Days turned to weeks
Weeks turned to months
And just like that
It's been over a year

I have the date memorized
As it made a huge impact on my life
We don't talk anymore
We both have separate lives

You would think I've moved on
And trust me when I say I have
But every poet has their own style
Writing about you was my favorite crime

And I'd do it over and over again
Not because I still love you
I just love writing about you
It gives me a sense of comfort

You're my safe space
My favorite place
I can never write about anybody
The way I write about you

Sure I talk to a lot of people
Some platonic, while others romantic
But I know I'm not gonna fall in love
Not after everything we've been through

Usually I don't have words to write
But when it's about you,
The words just aren't enough
