Capricorn is all about hard work. Those born under this sign are both ambitious (having or showing a strong desire and determination to succeed) and determined. Life is one big project for these folks, and they adapt to this by adopting a businesslike approach to most everything they do. Capricorns are practical as well, taking things one step at a time and being as realistic and pragmatic (dealing with things sensibly and realistically) as possible. The Capricorn-born are extremely dedicated to their goals. Victory smells sweet, and that thought alone will keep Capricorns going.

The goat symbolizes Capricorns, which fits their description well. Goats love to climb to the top of the mountain, where the air is clear and fresh. The flip side to this staid (sedate, respectable, and unadventurous) behavior is that Goats can become quite unforgiving of those who aren't as diligent or ambitious as they are. Capricorns need to remember that they do need allies along the way.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn. In ancient Roman mythology, Saturn was the father of many of the gods. Consider him top dog, and you'll see a parallel to Capricorn. I personally feel like this fits me. It might not be all the time, but when I know I have to be serious, my Capricorn moon sign really comes out. For example, when I'm working on a project with a group or when I'm in a competition, I can get overpowering (thanks Scorpio Rising), and I feel the need to direct everyone in the way of success. I also love doing extra assignments, like book reports, just for fun, because I love it when I have something to do. However, when I know it's time to let loose, I can get pretty carefree and loud, due to my Aries sun sign.
