Chapter Fourteen
I had been dreading that day all week that's why I was sitting in my car trying to gather the courage to face my fears. You know what those fears were? Cinderella and her evil twin sisters or my version of Kim and the twins Kate and Trisha. It was Saturday afternoon and I'd promised to meet up and give them details about David. I would have said no but they threatened to look for him themselves and I didn't want that. I wanted to control the amount of information they had about my man. Come on Anisha you can do this, I said to myself trying to give myself mental courage.
My phone pinged with a message and I saw it was Kim.
Kim🌺 : I know you're still in your car doing nothing. Get you ass in here now before I come and drag out myself.
Me: Sheesh yes mother.
I replied sarcastically. George was still on leave and he thought David was with me but he was actually at the gym with his friends so I went to meet the girls alone. No need to stress the old man with issues he didn't need to know about. It was just a simple meeting with the girls before I headed back home to cuddle with my man.
We hadn't exactly tried the living together phase because he'd only stayed the night we went to his mother's place. He had been at work all week so he usually just went home afterwards. But I was getting him all night after my lunch with the girls and the next day. I hoped the meeting with the girls ended soon.
Another thing I hated about a date with the girls is how we were supposed to dress up for these stupid meetings. Short and skimpy dresses. Not my style. There was no way out of it because I knew if I didn't dress the way they wanted one of them always carried an extra outfit that they would force me into. It happened once before and I don't want to relive the experience of being dressed by three grown women.
I grabbed my clutch, my phone and car keys before getting out of the car. I made sure to straighten my dress so I didn't flash anyone. I was wearing a white long sleeved off shoulder dress that reached mid thigh and black heels. They were only a few inches high but it didn't mean I was comfortable wearing them. I might be a fashion designer but it didn't mean I had to wear the contraptions. I loved my legs and my safety thank you very much.
I locked the car before walking across the parking lot and into the high end restaurant. I didn't need a waiter to guide me to the table because I already knew where the girls were. It wasn't the first time they chose meeting there and they always picked the same table. It was in the middle of the restaurant to allow them to draw as much attention as possible. We drew the attention alright and it wasn't always the good kind. I hated it but there was nothing I could do about it.
My heels clicked against the tiled floor as I approached the girls. Kim was the first to notice me since she sat facing the door. She got up and hugged me before kissing my cheek, I hoped her lipstick was smudge proof. I hugged the twins before sitting down.
"We already ordered you a mimosa." Trisha said pushing the tall glass of orange juice plus champagne towards me.
"Guys I don't care if it's mixed with juice. I don't drink alcohol and you all know that." I declared pushing the glass away.
"We know just drink it." Kate insisted.
"Guys." I protested.
"It's pure juice for crying out loud." Trisha insisted.
"Then why didn't you just say so?" I asked them.
"In case there was anyone eavesdropping but that's gone with the wind now." Kim declared.
I resisted the urge to roll my eyes and took a careful sip from the glass handed to me. After confirming it was actually juice I took a good drink draining almost half of the glass.
I grabbed the menu to look through and decide on what to eat. I hadn't had lunch yet but I didn't want to fill up too much either because I wanted to have a home cooked dinner with David when I went back home. Last time I cooked for him he actually liked my cooking so I wanted to do it tonight too.
"Have you ladies decided on what to order?" The waiter asked when he came back to our table.
"I don't know what to order." Kim whined and the twins concurred with her.
They were such picky eaters and would always take an eternity before deciding on what they actually wanted to eat.
"We'll have the chicken fajita kebabs with lemon slices, the guacamole dip and some more mimosas please."I ordered for everyone saying the mimosa with a wink hooping the waiter would catch on and thankfully he did.
"Okay coming right up." He replied with a smile and left.
"Thanks for ordering." Trisha expressed and I responded with a nod.
"So Anisha tell us more about David." Kim asked the question I had been dreading ever since they planned this little meeting.
I didn't mind talking about David, it just mattered who I was talking to. These three girls thrived on gossip and my relationship with David was something they had been waiting to happen for years so there's no way they were going let this chance escape. I had to be careful what I told them. Part of my relationship with David was already in a few online gossip sights. I don't want this three giving interviews about my life. The gossip sites were okay as long as they didn't interfere with my life or Davids.
"Okay so David and I are officially dating. We met at the club the night of Kim's birthday as he works there. I really like him and he likes me back." I confessed summing up our relationship with three simple sentences.
There was definitely a lot more to tell but they didn't need to know that.
"He's the reason you asked for my brothers number isn't it ?" Kim asked.
"Yeah I didn't have his contact number then." I admitted.
"We know you're a very private person and since David is your first boyfriend we are going to respect your boundaries. As long as you're happy." Kate confessed shocking me.
"Yeah babe. We know you wouldn't just enter into a relationship with any random guy. You're the most sober of the four of us both literally and figuratively so your decisions are sane and we're just happy for you. You deserve to be happy with a guy who sees you as the treasure you are." Trisha added surprising me even more.
"I honestly don't know what to say girls." I admitted.
I didn't know they were this mature when it came to situations like these. Don't get me wrong, the three of them were great but they slept around a lot and none of them had ever had a long lasting relationship.
"You don't have to say anything. We're just happy for you." Kim replied.
"Thank you so much."I said meaning every word.
They had floored me with their input about my relationship with David. It was the most matured I'd ever heard them sound unless it was work related and I couldn't help but feel my heart swell with joy. We weren't that close considering we didn't have the same interests but they were the closest things I had to friends so in a way their opinion mattered to me.
I was also grateful for the fact that they didn't care what kind of work he did. They were a little materialistic and I was glad that detail about David's occupation didn't faze them. It wouldn't have mattered to me if it did but I was just glad they didn't care.
Before we could say anymore the waiter came back with our orders. He served us and after making sure we wouldn't be needing anything else he left us.
"So have you guys done it yet?" Kate asked as soon as we were alone once more and all thoughts I had of them actually maturing went flying out the window.
Well at least they had tried even if it had lasted only a few minutes.
"Kate!" I admonished.
"What? I just wanted to know if he had popped your cherry yet." She defended.
"Yeah tell us. Has he?" Trisha asked and they all looked at me expectantly.
"It's none of your business." I replied picking up a stick of kebab and a piece of lemon.
I sprinkled the lemon on it before taking a bite. It was delicious and it had better be considering how expensive this place was.
"Come on please Anisha. Just a little bit of details for your best gal pals." Kim pleaded.
I pinched the bridge of my nose and groaned out loud. I swallowed what I was chewing before deciding to answer them.
"Well if you must know the most we've done is kiss." I informed them and they all looked at me with disbelief.
"You want to tell me that you haven't slept with him. The man is sculptured like a Greek god and has the dreamiest lips to ever exist on a man. Are you blind?" Trisha asked.
I expected to feel jealous hearing her describe my man like that but I didn't. Honestly I did get a little defensive there for a moment not wanting her to talk about David that way but I was more proud than jealous. That's my man she was talking about. All mine.
"No I'm not blind and I see him for all that he has but I like the pace our relationship is taking. It's more than a physical connection for us." I explained.
"Good for you girl." Kim expressed and I smiled.
They got off may case for a while as we enjoyed lunch. They were distracted by the group of men occupying the table next to them. I didn't care if it was Mr Kenya himself was sitting there, I already had a man. Even before I met David I had never been bothered joining the girls when it came to their little adventures. I was too mature for that. I had always wanted a real long lasting relationship and had been willing to wait for the right person instead of wasting my time on useless relationships. I was finally dating David and if I wasn't bothered before then I definitely wouldn't be now.
"So when can we meet this David?"Trisha asked after we were done eating and the waiter had cleared our table.
"You guys already met him at the event last week." I commented unaware of what she was driving at.
"We saw him but we didn't meet him." Kim insisted.
"What do you actually mean by want to meet him?" I asked still a little confused.
"In person where we can hold a conversation and talk about things." Kate explained.
Sometimes I think the three were more of triplets than twins with how they finished each others thoughts.
"Well that will have to wait because we have plans tonight so maybe some other time." I replied wanting the conversation to be over already.
"What sort of plans?" Kim asked.
"Indoor date sort of plan." I replied and they all cooed at me.
What was with them?
"I have a suggestion. Why don't you cancel them and invite him to go clubbing with us. We're already dressed for the part anyway." Trisha suggested.
"That's a definite no." I replied quickly before that plan materialized but it was too late considering Kate and Kim had already heard it and now all three of them started ganging up on me.
They were insisting that I invite David to go out with the four of us. I always hated clubbing with the three of them by myself. What made them think I'd drag David into that mess?
"You don't have any older brothers who'd scare him into taking care of you so we're officially taking over that role." Kim declared protectively and even though her intentions were a little inappropriate they still made sense and my heart swelled at what they wanted to do for me.
"Come on say yes. You know we rarely drag you into our clubbing sessions unless it's a special event and you finally getting a boyfriend is a special event. Normal girlfriends would take you out for a spa day or a shopping spree but we are not normal so we'll take you to the club." Trisha reasoned that statement actually made sense.
They were wearing me down.
"I don't know you guys. I mean even if I said yes it doesn't mean he'll agree." I reasoned.
"Why? What's he doing right now?" Kate asked.
"Last we talked he was getting off work and going to the gym with a couple of his friends." I replied.
"Even better. Call him and invite him and his friends. Actually don't even bother calling him. Let's go pick him up sort of like a surprise. Guys love these kind if things from their girls." Kate suggested.
"What would you know about boy girl relationships? You've never been in one." I asked her.
"Look at you being a hater just because you have David in your life." She teased and we all laughed.
"But seriously you guys his gym is all the way in the other side of the city about an hour's drive." I explained.
"Even better we haven't been on the road together in a while. It will be nice if his friends join us too. The more the merrier. " Kim said and I felt myself losing the battle as the twins agreed with her.
The waiter came back with our receipt and we paid before walking out of the restaurant. I thought they were joking but when Kim got into the car with me I knew they meant business. I didn't even get a chance to call David and warn him about what was about to happen to him.
Forgive me babe, I prayed on the drive over. Looks like David was meeting the girls in an impromptu meeting.
