws in, looking through his drawings. He did love his artwork per say, but he was always nervous to share it with anyone else, but he did show it to Zai yesterday, yet he feels like that was a different case.

???: "Hey Lukas."

He got a fright, making this the second time he was jump scared by someone else while he was busy with his book. He turned to see Ina, having a calming smile on her face.

Lukas: "H-Hey Ina.."

Ina: "Is that book yours?"

Lukas: "Y-Yes it is..."

Ina: "I never knew you were an artist. I am somewhat one myself, mind if I have a look?"

Lukas was sweating internally, confused on how to respond, but all he could do was nod as Ina dragged the chair from her table to his, taking a seat. He then gave the book to her, allowing her to hum while looking through his work. It was mostly silent, somewhat a perfect atmosphere to the two, feeling like they had found peace while her hums kept them relaxed. At some times he could tell that her eyebrows lifted a little, making him think that she might be questioning some of his artwork. Once she was done, she stopped at the last page that he drew in, which was the drawing from yesterday.

Ina: "Your art style is simply amazing. Every detail you put in gives off a feeling of reminiscence. Yet I can tell that every piece you have drawn as meaning. Mind telling me this one?"

She was keeping her gentle smile while asking him. She began tapping her one finger on the newest drawing, making him sweat a little. His face was a little saddened, making him remember his past. So he looked down a bit, giving the answer the best way he could.

Lukas: "In truth... That drawing represented my life with my family..."

He couldn't say anything else, but Ina got the idea by closing the book.

Ina: "I see, well don't worry. I too have my own problems, so I won't pry into yours alright?"

Lukas looked back up to her, she was still remaining her smiling composure, though her eyes spoke of sincerity. Something about her elegance of an expression made Lukas blush a bit, looking away again.

Lukas: "Thanks..."

Ina: "No problem."

The door opens to show the teacher walking.

Vox: "Alright everyone take your seats."

Ina immediately tapped Lukas's shoulder and moved back to her desk. The teacher mostly did a routine check to see if all the students are accounted for, luckily everyone was and they started their first lesson. It was History, but they mostly learnt about the basics of the supernatural, nothing too important. After that three hour lesson, they were allowed to go to their next class, which was the first time now for the first years to go to a different class.

The next class was interesting to Lukas, mainly that the rows of seats were set up with long desks that made him think that he was in a university. He took his seat, but he was seated next to Ina and Zai much to his luck. He felt more comfortable being around them at the moment. When everyone took their seats, he noticed two men sitting at the front of the classroom. The first one stood up in front of the desk while the other sat down, tweaking with something while hiding it from the class.

The one who stood up introduced himself.

Shu: "Greetings students of 1A. I am Shu Yamino, Magics teacher and Homeroom teacher of class 1B. You all may call me Yamino-Sensei. The one sitting behind me is Magni Dezmond, an alchemist who is widely knowledgeable of this subject."

Dezmond: "But you all can just call me Dezmond."

Dezmond said this while he just put whatever he finished into the drawer of the desk.

Shu: "To start of, we will discuss the concept of Magic itself."

Lukas gulped silently, worried that since he was just a normal human, how was he supposed to know of these things in the first place.

Shu: "Magic can vary depending on your origins. For example me, I use what is known as Jujutsu Sorcery, a technique I have learnt through my years of experience. I know what you all are thinking, me, a human able to learn Magic? It is possible for humans to learn Magic as well, making them quite deadly if they use it correctly, but they tend to struggle more than what you all can do. However today's lesson is mainly getting to know your affinity."

Lukas: "Affinity..?"

Lukas didn't realize that he blurted that out loud and immediately tried to hide himself from embarrassment. But the teacher just smiled.

Shu: "Indeed Young Misaki. Every one of us has an affinity, which is a way to categorize on what we are able to use. To solve this, we will do a simple exercise. Just watch what I do."

Everyone in the class watched what the teacher was doing next. He first started by clasping his hands together. A feint glow shined out of the grasp and he started to pull his hands apart from each other, but slowly. Then it was revealed that there, sitting between his palms was a glowing purple ball made out of his Magic.

Shu: "As you can see, my affinity falls under Jujutsu. The colour of your own can determine what is possible and what you could accomplish. The brightness of it can differ from individual to individual. Each and everyone's Magic is unique in its own right. Some's Magic couldn't even be considered as Magic but as something else sometimes. So we will go from individual to individual to determine what each of you have. So be ready and take notes."

Lukas gulped, feeling completely nervous about this since he never knew and never even tried something like this. So all he could do since the teacher went from the top of the list to the bottom to see what everyone had, was mainly watch how others did it and speculate on how his might work, if he even has Magic to begin with.

One by one each of Lukas's classmates were called up, their colours arranging based on their origins. Some were quite bright, some were quite dim, but there were some that stood out the most. Millie Parfait's was an interestingly dim one, being a very dark black, but in a swirling form. Ina's was a mixture of both dark and light purple colours, swirling over each other like a battle for dominance. But Amelia Watson's was by far the brightest one out of the lot, having a sky blue colour that could blind some people who wasn't expecting it. When it got to Zai's turn, Lukas knew that he was up next.

He didn't pay attention to Zai's one mainly because he was trying to control his breathing. He breathed in and out slowly so he could relax, but it wasn't working really. No one else could notice this, except for Ina. She put her left hand on his right shoulder, making him stop in his place and he turned to look at Ina.

Ina: "It is alright. I can tell you haven't done anything like this before by how you are reacting in this situation. So I will give you a tip."

She was giving a caring smile while speaking to him softly, making sure no one else could hear them.

Ina: "Imagine warmth building up in your hands. Upon pulling them apart, imagine the warmth travelling in a line until it would form into a complex conglomeration of your emotions."

Lukas was confused on what she was getting at, but he was called up next, so he had no choice but to go up to the front of the class. Once he got to where he needed to stand, the teacher allowed him to begin.

Lukas breathed in and out slowly, then slowly clasping his hands together. He closed his eyes, imagining what Ina told him to imagine. The warmth from his hands built up. Soon the whole class watched in anticipation, seeing a bright mixture of colours forming from within his clasped hands. The pressure from it was sending what felt like wind all over the class. As he began to separate his hands from each other, electrical currents of multiple colours moved from his hands into a flowing water-like substance that started to swirl around each other in the small ball shape.

Everyone was strangely captivated by the brilliance of the swirling colours. Even Yamino-Sensei was surprised by this. Dezmond was mainly interested on how something like this was even possible.

Shu: "Fascinating..."

When Lukas heard that, he opened his eyes to see the form itself. The swirling colours was giving him a mixture of emotions. Happiness, sadness, depression, guilt, excitement, he didn't know how to pinpoint it all.

Shu: "Well 1A, you got one of the most rare occasions within our history."

Everyone was a little confused, but what Yamino-Sensei said next was what shocked Lukas and stun locked everyone else.

Shu: "Today this Academy has got its first ever Omni Magician!"

He said it in a way that it was revolutionary. He was confused on what he was on about, so when he concentration was broken, the swirling colours dispersed into particles and creating a small shockwave, sending him flying into Dezmond's desk, shattering it into pieces. Dezmond luckily was unharmed, but for Lukas, he was out cold from the impact.
