Chapter Nine: Hospital Wing
The second McGonagall walked out the door to get the other students, conversation started up again.
"Have you ever seen McGonagall act like that?" Harry was amazed. Honestly though, I was just getting frustrated at this point. It was obvious that McGonagall was mad at me for drinking too much but she didn't want to make me feel bad, so she was involving the rest of the grade.
"No," I whispered. My head was really starting to hurt again. "It was weird. Do you think she is angry with me?" I was still terrified by this thought. What would happen? Would I get expelled?
"No," Ron said, smiling at me. They all looked at me. Then they reached over, smiled, and in turn each gave me a hug.
McGonagall came in with the rest of the seventh year trailing behind her. They were shouting and screaming at the top of their voices. My head felt like it was going to explode.
"Will you puh-leeze SHUT UP!" I screamed. Everyone looked at me in shock. McGonagall looked horrified. Then she started laughing.
"Hermione. Are you quite sure you are alright, dear?" She was trying to muffle her laughter.
"Yes Professor, I'm very sorry Professor."
"Don't be sorry. You have a humongous headache from your hangover. I must say however, I never expected to have that thought aAnd be saying this to Ms. Hermione Granger of all people." She was laughing again. Everyone else started laughing too. You could tell there were a bunch of other people with headaches from hangovers too. They were laughing, but they were holding their heads in their hands. I looked around and caught Malfoy's eye. He glared at me and broke eye contact almost immediately. Zabini glared next to him. All boys except Ron and Harry are stupid, I decided. Wait, no, scrap that thought. I thought back to the fake wand fight they had in our fourth year and how they would never pass their classes if I wasn't there to basically do all of their home work for them. All boys are stupid.
"All right class," McGonagall started. "Could all of you please find a bed in the wing and sit down?. Due to the number of people with hangovers, Madam Pomfrey and I have decided that all seventh years will be staying here today at least, or until she decides you are well enough to be discharged. This is only a precaution to make sure you all are, and stay in excellent health."
Everyone scrambled to find a bed. Madame Pomfrey started fussing around, handing out water, chocolate and potions to everyone. McGonagall obviously wanted the students attention at the moment though so she glared and coughed, stopping Madame Pomfrey in her tracks.
"Sorry Professor McGonagall." She mumbled.
"It's quite alright." McGonagall replied. Several students, probably Slytherins, were still talking in the back. Professor McGonagall was pursing her lips in frustration.
"Oi! Shut up will you! The head mistress is trying to speak." The call came from Ron. The students glared at Ron but McGonagall out glared all of them.
"Thank you. Now I need you all to be respectful listeners for the next few minutes. We need to talk about the party, as well as this year.
"Being drunk can be dangerous. I don't know who brought the wine to the party but it was against my wishes. If anyone knows anything about it, I would ask them to please step forward." She glared around at everyone, letting her eyes stop each time she made eye contact. No one spoke however, so she moved on. "All right if anyone knows anything about it, please step forward sometime in the near future.
"Going back to the dangers of being drunk, I hear you also played Truth or Dare. This is a dangerous game to play in this state as you may end up doing things you might not normally do if you were sober."
Her eyes passed around the room. Everyone looked over at Dean and Seamus. They blushed and stepped away from each other with haste as everyone started laughing. McGonagall raised her eyebrows but left it at that.
"Another more worrying danger of being drunk is," she gulped, "it means you girls need to watch out for yourselves."
I gulped and felt a squirming feeling in my stomach. I was sure that was just me and not — No it's too early on to know — What was I saying? Why was I so worried about being pregnant? I wouldn't. I couldn't.
"The biggest issue I would like to address is if any of you do happen to get pregnant, there is nothing we can do about it. You must have the child and you must care for it. The next few years after you, if you remember, must conceive a child by the end of the school year. The Ministry would love if you all did the same but there is no law for it.
"The last thing I would like to address is there will be no more unsupervised parties." Everyone in the room burst into laughter.
"But what about quidditch common room parties?" Someone yelled from a dark corner.
"Those may continue —" a sigh of relief "— as long as a teacher is present." Everyone groaned.
"Well don't complain you still get to have your parties."
There was a mixed feeling in the room and McGonagall waved goodbye to everyone and walked out, back to her office and teaching Transfiguration.

I ended up staying in the hospital wing for two days. Malfoy, Seamus, and a few others ended up staying with me. I tried hard not to look Malfoy in the eye. Madam Pomfrey wanted to keep us for a longer period of time than the others because she wanted to make sure we got the alcohol out of our systems. Also, it is more likely to be more gravely injured by some potions and hexes that people might decide to use on me. Also, I was just sore and so plain tired.
