Chapter 1 - Welcome to Vtopia

(Lukas P.O.V.)

Vtopia, a large city that seems to be like any other city you could imagine, something similar to New York or Tokyo perhaps. But in truth it is home to beings that any ordinary people wouldn't imagine exists. The supernatural walk amongst us within this large island that is miles upon miles away from the continents of our known world, some could even say that it is in another plain of existence for all we know since we can't get there traditionally without permission.

Honestly these years had changed my life completely, I don't know if it is for the better or for the worse, but this is my story on my journey through the supernatural world as an academy student.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Third Person P.O.V.)

The airport of Vtopia was relatively small in comparison to most of the city, taking in only a few flights in every few years since this island is not so popular to the outside world. This flight held a lot of people who wanted to spend a long vacation since Vtopia had many things that it could offer. Arranging from beautiful beaches, a beautifully large forest and possibly some hidden secrets that one wouldn't mind seeking. Out of the crowd stood one person, he walked outside the airport, awaiting at the entrance.

His hair was black, though it was medium in length, it was smooth and slick. The length of the fringe covered his right eye, only revealing his left eye being a strange vibrant purple. His attire mostly consisted of blue jeans, black belt, white sports shoes, white leather jacket, and a blank black shirt. He was dragging along a suitcase that was a plain and simple black colour. Compared to others that seemed excited or fascinated by the city itself, it wasn't to this teenager.

This teenager was obviously nervous and freaking out on the inside, mainly because of how overwhelming this city feels. Its large buildings made him feel like he was looking at multiple Empire Estate Buildings, but it was mainly his eyes playing on him with depth perception. He was nervous since he never wanted to come to this city in the first place, but he had no choice to, which was what made him mostly negative on the flight, even when he arrived in the first place. This teenager is Lukas Misaki, a boy who grew up with no social skills ever in his life because of his parents wanting him to further his education so he could become "great" just like his father who is a lawyer and his mother who is part of the government.

He just wasn't feeling like himself since there was so many people leaving at the same time, he repeated to himself in his head on a particular lesson he taught himself. Deep slow breathes, in and out. The beating pace of his heart that was really fast slowed down, allowing him to rethink his situation. He wanted to come to conclusions, but the answers were just too vague or not complete, making him sigh out loud in annoyance.

Then suddenly he saw a limousine pull up, which made him confused. He knew that the city is very large, yet he could imagine people having lots of money, but yet at the same time, he did see a lot of cars head on by and they were more basic than anything else. So when the limo came to a halt, a man came out of it, looking towards Lukas, giving him a smile. Lukas snapped out of his stuper and immediately walked towards him, seemingly confused and nervous at the same time. He was wondering to himself if he was making a bad first impression already, if so he feels like this is going to be a rough couple of years already.

???: "You Young Misaki?"

Lukas: "Y-Yes I am sir... Are you mister T-Tanigo..?"

Motoaki: "Yes I am, please enter. We have much to discuss."

Lukas then swallows his own spit, gulping in fear that this might go south really quickly. But he entered with Tanigo putting the suitcase in the boot. When Lukas entered, he saw a woman who seemed relatively normal, like an assistant. She has blue hair with blue eyes that suits her business attire along with her glasses. To Lukas she seemed to be a very intelligent and stunning individual with her stunning figure. Tanigo then entered and the limo started moving on into the traffic.

Motoaki: "I suppose I should introduce us. I am Motoaki Tanigo, one of the cofounders of the Chō Shizen-teki Academy. This here is my assistant A-chan."

A-chan: "A pleasure to meet you mister Misaki."

Lukas: "I d-don't think I need any formalities..."

Motoaki: "You don't need to worry about that. For now, let us focus on another matter. For you know over the phone, I mentioned that the academy is different compared to others, but to be specific, do you believe in the supernatural?"

Lukas: "M-Maybe...?"

Lukas didn't know how to respond to that. It was one of the weirdest questions he had ever been asked before.

Motoaki: "In truth, the supernatural does exist, as I have pointed it out to you before. It was a requirement for you to enter since you are officially the first human that is not connected to it at all to join this fine academy."

Lukas: "I-I am..?"

Motoaki: "Indeed, most people in the world aren't aware of this, but many, many years ago, the supernatural lived amongst us humans in prosperity, but eventually due to a predicament and the troubles it was causing, the governments in the world decided to apply a secret law to protect the supernatural and the natural you consider today as natural."

Lukas: "I-If that is true... t-then sh-shouldn't my m-mom know about it...?"

Motoaki: "Well actually no. The governments ended up forgetting about the law over time mainly because of the societies forgetting them. Now the supernatural blends in with the humans by using what we call Glamour, a particular skill for all who have features that doesn't seem human. They can blend in with their features being well hidden from public eye, so if you're caught without one within a public place, two things mainly happen, but you better know them. First option would be to apprehend them, then make others forget by wiping their memories and all evidence that was there in that incident."

Lukas: "And the second..?"

Motoaki: "The second would be killing people who knows too much and fake it. There is a lot at stake when it comes to this, so this is a serious ordeal. We mustn't let the whole world know of their existence, otherwise things will get out of hand. I hope you understand this Young Misaki?"

Lukas: "I-I do..."

Motoaki: "You seem to be taking in this information really well. Not even questioning me if I am lying."

Lukas: "I can tell if someone is l-lying because of their expressions alone m-mister Tanigo..."

Motoaki: "I see. Well it will be great for you to get settled in today because school starts for you tomorrow."

Lukas: "W-What...?"

Motoaki: "Look at that, we're already here."

Lukas blinks a few times in confusion, he tried to look out the windows, but due to their black tint, not only does it prevent others looking from the outside, but strangely the inside as well. So he was really confused on where he was and what Tanigo meant by what he said. So when Tanigo opened the door, he gestured Lukas to step on out, so he complied without trying to cause a scene. The moment he managed to take his first step outside the limo, he saw he was in front of a house of sorts. The house seemed to be really decent, like a two story house. The balcony seemed really nice to be sitting outside on a tiresome day. He could have sworn that he saw someone looking through the window on the second floor, but quickly pulled the curtains closed.

Tanigo was already taking Lukas's suitcase from the boot, handing it to him.

Motoaki: "The person inside this very home will be your roommate. I had an arrangement with them so it wouldn't trouble them unless you want it to be."

Lukas: "W-Wait... I am living in t-the same home w-with someone I-I don't k-know..?"

Motoaki: "Don't worry, they aren't that bad. At any rate, I will see you after school tomorrow in my office so we can discuss things further. Do enjoy your first night here in our fair city. Farewell."

Tanigo then gets inside the limo, but before Lukas could even ask another question, the door was shut and the limo took off. Making him sigh in annoyance. Now not only is he in a foreign place, being part of a school filled with things that could possibly kill him, if he believed that the supernatural is real anyways, but he also now has to stay in a house with somebody else. He was not liking this at all, but he cleared his throat, listening to his own heartbeat.

He breathed in and out slowly so he could calm himself and he walked on towards the door, while dragging his suitcase. He could tell that it was reaching sunset, so it was late in the afternoon around this time, so there could be a possibility that this person was most likely busy with something and it might be rude to interrupt whatever they were doing. But he sucked up his anxiety and let out a sigh, neatening himself and checked if there was a doorbell. Sadly there wasn't, so he then knocked on the door.

Lukas: "Hello!? M-My name's Lukas Misaki! I am here because of m-mister Tanigo's requests!"

He waited for a bit, hoping that there would be an answer, but he was slowly getting anxious as he waited patiently. His right foot started moving tapping up and down, showing how negative he is being right now. He started sweating a little, but quickly wiped it away and knocked again.

Lukas: "I k-know you're in there! I saw you on the second floor earlier and-!"

Before he could even say anything else, he heart stopped for a moment as the door opened to see the person that would be his roommate, though with a scowl expression.

???: "And what?"

Lukas gulped in fear that he made a bad impression, yet again.
