CHAPTER 7: OH GOODY. NOW WHERE AM I?
When I woke up, I was in a hospital looking bed. The walls were completely white. I freaked out and tried to touch my head, but I couldn't pull my arms or legs up off the bed. My chest felt strained. I couldn't pull myself up at all. I looked around me, and realized that I was being held down by leather straps that were around my wrists, ankles, and chest. I started to wiggle around to try to find a way out, but the straps were so tight that I ended up rubbing myself raw in a most places, even cutting myself a few times. I gave up and calmed down and loosened all of my muscles. You need to calm down, and think of a plan. I closed my eyes. I listened for anything that might help me. After a few moments, I heard footsteps. I let myself go completely slack, and hoped that the person looking at me didn't see that I was awake. As they came in the room, the door gave out a squeak that was very loud. They stopped, and after making sure that I was still asleep, continued towards me. They released my chest, and then they gasped. I sneaked a quick look, and I saw Bree standing above me. She whispered,
"Oh, Erin." She lightly touched one of the cuts that I had cut into myself on my wrist, but I cried out in pain. It hurt. She jumped, but then gathered herself.
"Erin! You're awake."
"I've kinda.....have....been awake the......entire.....time." My voice was pretty much gone for good. It was hard to breath, so I had to stop and take a breath.
"You know, I figured as much."
She undid all of the leather bindings, and I sat up. She looked me over and said,
"Your shirt protected your chest from getting cut, you still managed to rub your ankles and wrists raw."
"And.....cut them....too!" I said with a smirk on my face.
"It's not funny!"
"Whatever. Hey, why was....I....under leather bindings?"
"Oh, well, you kind of aren't exactly one to sit still while someone puts an I.V. tube in your arm." Bree said. I glanced at my arm. She was right. There was still a small swollen red dot from the needle.
"You were lucky that I was asleep when they put the needle in me." I said. I hate any sharp medical object that can pierce skin.
"I know, but you were dying. What else were we supposed to do?"
"Not put a needle in me."
"Yeah, like we have much of a choice when someone is about to die."
Bree looked at me and we both knew that she had won.
"Just get me out of here before I freak out any more."
"Follow me."
As I got up, I got a really bad headache. The world kinda spun around in a circle before I regained my balance.
"Whoa! Careful there..."
"I know. Believe me I know." Suddenly, a dark corner sprang to life. It took on a humanoid shape. It had a dark scratchy voice that seemed almost alien.
"Hello." I backed up into the wall, and the thing soared into Bree's body. She screamed and then became as rigid as a stick. It started to speak through her but in the same rugged voice.
"Now, Chosen One," she smirked, and grabbed a small metal file, and walked towards me.
"Show me how you die."
