Intro: Now let's go from a crack ship with Weiss, to an actual ship with Weiss. We haven't seen Neptune since Volume 3, and was only mentioned once in Volume 4, and these two haven't even interacted since Volume 3 Episode 2 (although there was a small bit in Volume 3 Chapter 11 where he cried out to her when she was attacked), which is probably why I'm only bringing up this ship now, though I did mention it in my "almost ships" chapter. But let's go over the stuff they do have and hopefully have again soon.

Proof: The moment these two first interacted, Weiss immediately began crushing on him and showing positive reactions to his flirting (much to Jaune's irritation). Every moment with these two in the same scene shows at least one point where Weiss tries so hard to try and talk with him more, but things just tend to happen, for example, Ruby dragging her away, much to the Ice Queen's dismay.

But then there's the famous school dance, when Weiss actually managed to ask him to it, but he turned her down, revealed later that it was because he couldn't dance and didn't want to make a fool of himself. This is the moment where some hate for Neptune's character is at least a bit understandable. Neptune is a huge flirt, hitting on a lot of other girls besides Weiss, and when Weiss' invitation was rejected, Weiss fans probably started hating the guy because he made their snow angel sad.

You'd probably expect me to provide some measure of argument as to why this is the case. But... well, I can't exactly do that. Neptune was pretty much a jerk by turning her down for such a petty reason. To be honest, I'm still a bit iffy about him, but here's the thing... he got better afterward. After all, he still went and talked to Weiss during the dance (at the provocation of Jaune, but still). He admitted that she was a cool girl (no pun intended), and did seem to have some kind of romantic interest. He's not a guy you should really hate now, because, let's face it, he's more comic relief at this point than anything else.

What I think: Like I said, I'm still a bit iffy on Neptune's character, but I do like these two. Certainly a lot better than WhiteRose (though I feel as though that ship is slowly beginning to die off, thank God), as well as FreezerBurn (my God, people, can't two friends who haven't seen each other in a long time be close and not be romantically involved?! Sorry, still a bit twitchy about the sudden rise of this ship).

But yeah, as for future interactions with these two, it's all up to the writers on whether they do anything with it. I personally hope they do, but I'm not crossing my fingers for anything.
