Intro: Ooh, I get to talk about Black Clover again!! Man, I love this anime. And these two... oh my gosh, what Tabata does with these two is brilliant. The captain of the technically worst squad in the kingdom who's acts like he's already been on his own Shonen-esque journey, and then there's the captain of the all-girls squad who acts like a man-hater... yeah, this is gonna be fun. And now that I'm caught up to the anime, and currently in the process of reading the manga (wow, the manga's so much better in the beginning), I feel as though I'm qualified to talk about this ship.

Proof: Well, there's not a whole lot to go off of at first. Until the late thirties in episodes, we don't even see these two interact. But when they finally do... it's pure gold.

Charlotte, who at this point has established herself as a no-nonsense woman who don't need no man, who runs a squad who seemingly hate men as much as she... turns out, she has an adorable schoolgirl crush on Yami. She manages to keep herself composed around him, props for that, but her inner dialogue is the absolute best. She's constantly berating herself for falling for him, wondering what her squad would think of it, and, of course, the constant "Why can't I just tell him how I feel?!?!". Did I mention how much I love this show?

Yami seems to show a bit of interest in her, but it's hard to tell if he's serious or just teasing to try and get her riled up. Well, if it's the latter, it's having the opposite effect. He may be an ex-Shonen protagonist, but he still has yet to learn about the mystery that is girls.

What I think: I predict that if Asta and Noelle don't get together by the end of the series and manage to stay single, this would be their relationship. One being oblivious while the other hopelessly crushes on them. It's a trope that I freaking love, if my opinion on Gruvia has anything to say about it. Is it cliche? Maybe, but this is Black Clover, aka the king of being a cliche Shonen, so don't be too shocked. Charlotte, though, you poor girl, just fess up already, I doubt he'd reject you.

Honestly though, I think Yami is what Ichigo Kurosaki should've become at the end of Bleach. I mean, a captain of an important squad, uses dark-like abilities via sword, pretty much went through his own Shonen journey...So from now on, I'm viewing Yami as an alternate universe Ichigo, and you can't stop me.
