The Fault in Our Stars vs Wattpad romance fanfictions

Now let me clear something up: I am NOT a crazy obsessed fangirl of this book/movie. I just like it.

I read the book after the movie came out, and by the time I finished it, the movie was out of theaters. So now I have to wait to see the movie.

This is a romance novel, correct? Yes, okay. Now compare this book to the romance novels on Wattpad (I read mostly fanfictions). TFIOS had absolutely no break ups between Hazel and Augustus. NONE. Now take a look at the other books. Break ups, drama, and tears.

To write a good romance book is a very difficult thing. I haven't mastered it yet. But I know one thing: You don't have to make them break up in order to have a good story with drama. Heck, there doesn't even need to be much romantic drama between the two to make a good story.

Another thing: Don't make their relationship the only point in the book. Make your little characters have other struggles besides falling in love. I know, I know, my book is not a good example for this. I need to add that in.

You see, in TFIOS, they had cancer and Amsterdam to deal with. So add a bit more to your book. I just hate it when the whole point of the book is just two people falling in love. That's stupid. That's cheesy. Don't do it.

And these Wattpad books move so fast! Don't make them kiss in chapter two. In The Fault in Our Stars, their first kiss was in chapter twelve. Mmm-hmm. That's right. I remembered.

And another thing is the love triangles. Don't get me wrong, love triangles are sometimes good, if well-written. Just don't make the girl hop to one guy, then hop to the other. Because if it was two girls and one guy, the dude would be dead by now. Just sayin'.

Now a question for you all: Okay?
